12 best thread sealer
Thread sealer, also known as thread sealant, is a type of adhesive sealant used to create a secure and leak-proof seal between threaded connections. These connections can be found in various industrial and plumbing applications, where pipes, fittings, or other components are joined together with threaded fasteners, such as bolts, nuts, or screws. Thread sealers are designed to prevent the escape of liquids or gases from these connections, ensuring a tight and reliable seal.
Key characteristics and features of thread sealers include:
Sealing Properties: Thread sealers are formulated to fill the gaps and irregularities between the threads of mating components, preventing leaks. They are particularly effective at sealing connections in pipes and fittings that carry fluids, such as water, oil, or gases.
Chemical Resistance: Thread sealers are often resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including solvents, oils, and various industrial fluids. This makes them suitable for use in diverse environments and industries.
Temperature Resistance: Many thread sealants are designed to withstand a broad range of temperatures, from extreme cold to high heat. This thermal stability ensures the seal remains intact under various operating conditions.
Variety of Formulations: Thread sealers are available in different formulations, including liquid, paste, and tape forms. The choice of formulation depends on the specific application and the preferences of the user.
Easy Application: Thread sealers are easy to apply, and they typically come with instructions for use. Users can apply the sealant directly to the threads of the fasteners or use thread sealing tape by wrapping it around the threads.
Curing Time: Thread sealers may require some curing time before they achieve their full sealing effectiveness. This curing time can vary depending on the product, so it's essential to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
Removability: Some thread sealers are designed to be removable, allowing for disassembly and reassembly of components without damaging the threads.
Preventing Galling: Thread sealers can also act as a lubricant, reducing the risk of galling, which is the deformation of threads due to friction during assembly.
Pressure and Vibration Resistance: Thread sealers are often capable of withstanding high pressures and vibrations, ensuring the integrity of the seal in demanding industrial applications.
In summary, thread sealers play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and reliability of threaded connections in various industrial, plumbing, and scientific settings. They are designed to prevent leaks, resist chemicals and temperature extremes, and provide a secure seal for threaded joints. The choice of thread sealer depends on the specific requirements of the application and the compatibility with the materials being sealed.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this fuel resistance |
Answer: | Yes it is, and oil resistant as well. Great sealant, which I used on my experimental aircraft engine fittings. |
Question: | I was told i could use this on an oil pressure sending unit and seen on websites it could be used. so someone just told me I shouldn't. So can i |
Answer: | Depends on whether its oil resistant or not! Haven't used it for anything like that! |
Question: | Does this product solidify after 72 hrs as cited in the tds? after being applied for 52 hrs it remains a soft tacky paste |
Answer: | Hello. I use this product quite often. It holds very well, seals very well. I just put some on my differential fill plug and seals it great. To answer your question, this product, when first put on threaded hardware will be wet and soft and be able to seal low pressure and intermediate pressure. Parts can be readjusted, torqued, etcetera with in 24 hours of application. 72 hours just means it is fully cured and can withstand higher pressures. But, once applied, it holds very well within hours. Definitely within 24 hours. It does not solidify, it stays wet and soft. It's good stuff. Hope this helped. BJ |
Question: | How hard is to unscrew after this has been set for awhile |
Answer: | Harder than unscrewing a light bulb, yet not as hard as unscrewing your gf after she tells you she’s pregnant..... |

Question: | What's the difference between this & Special Edition? I need 2 use it 2 seal inline fuel filter thread brass fitting 4 a motorcycle tank 2 carb |
Answer: | Yes they are regular sized spools. |
Question: | Can this be used on plastic pipe |
Answer: | No it is more suited to sewing clothing. |
Question: | Does this stuff seal pneumatic (800 psi) threads on an and npt fittings |
Answer: | Probably not. It comes with X-Large bowls and a larger slip lead that would be too big for a small dog. I would order the small/medium in the backpack, it comes with 2 bags of food that would feed 2 small dogs under 20lbs for 72 hours and there would be enough water as well. You might want to add 1 extra bowl and an extra slip lead. Hope that helps. If you need any assistance check out our website at www.petevacpak.com for emergency preparedness tips. Team Pet Evac Pak |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm joinng 2 20' pieces of pipe togther for a weather station pole (outdoors, rain, heat). Which loctite is best |
Answer: | Blue is for bigger gaps like pipe threads, its thicker. Red is super high strength. I would use regular pipe dope, paste. Case you ever take it apart. If it is never coming aoart, don't use anything it'll rust and be solid. |
Question: | how do I open the sealed tube? do I just poke a hole at the top |
