User questions & answers

Question: Does G5n "remember" the previous patch (e.g. 20) so that pressing a switch (e.g. if now on #2) takes you back to that patch? How does that work
Answer: I don't use it that way.
Question: How would this sound running into a modeling amp like a yamaha thr10c
Answer: It sounded great on my 6 string bass, the tuner even works well on the low B string. There are several bass amp presets that sound good, including a fretless simulator for fretted basses. Highly recommended for my fellow bassists!
Question: Is the unit easily scratched? mine has a few scratch marks on the screens
Answer: You can but you need either the 3.mm to 1/4 cable or the adapter .. also on Amazon. And I have done it it works great
Question: Is it good for live situations soundwise
Answer: The PC recognizes the USB connection as a MIDI interface, which can be used to switch between patches.

The Zoom G5n Multi-Effects Processor for Guitarists

When we designed the G5n, our goal was to create the finest collection of guitar effects ever offered in one innovative package. From 'FunkSauce' to 'Texas Toast', from 'Carlos' to 'Heavensent,' the G5n delivers dozens of tonalities sure to please the most discerning guitarist.

Consider this the 126 boutique pedals you don't have.

The G5n comes equipped with freshly-developed takes on not only the most-essential guitar sounds like overdrive, distortion, compression, EQ, delay, reverb, flanging, phasing, vibrato, and chorusing, but also unique multi-effects such as Seq Filter, Gold Drive, Reverse Delay, HD Hall, and OSC Echo.

You can connect the G5n directly to a PA system or audio interface, using the 26 onboard amp and cabinet emulators. Choose from 10 classic amp models like the '59 Fender Bassman, Diezel Herbert Channel 2, Marshall JCM800, Fender Twin Reverb, MESA Boogie Mk3, and Bogner Ecstasy Blue Channel and British 30W Class A Combo, newly and faithfully created to be adjusted exactly as you would with the knobs and switches of the real thing.

Easy editing

There are four independent editing displays for zeroing in on the perfect sound, each bank providing the responsiveness and hands-on feel of a stompbox.

Powerful pedals

The G5n's expression pedal gives you smooth real-time control over volume, tone, or selected effects parameters, with four stompbox-style footswitches to kick effects in and out on the fly.

Complex tonalities

It would take an arsenal of stompboxes, amplifiers, and speakers to duplicate everything you can do with a single G5n. Use up to nine effects and amp/cabinet models simultaneously, chained together in any order you like.

User questions & answers

Question: Do you have to use the amp/cab simulator or can it be turned off? I love my amp sound, I just want to use the stomp box emulator or effects patches
Answer: Yes you can turn both amp and cab sims off. Use it this wAy and it will be just like a pedal board with multiple effects. I love mine!
Question: Do I have to use a zoom expression pedal or can I use other brands
Answer: Yes you can but you need to test it out first. Some do not work. Sometimes I use a Mission Engineering expression pedal.
Question: Can i program a hofner violin bass sound patch using zoom b3n
Answer: I'm not sure but I'm pretty confident that you can. There are so many modeling possibilities with this unit. Most likely you could use a combinations of amps, eq, and possibly compression. I would recommend that you find an isolated audio track and try to add, bit by bit, the sounds within the unit. Also, you may want to try https://www.talkbass.com or Zoom's forum.
Question: does it come with a power adapter or do you have to rely on batteries
Answer: It comes with a power supply. Does not run on batteries.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you get sound from the computer via usb connection
Answer: I have 10.14.6 Mojave and it doesn't work on my mac
Question: What changes come in v2 firmware, and can G3x get it too
Answer: This looper DOES keep previously saved loops after being unplugged. In fact, one time I had a power surge and it restarted and actually saved everything I was recording up until the second the restart occurred. Anyway, I would recommend this looper.
Question: Does this unit have a headphone output
Answer: no, it does not.
Question: Do all the new G3s being sold on here come with the version 2.0 firmware, or just the units from Japan
Answer: This works with a power supply connected to the electricity. Any other option to power it will be DIY and at your own risk. Also needs to be consulted before hand with Valeton tech team.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the usb port mean it has interface capabilities (can i record with it without an audio interface to pc
Answer: The PC recognizes the USB connection as a MIDI interface, which can be used to switch between patches.
Question: Can you delete only the previous loop that you recorded instead of the whole loop
Answer: No you can not delete part of a loop. In some other loopers you can undo one or more previous loops, but with the G1on you can not. When you delete a loop that was made on top of a a rhythm loop all the loops get deleted. It kind of sucks! This is about the only fault I can find w/ the G1on.
Question: I just bought a digitech-360 and found out i can't use the looper with the drum machine.. can you use the drums with the looper on this unit
Answer: Yes you can select a drum pattern and start playing it, then switch to looper mode and record while playing to the drum sounds. The drum sounds don't get recorded though, but you can play to the beat unlike the digitech 360.
Question: whats the difference between this and spending hundreds on different pedals
Answer: Lol! A lot, and not that much. This makes for an excellent practice pedal/tone lab. It's perfect for trying out different sounds and pedal combos and learning about basic signal path for FX. Some people even gig with this unit, though the G3X and G5X are considered more "Pro. Grade" though they have basically the same FX engine. Picking, buying, and building your own custom boutique pedal board is also rewarding and can provide some more unique and better quality FX... But you can literally spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Plus you'll need to try out the different pedals and build out a board. But individual pedals does give you flexibility DURING a performance. Note that the G1Xon has only two stomps and a wah. (Look at the manual, it's more complicated than that.) But basically (tl:dr) if you already know what sounds you want and you're a professional, spend hundreds on different pedals. If you want to experiment with different tone/FX and are primarily rehearsing and doing house of worship & coffee houses, buy the G1Xon.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have a guitar synthesizer effect
Answer: Not that I’ve seen. It’s not like a MIDI controller but there are some strange effects that are pretty out there.
Question: Can you use the looper pedal at any time? i've currently got a boss me-80, but it seems the looper is only available in manual/no custom effect mode
Answer: The looper pedal is just one of the many effects that you can include in your chain, so yes, you can include any of the several versions of a looper pedal in any effects chain, as long as you have the empty slot(s) and the available processor power. You just got me wondering what might happen if you were to include two or more loopers in one chain. I think I'll go try it!
Question: Do you always have to hold for the tap tempo
Answer: The tap tempo is a specific setting that you need to navigate to. It's actually pretty easy to do in a live setting.
Question: Does the g3xn use batteries like the g3x
Answer: Mine just has a wall-wart, no battery compartment.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this loop
Answer: It doesnt loop.
Question: It mentions there is a usb. does this have computer interface
Answer: Although Zoom claims this is an update-only USB port, Zoom themselves recently released a basic patch librarian. There is a cottage industry of people making control box footswitches for Multi Stomps. If you Google 'Patch Editor for ZOOM MS Series' you'll find a web-based editor that allows you to select patches, switch on/off individual effects and adjust parameters on each effect in the selected patch in real time. You'll need to use the Chrome browser to run it, according to the website.I have mine set up on a Windows tablet on a mic stand- I can tweak presets on the fly without bending over the pedalboard.
Question: Does the HPS effect output in stereo (as in, dry signal through one output and wet, pitch-shifted signal through the other)? If so, I'd buy it
Answer: The HPS effect outputs in mono. Dry signal coming in through the Left input is mixed with the pitch-shifter at both outputs. There are some stereo effects in the MS- series- that will come out of the stereo outs in true stereo. Also, dry stereo signal will come out the outs in stereo. You don't have any control over panning the HPS output. Also, you should know that the pitch-shift tracking isn't that great. I'd say if you want a good intelligent pitch shifter, this one ain't it.
Question: What type of output is the MS-50G set for if you don't include an amp sim in the effects chain (eg. Line Out, etc)? (Please, only answer if you know
Answer: If you choose to turn off the amp sim section the output is still the same eg: instrument pickup level + or - some impedance buffering then + or - whatever output level you choose to set in the effects unit (also EQ & compression levels). So the end result is actually what you choose to set but is more likely to be a + db level to that of the pickup (which, depending on the pickup is normally well below line level).

