Answer:	The calibration weight is a metal piece. These are shipped to Amazon is a plastic bag with the bar code on the bag. Amazon than boxes the weight and ships it to buyers.
Question:	A scale needs a 1000 gm calabration weight ($24) Two 500 gm weights cost a total of $16. Is there any reason not to use two 500 gm weights
Answer:	a couple of things to consider. perhaps the 500 gm weights that cost less aren't as close to 500 gm as the more expensive weight is to 1000 gm. it might be that the two 500 gm weights even out to 1000 gm (one is above 500 gm and one is below), but you shouldn't count on that happening. second, it is easier to put a 1000 gm weight almost exactly in the center of the scale than it is to put two weights offset from the center where you are trying to get the line between the two weights to go thru the center of the scale. there is a third consideration, but this is pure speculation on my part. the calibration software for the scale might be set up assuming the weight is in the center of the scale, and the preciseness of the calibration drops off a bit when the weight is spread out from the center.

Answer:	It is a single piece of solid steel, but there is a screw on the bottom covered with a sticker. Inside is a small amount of loose material used to fine tune the finished weight. DO NOT REMOVE THE STICKER, SCREW, OR LOOSE MATERIAL!!! I took this weight to a jeweler and they checked it. It was PERFECT. These are great weights for the price. I bought 2 and they were exactly the same. Quality weights of this size have the hollow adjustment pocket like this does. Just leave it alone and don't open it.

Question:	Can I weight diamonds, ruby and gold
Answer:	No this scale doesn't even register until you get up to 5mg, I have placed many an item below that weight on this alleged +/- .005 error rate scale, and frankly I wonder how the hell is it legal to advertise something as measuring a unit it literally has no chance of measuring. People say to place a 10g weight and then weigh the amount that is too light, but that doesn't work as far as I see for things still below 5mg, so if this thing can't detect a difference of 5mg from 0 to 5 or from 1gram to 1.005... why is it called a scale accurate to .001, sure it displays that, but thats pretty much a guess I can now see... its sad that basically to get a better scale, and not by much you need to spend 200$, and even then you won't be able to measure 1mg, just do better than this piece of junk, which I own and love, but I am annoyed at its misrepresentation of the facts, I guess fraudulent advertisement is now considered marketing huh, how the other guy can in good concience tell you this thing weight very well, i dunno, I mean its the best 20$ scale you can get, but no where near good enough for anything other than .01g measurements really, since scales need to have a 10x accuracy factor if they are worth their salt in order to round up or down to what it shows on the screen. In other words it needs to be more accurate than it displays, nearly alll .1scales are at least accurate to .05, unless their chinese garbage. But somehow this precision scale goes in the opposite direction, and alleges to display values I have no idea how it determines when it literally doesn't have the accuracy to... must be some hella funky coding for a scale that in its own manual states an error rate of plus o minus 5mg but still allege to tell you the exact mg as if that figure have a better than 1 in 10 chance of being right. Sorry the scale isn't bad for the money, I just wish they made one that actually did this, and was affordable to the public.

Answer:	Mine is brand new and won't weigh .001. I add more and it jumps to .023 which is deadly when it comes to meds. You put the tray on it, zero it out and add the powder. What's the problem?

Answer:	It's an incredibly accurate scale so you won't have to worry about inconsistent loading, but the scale's weighing dish will only hold about 3 grams of powder. I'm not familiar with how much powder you need to reload the casings/shells you're loading but if you need more than a few grams you may want to get a scale with a larger weighing surface. You probably only need accuracy to 0.01grams for your purposes rather than 0.001g like this scale, but if consistency is your biggest concern then this scale is perfect for you.

(mg) Getting more specific in grams you need a more detailed scale which is milligrams (mg) 0.01- look for a digital scale that says jewelry weight or mg scale
Question:	Would this work well for measuring grains
Answer:	I believe this is a confusion between resolution and minimum value. 1 gram resolution means it measures in 1 gram increments without decimal places. It does not mean 1 gram is the minimum it can measure. Based on other answers, the minimum appears to be around 3g, but from there, it will increment by 1g. If you need to measure less than 3g or higher resolution than 1g (reading in decimal values of grams), then you need a different scale, such as a scientific type scale.

How to Calibrate

Turn the scale by pressing ON/OFF Key.

Wait for the display to show ''0.000g'', the press and hold ''MODE'' Key till the display shows ''CAL'', then release.

Press ''MODE'' Key again, display will flash ''CAL'' followed by the required calibration weight.

Place the required calibration weight on the center of the platform, display will show "PASS", then return to narmal weighing mode.

Calibration is complated! Repeat above steps if something goes wrong.
