12 best metal to wood glues
Metal to wood glues are specialized adhesives designed to bond metal surfaces to wood. These adhesives are commonly used in various industrial, construction, and DIY applications. Here's what you need to know about them:
Cyanoacrylate Adhesives (CA Glues): Cyanoacrylate adhesives, often referred to as CA glues or super glues, are a popular choice for bonding metal to wood. They are known for their fast bonding capabilities and strong adhesive properties.
Bond Strength: CA glues create a strong bond between metal and wood surfaces, providing a reliable connection. The bond strength depends on factors like the type of CA glue used, surface preparation, and the materials being bonded.
Surface Preparation: Proper surface preparation is crucial for a successful bond. Both the metal and wood surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of any contaminants such as oil, dirt, or rust. Sanding or roughening the surfaces can enhance bond strength.
Application: CA glues are typically applied in thin layers to ensure even coverage. It's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific CA glue product being used.
Curing Time: CA glues cure rapidly, often within seconds to a few minutes. However, full bond strength may take longer, so it's advisable to let the adhesive set for the recommended curing time before subjecting the bonded materials to stress or load.
Versatility: CA glues can bond a wide range of metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, and brass, to various wood types, such as hardwoods and softwoods.
Temperature Resistance: The temperature resistance of CA glues can vary depending on the specific product. Some CA glues are more heat-resistant than others, so it's important to select the appropriate glue for the intended application.
Water Resistance: While CA glues are not inherently water-resistant, some formulations offer improved resistance to moisture and water exposure. Be sure to check the product specifications for information on water resistance.
Safety Precautions: CA glues should be used in a well-ventilated area, and users should follow safety precautions such as wearing gloves and eye protection. These adhesives can bond skin rapidly and should be handled with care.
Variety of Products: CA glues come in various formulations, including different viscosities (thin, medium, or thick) and special variants designed for specific applications, such as gap-filling or flexible bonds.
Storage: Proper storage of CA glues is important to extend their shelf life. They should be kept in a cool, dry place, tightly sealed to prevent drying out.
In summary, metal to wood glues, specifically Cyanoacrylate adhesives (CA glues), are known for their fast curing and strong bonding properties. They are versatile and suitable for various applications where a secure bond between metal and wood is required. Proper surface preparation and following the manufacturer's instructions are essential for achieving reliable and durable bonds.

Question: | Will this work if i would like to mount a mirror to the wall? And do i need to use it with that dispenser |
Answer: | Yes will work for mounting a mirror just need to support till the adhesive dries. And yes you will need a gun to get the adhesive out of the tube |
Question: | How long does this take to bond? I can't get it to stick |
Answer: | I used it to put up sign letters in humid weather. It took about 3-5 minutes to set and within 30 minutes each letter was secure. Bonus was that an hour after I did the job we had one of our FL surprise torrential downpours. It rained for several hours. I was just sure that I would find all the letters of the sign on the ground the next morning, but they were still in a straight line secured to the wall. This is not the product I use for that kind of job as a rule, but I was in a bind so gave it a shot. No complaints. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work on efis (faux stucco) outside my house? Thank you |
Answer: | I use this to glue together landscaping blocks that I use around my flowerbeds and this adhesive works better than landscaping block adhesive. I like it too because it’s clear and not gray like landscaping adhesive. It’s the strongest and best exterior adhesive I’ve used so far and I’ve used several different types. I think it would work great for your application. |
Question: | I don't have the cartridge gun device - can the tube still be used/squeezed easily without it |
Answer: | I used it both ways. I needed a little glue, and was too lazy to get the cartridge gun. I used a wrench to push it up for the amount of glue I needed. The gun gives you more control though. |
Question: | After use how seal does can use second time |
Answer: | I just put a piece of duct tape across the tip of the nozzle to seal the tube.I have done this many times after using caulk products and it usually works well. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Will it bond acrylic sheet to steel frame |
Answer: | probably yes. Try a sample. If you can, sand the acrylic lightly at the glue bond area, same for the steel. 220 or 150 grit... It will bond well, but good idea to remove surface oils to allow glue to bite into both surfaces. Im very optimistic. |
Question: | Will this product cover a chip on a snow white desk |
Answer: | Yes but you might want to use the thicker marker more like a crayon vs the marker one |
Question: | If using on wood floor to correct small marks, can you polyurethane over the Crayon/Markers |
Answer: | I don’t see why not, that is if you using the marker, the poly would keep it from rubbing off |
Question: | Are these waterproof? Can they be used for bathroom cabinets? What happens if water often drips down on them |
Answer: | Sorry, my needs have not included "waterproof", however the quality of the colors/coverage is an excellent match. As I check the package I see no qualifiers for this. Here is the manufacturer's Q/A email address for your convenience: [email protected]. Good Luck. |
