Question:	Dishwasher safe
Answer:	I would not recommend dishwasher as the container has 2 layers. Dish soap and water. Very easy cleanup.

Answer:	I have never done that so I am unsure. It's pretty sturdy plastic so maybe it's possible.
Question:	What are the dimensions of both the smaller and larger buckets
Answer:	The large one is 9 3/4" wide, 7" deep, 8 3/4 tall, 16" with the lid open, this was important to me because my cabinets are 15 1/2 above the counter. So I must pull it in front of the cabinets to open all the way. It seems worth it because I had to empty the small one every day and the removable rim holds the bag in place. It does such a good job of holding the bad smells in that I don't mind letting it fill up for 2 or 3 days. The small one is 7" wide 7" deep7 1/2 if you count the tab in front, 7" tall, 14 1/2 with the lid open. They both taper so they are a little smaller at the bottom.

Answer:	Folks, you must really stop and think. IF you know nothing of composting, read up on it! You use food scraps to put in your COMPOSTER in your YARD. This BIN, is used to temporarily store the food scraps until you have enough to take to the composter. where the food scraps break down, compost and turn into dirt. it is magical and you can even stand and watch it happen. However, you might well wear out waiting for it to happen. IF you have a tumbler composter, you can turn food scraps into dirt in 2 weeks otherwise, it will take much longer but the rewards are great. Before composting, we were buying potting soil for the garden to plant the veggies and flowers into. Now, with compost, we only occasionally will purchase fertilizer but stick pretty much to the compost. I am using right now 7 different bins for composting and turn it out rapidly. If you read up on it, you can actually learn and then you will not need to ask some of the questions I have seen in here. Good luck!

Answer:	yes, I've had it a week and I noticed fruit flies around it and the inside was filled with larvae. The larvae were even in the filter and around the edge of the lid where it holds the filter in. The bin was easy to clean but the lid was a pain to wash out and I left it all outside to wash again before bringing into the house.
Question:	how do you change the charcoal filter
Answer:	I have found two methods that work for me: 1. finger pinch - usually works for the first filter, but not so well for the second and 2. (my favorite) thick end of a chopstick or a thick bar stir stick. I always have a few chopsticks sets laying around and I found that thicker end will not poke a hole in your filters. Just push it through one of the top holes and it will push both filters far enough out so that you can grab them with your hands. For the hot second of annoyance that you might feel about needing extra equipment, it is so worth it! The double filter is a life and nose saver. Trust me! On a side note: I recommend that you pick up a extra set of round filters for every square/circle replacement pack you buy. The bottom (round filter) will need to be replaced more often then the top (square) filter. If the bottom filter gets wet accidentally (usually happens when I over fill the bin), it will mold and FAST. Top filter stays pretty dry, so you will not have to change it as often. How to avoid stainless steel rust

1. If the stainless steel surface contains dust of other metal elements or attachment of dissimilar metal particles. In humid air, the condensed water between the attached material and the stainless steel connects the two into a micro battery, triggering an electrochemical reaction. The protective film is destroyed, which is called electrochemical corrosion.

2. The surface of the stainless steel adheres to the organic juice (such as melon, noodle soup, etc.), which will constitute an organic acid in the presence of water and oxygen, and the organic acid will corrode the metal surface.

3. The surface of the stainless steel adheres to acid, alkali, and salt substances (such as splash of alkaline water and lime water), will cause local corrosion.

4. In polluted air (such as the atmosphere containing a large amount of sulfide, carbon oxide, nitrogen oxide), sulfuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid liquid spots will form in the condensed water, causing chemical corrosion.

5. Please take care to avoid the damp environment and avoid washing with steel balls and bleaching agents or abrasives.

All of these can cause the stainless steel surface protection film to corrode, then causing rust. Therefore, in order to ensure that the metal surface is bright and not rusted, we recommend:

1. Rinse with neutral cleaner. Dry them after washing.

Answer:	yes you need to use a bag...there are openings in the container that will let things drop through..I really like mine, and a bag lasts me for weeks...I only use it for coffee grounds and egg shells and than throw the bag on my garden (bags are biodegradable)..
Question:	Aren't they supposed to have some kind of bottom tray to drain in? This one does not seem to have that
Answer:	To use this container, you also need to use compostable bags. These compostable bags can only be composted using industrial methods. I live in San Francisco where compost is picked up with trash and recycling. Put the compost bag into the compost bin. If you have a back yard composting system, you won't be able to break down the bags. In that case, you should not get this container but instead get a container that does not need a bag.

It may be a loose fit. This is normal. Then insert the round filter in the lid ring to control moisture and odors. It may be a snug fit. This is normal. To remove the filters, reverse the procedure. Gently pinch or fold the filters with your fingers as needed during insertion or removal. Do not use sharp objects with the filters as this may cause damage. Answer:	We have had this compost bin for a year and a half and absolutely love it. We have never had this problem. I would say make sure you keep the lid on tightly, change the filters as recommended, and perhaps empty it more frequently? Hope this helps.

Answer:	This doesn't have a "bottom tray to drain in." I use BioBags and there's virtually no leaking. Having said that, when I dump the bin into the organics bin for weekly pickup, there is a slight amount of moisture at the bottom of the bin. Hope this helps.

Question:	How often should I replace the charcoal filter
Answer:	Even with the green Biobag inserted into the canister, the lid does slide around a little, however, there is no odor or fruit flies. (I store mine on a slide-out shelf under my kitchen sink, so I haven't had experience with it being stored on my countertop.) I also place a couple of clean paper towels (folded to fit) at the bottom of the canister because moisture can develop at the bottom and it just makes clean up easier.
Question:	Will the filter fall out of the lid
Answer:	I purchased mine directly from Natural Home. I bought six packs at a time, in order to qualify for free shipping, and so that I would have them on hand. If you call them, they will tell you exactly which size will fit your bin (unless you can figure it out from their website). For my 1-Gallon bin I bought the 6-inch 2-Pack Replacement Filters. I found them ever so slightly too big, which means the filter didn't smooth out as nicely as the replacement filters that came with the bin, which fit perfectly. Oh well. I guess they can be trimmed a little, or do as I did and just jam them in there. I may try trimming the filter next time.

Answer:	I don't know. There are no "made in........" markings that I can see anywhere on the container.

Answer:	No mold here. I do cook a lot of vegetables, so I empty mine into our compost a couple of times a wedk. I do use biodegradable liners that I hold in solids and make emptying it easier. Mf
