Answer:	The filter should be able to process a gallon of water in less than 10 minutes. Two fixes ... 1. There could be an air bubble trapped in the filter or tube, to remove it, unscrew the end cap that is attached to the tube and filter (make sure you do not get water on the drinking water outlet), then screw the cap tight again and test the flow. 2. Use the included backwashing syringe to clear the filter, there might be much debris from turbid water slowing your flow.

Answer:	If you are asking if the rotors need to be turned down (machined) before installing them...no. I personally installed the rotors out of the box and they work perfectly...smooth and quiet braking. The most difficult part of replacing them was removing the center screws that hold them in place. I had to use an impact screw driver to get them loose. Good luck.

Answer:	Jeffery - great question. An Epic water filter will filter about 200 gallons of water (Brita will do about 40). As the filter gets closer to the 200 gallons, it will get slower and slower at filtering water until it no longer passes water. That's when you know it is time for a new filter. Keep in mind, the more contaminated your water is, the shorter the life of the filter. On average, we are seeing filters last most customers between 4 and 6 months depending on usage and water quality. Personally, I like the fact that my filter gets slower over the life of the filter so that I know it is actually working. I had other brands in the past and they keep filtering water way past their expected life at almost the same rate and I always wondered if they worked. Thanks, Joel

Answer:	For those like myself who were disappointed to discover Aquagear is no longer here on Amazon, they do still have their own website where you can buy both the water pitcher and/or filter replacements. You can even subscribe to receive a new filter every 6 months which gives you 20 percent off. I love it because it is a reminder to me to replace. Answer:	You are right about the 2 ounces being the filter only-that is what Sawyer advertises. The entire unit, inside the packaging is 4.8 ounces. I cannot take it out to weigh the items outside the packaging as I would need to destroy the container to get them out. I am guessing the plastic covering weighs less than an ounce so the entire unit probably weighs about 4 ounces.
Question:	Your literature says " removes contaminants from Fresh Water". What about algae covered ponds and swimming pools?s
Answer:	This filter is advertised as up to 100,000 gallons by Sawyer. When you begin to notice a decrease in flow, I recommend back flushing with potable water using the included syringe. I normally keep an ounce or two of 90% isopropyl alcohol to sanitize the drinking tip and any tubes I may use when setting up different systems. After use and before long term storage (especially if you filtered a lot of biologically questionable water), it is recommended to run a sanitizing solution of bleach/water (1tbsp plain, unscented bleach to 1 gallon water) through the filter then rinse very well with potable water, shake out vigorously and allow to air dry for several days before capping and placing into storage. An unopened filter should have indefinite shelf life unless it is subjected to extreme temperatures, hot or cold.
Question:	Does this filter viruses
Answer:	Sawyer's claim for the filter is that it removes 99.99999% of all harmful bacteria and 99.9999% of protozoa. Viruses are not included nor are other impurities mentioned. Answer:	YES. The ebola virus is 0.08 microns in size. Almost no filter will remove this. BUT the LifeStraw Family filters to 0.02 microns, so yes ebola would be filtered out. That is if it mutates to survive in our water supply, which is unknown.

Answer:	On the next packaging run, the shelf life comment will be removed. A short shelf life was stated on original packaging as the product was designed for the high temperatures and stress of the African environment. Stored in our homes here in the USA, there's nothing to cause the product to degrade or expire. Direct and constant sunlight will cause any plastic to eventually degrade, which is why the lifespan statement was developed. If you use it for camping and periodically use and store it, it's a good idea to flush it with tap water and allow it to dry before storing.

Answer:	Well, I had the same issue. But I found the solution —> DONT let the water boil all the way down. Because everything left behind are the chemicals left over and it gets boiled over & distilled and ruins the taste of the rest of the water. So boil till you have about an inch or 1/2 inch left of water. Then taste it and you’ll taste the difference.

Answer:	It has an automatic shut off from a thermal switch. Depending on what is in each person's water, you will have different levels of residue in the boil chamber when the cycle is finished. However, the interior is still moist when finished so they are not baked on. The unit comes with a bottle of residue cleaner to assist with cleaning.

Answer:	I wrote to the company and they said that all parts for the distiller can be purchased. I'm not sure I would recommend working on the distiller, though. I worked on 2 Waterwise model 4000 distillers and they were a bit tricky to work on. After a lot of use, these Waterwise distillers needed new heat transfer paste (the paste dries up sooner or later) and I had two fuses blow after quite a bit of use. What I notice to far is that, at least externally, the Megahome distiller has a much better design and construction than the Waterwise distiller. I haven't had the Megahome distiller apart yet.

Question 2: What should I do if the water distilled from the new product smells of plastic and metal?

Answers:

The main material of the product is stainless steel, and the sealing ring is made of silica gel, so the distilled water distilled from the new product will smell of plastic and metal. It is recommended that you clean the product after receiving the product, and the water distilled twice with distilled water is not drinkable, and the distilled water will not have any peculiar smell when you use it for the third time.

Question 3: What should I do if the dirt is very difficult to clean?

Answers:

First, soak in warm water + citric acid or baking soda for 20 minutes, and then use a brush to easily wash off the dirt.

Secondly, it is recommended that you use a timer socket to stop the distiller before the water is completely boiled off, so that the scale will not stick to the inner wall and it is very easy to clean.

It is not recommended to use this distiller to distill seawater.

The composition of sea water is very complex, and there are other ingredients besides salt. In addition, the finally distilled water will still taste salty and bitter, which is not suitable for human consumption.