Question: | Does this work on brown laminate floors |
Answer: | While I don't have direct experience with this brand I have used many other brands of the exact same products. People like that Fred guy calling things glorified pens and crayons shouldn't be listened to. He clearly couldn't be bothered to do any research and learn how to use the products and to get good results you need to put in effort and learn the general idea of how to use them. It's not just rub wax in the scratch and color over with a marker. With that said there is a chance these will work on your floor and look great but I don't know what type of "markers" are in this package. If it has the resin markers they do have a decent shine and depending on the damage you are looking to cover up it could be enough to make the damage not noticeable. Personally I would recommend looking for a stronger filler and "paint" system since you are working on a floor. These marker and wax kits are nothing more than a temporary cover up. In my younger years I worked for a furniture company and we used things like this as well as other things to cover and damage that may have come factory on the furniture or damage caused by us. The idea of stuff like this is to make it look new and last a a couple wipe downs after the customer gets it home so the customer thinks they caused the scratches after a week when they wiped all the soft painted wax away thanks to cleaning. A few good scratches could turn a 1998 $1400 couch in to a $600 couch. I spent a lot of hours a day with a fine paint brush painting wood grain with a fine brush over wax filled cracks and scratches to keep all the furniture looking perfect. Never have we had a customer think the scratches came new when they bought something but twice I remember customers coming back some time later to buy something else and they both made a comment about how easily their expensive furniture got scratched. I don't think it is the right thing to do but I was young and it was my job. This stuff just doesn't last and is not good for a surface that is being walked on. A resin marker is fine but for a floor you need a more solid a permanent filler. |

The product that started it all. Original Gorilla Glue built a name for itself with its incredible, industrial holding power and versatility. The water activated polyurethane formula expands into materials to form an incredibly strong bond to virtually anything. Gorilla Glue is a 100% waterproof glue, safe for indoor and outdoor use and strong enough to stand up to the elements. Gorilla Glue’s your solution for almost any project or repair. Sand it, paint it, and stain it. Simply stated, it’s the Toughest Glue on Planet Earth. Directions: 1. Prepare and Dampen the Surfaces: All surfaces must be clean, dust free and tight fitting. For shiny surfaces, such as metals, glass and some plastics, roughen up the material to give the glue something to bite into. Lightly dampen one surface with water. We recommend using a damp cloth or spraying with water. Do not saturate the surface. For dense hardwoods, lightly dampen both surfaces prior to gluing. 2. Evenly Apply Gorilla Glue Onto the Dry Surface. Carefully apply onto the dry surface. Do not over apply. We recommend wearing gloves or spreading the glue with a disposable brush. 3. Clamp the Two Surfaces Together Tightly. Make sure the clamping pressure is distributed evenly across the surface. Or, if you don’t have a clamp, use heavy objects or Gorilla Tape to achieve the appropriate clamping pressure. Clamp objects for 1–2 hours. For best results, allow 24 hours to cure. 4. Clean up: If you need to remove any uncured “squeeze out” or wet glue, we recommend wiping with a dry cloth or using a standard paint thinner. Once the glue is dry, it is best removed mechanically: Try sanding, chiseling, scraping or picking. 5. Storage Tips: After each use, wipe the bottle’s lid and nozzle clean with a dry cloth. While still squeezing, tightly replace the cap and then store in a cool, dry place. You should expect a year shelf life. User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on vinyl |
Answer: | polyurethane glue sticks to practically everything - including your skin and clothing. One thing you should know about it is that as it dries, Gorilla Glue expands when it cures, creating a foam 3x thicker than the original application. If you are trying to seam-seal vinyl flooring, this would not be a good choice. |
Question: | Does this work with concrete to concrete? My 4' blue stone step fell and I don't want to redo the mortar |
Answer: | Answer: VHB Tape provides the simplicity of a tape fastener with incredible strength. May replace rivets, bolts, screws, spot welds, liquid adhesives and other permanent fasteners. Glue is unaffected be extreme heat, cold, or water - great for indoor and outdoor repairs - 100 Percent waterproof Creates an incredibly strong bond to most surfaces including wood, stone, metal, ceramics, foam, glass, brick, concrete and more Glue expands 3-4 times while penetrating the surfaces for additional strength; Dried glue is paintable, stainable and sandable |
Question: | Can I use this to add tile to painted sheetrock |
Answer: | The glue swells as it dries, it would not be suited for gluing anything together that you would want to be perfectly flat and can not vice together. Since this glue swells according to how much you use, you would have to be pretty darn accurate per tile. |
Question: | How do I get gorilla premium glue off my hands? I have tried thinners, turpentine, meths, petrol & hand cleaner |