Answer: | I think it's best to use a thumbtack, safety pin, etc. to poke a hole into the flat tip. This will give you "droplet-sized control" in application. |
Question: | Do I apply this to my doorknob set screw before screwing it in or after? (ie, a drop on top |
Answer: | I have only used it on the screws that hold the wood grips onto a hand gun. Those would always work their way out after just 50 rounds, but now I never have a problem. Plus since I didn't use a ton of the glue, I can always get the grips off again if I should want to swap them out. Other than that, I have never had much need for loctite. You'll find that a lot of shooters use this stuff on all sorts of shooting apparatus! |
Question: | Is there a solvent or dremel attachement that will remove this stuff from bolt threads |
Answer: | You don't need solvent or dremel. It will keep any screw or bolt from loosening, but you can get the bolt/screw out with a screwdriver and just brush off the Loctite. Very good stuff. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this to seal the pipe fittings for a gas stove |
Answer: | I apologise but I m not qualified to answer this. I've never used this on twist lock fuel fittings. I've only used this on fasteners. How about aluminum anti-sieze for fuel fasteners? |
Question: | can this be used safely on leaking faucet in kitchen sink |
Answer: | Brake line fittings don’t use thread sealant. Brake lines usually use a flared seal. If any sealant was to be used, I would use something like a anerobic sealant |
Question: | I need to seal gas pipes of my fireplace burner which sits hot in the fireplace. Would this do the job |
Answer: | The special edition is no doubt like many other products listed on Amazon a seller attempting to use the false label of a "special edition" to lure buyers to buy from them at a higher price, without prime shipping and more often than not slower shipping. I am willing to bet if you contact the maker of the product that they do not produce a "special edition". |
Question: | How long does it take to set? Can it be put in use immediatley |
Answer: | I tried a number of things to seal a brass tee into a motorcycle oil pressure outlet. Nothing worked 'til I tried this stuff. Be sure to clean the threads well beforehand. If the stuff is rated for fuel, I'm sure it'll work for your application. It's good stuff. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work for a pressure pot with a 40 to 45 PSI |
Answer: | What is on your valves is exactly this Loctite product. Primary use is sealant in place "as supplied" from the manufacturer. |
Question: | Can this be used for potable water tank spigots |
Answer: | It probably will for a while , but it will leak again . If the fitting is loose you could try teflon tape or you could try to tap the hole out a little and try to turn the fitting one complete turn to get it to tighten up. |
Question: | Can you use this and teflon tape? my taped plastic threads are leaking on my in-line water filter and i don't want to try more than one fix |
Answer: | To my knowledge it will only work if you put it inside the threads - as you are assembling it. And it works pretty well doing that. Worked on a 3000+ psi hydraulic connection that was continually leaking. |
Question: | Will this work on my cpvc to watwr supply line under my sink? Teflon tape didnt work. Small drip every minute |
Answer: | Dries semi hard but hard enough that you can leave a fingernail imprint. it's not difficult to disassemble anything. I really like this stuff |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this be used on lp (propane lines |
Answer: | I don’t see why not.....I used it to seal pipe fittings on my gas furnace last year and I’m still alive and well. |
Question: | Has anyone used this on fittings that are exposed to engine oil |
Answer: | Yes, you can use this on a threaded connection on a kitchen faucet. However, it would be easier if you used teflon tape wound twice around the male connection threads. Gasoila is better when you have gas or oil connections (hence the name) where you couldn't use teflon because it would dissolve. |
Question: | Will this work on gas tank drain plug that is leaking slightly |
Answer: | This doesn't work over 600F. Question: | Is this sealant approved for use with gasoline fitting applications |
Answer: | Since it sets soft it is pretty much good to go immediately - the can does not list a minimum set time before use. I put it on a garden hose and used it right away with no problems. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How easy is it to break the seal when you want to remove a hose from a faucet |
Answer: | Depends on why the plug is leaking. If the plug is threaded and the threads are damaged, probably not. If by "slightly" you mean weeping and if the threads are ok, then it may be sufficient. The reason that I used Gasoila E-seal was because of its resistance to degradation by Ethanol, especially in high percentage Ethanol/Gasoline blends. The product is a sealer, not a glue or filler. |
Question: | is this 520 inches per roll |
Answer: | It is specially designed for use in fittings handling gasoline and gasoline blends up to 85% ethanol. See technical specs here: https://www.fedprobrands.com/products/pipe-thread-sealants/gasoila-e-seal-thread-sealant.html |
Question: | How easy is it to break the seal when you want to remove a hose from a faucet |
Answer: | yes ,its like teflon tape |
Question: | Is it made in the usa? china is a deal breaker |
Answer: | Yea also can be used on central heating systems oil and gas supplies and potable water ect |
