Answer:	To the best of my knowledge, there is not a compatibility factor with this cable. It is strictly a hardware device. Your KVM device will do the switching and is not a compatibility factor. Your computer should not know any difference between a cable going to a KVM or to a monitor...All that being said, I have not specifically tested it on Windows 8 however, I personally would be willing to spend $8 in confidence that it will work.

Answer:	yes, i have used 2 together successfully with logitech c920 webcam without the auxiliary power to the usb cable and video displayed same as a direct connection to my laptop. I have used these a number of times for classroom and auditorium webinars. One cable did fail on me one time, but replaced it an all working well. You might want to keep a spare if you are doing something that is critical to a live broadcast. That is true of any hardware, not just this product. I will buy more of these as the need arises. I once bought a usb 2.0 version by mistake, instead of 3.0 usb, and that also worked fine, but the 3.0 would be the one to get for better bandwidth.

Answer:	Yes, this splitter is balanced. What the seller ("Monoprice") wrote is wrong, most likely he is applying the definition of "Balanced" used for other electronic components, e.g. microphones. Balanced in the world of coax splitters means that the signal from all outputs is the same (and different for unbalanced). The number of outputs for this splitter is a power of 2 (i.e. 8=2*2*2 = 2^3). So, it is balanced. I would even say "naturally balanced", as it would take a special effort to make it unbalanced. When you have an even number of outputs, the easiest design is to have the splitter unbalanced, - e.g. 3, the easiest way to realize it is by splitting the signal 2-ways, and then splitting one of those outputs 2-ways again. Each 2-way split gives you about 3.5 dB attenuation. So, you would have -3.5 dB on one leg, and -7dB on two others. On a balanced 3-way splitter you'd get -5.5dB. So, any splitter whose number of outputs is a power of 2 (i.e. 2, 4, 8, 16) are "naturally" unbalanced.
