If you were to cut it in half and look at it across the cut it should look like a "U" (sort of). The heavy part of the "U" faces the faucet; the thinner side is where the male part of the quick connections seats. The male half of the connection only needs a regular hose washer.When the two are pushed together, the male half will push against the thin part of the special washer and seal the connection. When this special washer gets old and hard, it will no longer seal and needs to be replaced. |

All of the solid brass ones have been interchangable and the same goes for aluminum to aluminum and plastic to plastic. The brass ones last longer but tend to become hard to operate over time. The plastic ones operate the best but don't last as long. |

| Answer: | The shut off switch screw has to be tight enough to be able to move the valve that allows the water to turn off and on, if the screw is too loose you won't have any control over that. The screw has to be tight enough to move the valve, but not too tight where it doesn't move at all. You may have to use some pliers to move the switch and spray some WD-40 inside to help loosen it up. I hope this helps you Ann. |