Answer: | First off, never use soap and water initially, or it will just make it alot harder (nearly impossible) to remove. The best solution I have found is to just use Goop all by itself first. The stuff with pumice seems to work best. Anyway, apply the Goop to your hands and rub them together vigorously, use one hand to wrap around each finger of the other a clean each finger individually, then repeat with the other hand, then sprwad your fingers on both hands and interlace them to get between all fingers. THEN (very important) wipe off your hands completely with a DRY paper towel or rag. If your hands still feel at all sticky, then do the above AGAIN. Once you have wiped off all the glue and most of the goop with the paper towels you can wash your hands if desired, but it would be best to wait if you can as the goop will continue to break down the slight glue residue. If after all this you still have sticky hands tyou can make them less annoying by applying talcum (baby) powder. |
Product description
Gorilla takes epoxy to a new level—the Gorilla Tough level. With its superior solvent and water resistance, Gorilla Epoxy adhesive is incredibly strong and durable for household and automotive repairs alike. The easy-to-use syringe keeps the epoxy resin and hardener separate, so it is easy to dispense and won’t harden over time. The two-part, gap-filling formula easily bonds steel, aluminum, glass, wood, ceramic, tile and most plastics. Plus, it dries in an ideal, crystal-clear finish that makes projects look spotless. Directions: 1. Prepare Your Work Area and the Surface: It is recommended to use Gorilla Epoxy in a well-ventilated area. Prepare the surface: To improve adhesion, roughen smooth surfaces before gluing. Then clean and dry all surfaces to be bonded. 2. Mixing Gorilla Epoxy: Remove the black cap. With tip pointing upward, cut or snap the end from tip of the syringes. With the tip still pointing upward, eliminate air and ensure even dispensing by slowly pushing the plunger until both the resin and the hardener are at the tip. Push the plunger to dispense even amounts of resin and hardener onto a clean, disposable, contained surface. Mix the two parts for about 20 seconds, until the mixture is uniform. 3. Application: After mixing is complete, apply Gorilla Epoxy within 5 minutes. The epoxy mixture will continue to thicken and the bond strength will decrease the longer you wait to apply. 4. Clamping: To reach maximum bond strength, clamp project together and leave undisturbed. Important Cure Times: Set: 5 minutes to apply and position Handling: Allow to cure for 30 minutes undisturbed (no weight or handling) Final Cure: Allow 24 hours for load-bearing weight Storage: To close, pull plunger slightly back. Wipe tip clean with dry cloth and align notch on tip and cap. Close tightly. Click on the Gorilla link at the top of this page to see more fine products from the Gorilla Glue Company.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will Gorilla glue work on hanging something on ceramic tile |
Answer: | I have zero doubt that it will work. I would prep the surface of the tile with sandpaper or steel wool at the least. |
Question: | Will this work to fix an axe head |
Answer: | I used this to fix a maul head to the handle. It was slipping thru extended use and looked like it would come off soon. First sanded and cleaned the fiberglass handle with acetone to created a rough and clean surface. Then wiped the inside of the mall head with acetone. Mixed up a big batch since I didn't want to fall short of product once I started filling. Applied it liberally to the handle then slipped the head on and used the rest to fill in around any crevice left around the head until it was one pool of epoxy flush with the head top. Let it sit for a day then used. Been over a year and it has not had any sign of slipping and looks the same as when I first glued it on. |
Question: | I need a clear epoxy to cover and protect a circuit i made in a small box mod i made. its for a small 4- 6 volt device. is this ok |
Answer: | Probably YES is your answer with NO guarantees, since I have never used an epoxy to cover ANY type of circuits. I HAVE HOWEVER, used a SILICONE SEALANT (marine grade) also available through AMAZON, to cover AND seal electrical circuits on several watercraft I have owned over the years. ALL with great success. The beauty of the silicone is that it dries clear and can easily be removed while the epoxy dries to an amber hue and is almost impossible to remove. Once it dries, it's there forever. MY suggestion is use a marine grade (waterproof) silicone sealant. GOOD LUCK! |
Question: | I'm thinking of using this on ceramic cookware. Is it heat resistant up to 500 degrees F |
Answer: | MamaO - researched question - Do NOT use Gorilla epoxy on food ceramics. For other ceramics other than food, should be ok up to 180. From 200-500, epoxy will de-compose. / Look for food safe stuff only, but best to not repair your ceramic for food use. What you want is hard to find ! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the desired minimum and maximum temperature to use this spray |
Answer: | I can glue two 1000 piece puzzles together with one bottle. A lot of the reviews suggest applying a lot but I only apply a thin layer, and then another one if there are any weak spots. |
Question: | Does it bond to rubber sealant |
Answer: | I feel like I way over use this glue to be honest. but I do both sides and like to make sure there's a good thick coat because it leaves almost a matte finish. It looks nice but anyway, with my overuse, I use one jar for about 2 front and back 1000 piece puzzles with a little left over. But it does come with 2 jars. so about 5000 pieces worth of really thick front to back coverage. |
Question: | will this work with a saggy car roof |
Answer: | 1st do back of puzzle, place front down on wax paper then coat back two coats, let dry for two days. Flip over n coat front liberally two coats |
Question: | Why is this $7 more than it is at the Home Depot |
Answer: | I always glue the front. Gives a nice sheen when framed. U can do either BUT if the back of the pieces are green not plain cardboard BEWARE you MUST glue the front. I learned the hard way and had to buy same puzzle and do all over again. The green bled thru!!! It was a very difficult puzzle. The puzzle company sent me a new one free of charge and in another 6 mons it was finally ready to frame. Now I always glue from the top!! |
