Answer:	I don't have a long hair dog however I have heavy shredded (sheppard, great pynees mix) and do not have any trouble. You can easily take the roller off to clean. I love the Miele, one possible negative is the dust collector cup is small.

I would only buy Miele products at an actual store where you can make certain all the parts work together. I went through weeks of frustration and finally got a local vacuum store to help me after considerable financial investment. The electrobrush was never going to work with my model despite all the assurances given me by the Miele customer service reps.