User questions & answers

Question: will this work for a 500mA Holy Grail Reverb
Answer: I believe so, once this power supply is 670mA. However I would strongly recommend that you first confirm if your Holy Grail does require a 9V AND negative center tip. BE CAREFUL! As far as I know some older EHX Holy Grail work with positive center tip / negative sleeve. Not sure which is the version you have - if this is the case, DO NOT use this power supply. BE CAREFUL! Hope this helps.
Question: Will this work with any of the following boss pedals: dd-500, rv-50, and es
Answer: Yes, the Blucoil Guitar Pedal Power Supply is compatible with BOSS DD-500, RV-50, and ES-5.
Question: Will this thing power Danelectro pedals
Answer: If your Danelectro pedal accepts a 9V center tip negative power supply, the this will work fine. Please note that the Blucoil Power Supply works with pedals that require negative polarity only.

User questions & answers

Question: How easy is it to clean
Answer: I'm sorry - I haven't had it long enough for it to need clean, but as I look at it, I don't see the need ever arising
Question: Can this be run direct for recording? Would it sound good
Answer: No this does not have a cab simulator built in. It sounds great through the front of an amp but not direct. You would need a cab simulator to make it sound good direct.
Question: If i ran this into an Isp Stealth power amp into a 4x12 cabinet would i still need a cab sim or impulse response
Answer: I think there's no need for a cab sim since you already have a cab. Maybe you'll need a cab sim for recording or a PA. I use this as a preamp thru the effects return with different amps and they all sound great. Unless you're looking for some specific sound.

User questions & answers

Question: Can the low BPM speed of the different rhythms be changed
Answer: Not sure what you mean by speaker. This is a pick-up that plugs into a guitar amp. The amp you use depends on your personal preference. I use this on an old Silvertone, tuned open D and play it through an old tube amp, all for a very specific sound.
Question: Does it have a tuner
Answer: No it is the small 1/8" you will need an adapter to run a 1/4' cable.
Question: Can I connect my laptop or mp3 player as aux in and play along
Answer: An electric guitar with two pickups benefits from the customizable sounds produced not MORE sound. In order to use two, you would have to rewire them so you could switch on or th other on/off. There would also need to be one at bridge and one near neck. I got ONE for a friend. He LOVES it. Good luck
Question: Does it have a bypass
Answer: No batteries needed.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this pedal have a noise gate built in
Answer: Yes, it has a tuner.
Question: I cannot get any guitar effects audio through the pedal. The drum machine works, the tuner and bypass function works. But none of the pedal effects
Answer: Yes I have used tablet and phone for music to jam
Question: Is the power adapter cord included with this? I can't seem to find that
Answer: There is no "bypass" switch. To get a clean sound, you'll need to turn all the various effects "off".
Question: Does it come with overdrive effect
Answer: This set is Zebra/Reverse Zebra. For other combinations, such as Zebra/Zebra, you would need to purchase the neck and bridge pickups separately.
