Question:	I need replacement o-rings, where can I find
Answer:	O Rings for these can be found at Home Depot or Lowes. They are the same size as for standard cold water filters.
Question:	Can this also be effectively used for cold water? We want to install filters prior to connection to a new washing machine on a well water supply
Answer:	I suspect the unit can be used for cold water as it uses standard size filter cartridges (2.5 x 9.875 in.). However the unit is made from material to stand up to hot water which would not be necessary for cold water applications. There are cheaper alternatives available at Amazon and the big box stores that would work just fine (read the reviews). I also have a "cold water whole house filter" in my home for sediment, but needed the hot water filter to take out calcite that precipitates out after the water is heated. The hot water cartridges are more costly.
Question:	can this be used for under sink hot water line? bathroom
Answer:	I don't see why it shouldn't work fine on an under-sink hot water line.

Answer:	Smelly Hot Water It is common for cold water with a high sulfate content to transform from odor free to obnoxiously smelly after passing through the hot water heater. Typically the sulfates react with the magnesium (and even the aluminum) anode rod to chemically reduce the sulfate to sulfide. It is also speculated the smell may be the magnesium rod reacting with naturally occurring anaerobic bacteria creating hydrogen sulfide gas. To rectify the problem the magnesium rod needs to be replaced with an anode rod comprised of an aluminum/zinc alloy rod. This specialty anode rod is less reactive with the sulfate thus eliminating the reduction reaction. The cost for a typical 39” anode rod is $70.00. It is important to sanitize the hot water heater with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine at the time of anode rod replacement. The Importance of Anode Rods Sacrificial anode rods are used to protect the steel body of the hot water tank. When two metals are present in water electrolysis occurs. The less noble/stable metal will corrode while the more stable will remain in tact. When steel and copper are together as in most plumbing systems the steel is less noble and will corrode. To protect the hot water heater a sacrificial anode rod is an integral part of the design. The anode rod is typically comprised of magnesium or a combination of aluminum/zinc. These metals will sacrifice themselves leaving the steel water heater in tact. To remain useful the rod should be changed approximately every five years.

Question:	Will the filter compress a bit when I tighten the canister to the inlet/outlet section? The filters seem a bit too long
Answer:	Yes they are designed slightly long to create the upper and lower seal. Located on the bottom of the water filter sump and the under side of the filter head are sharp circular rings. These rings cut into the water filter cartridge to create the seal. The cartridge is made of polypropylene which is slightly pliable. Therefore when the filter sump is screwed to the head the cartridge gets squeezed and the rings create a circular crease on the bottom and top of the cartridge creating a seal.
Question:	Do the filters reduce scale buildup in a whole-house humidifier? I have city tap water, and humidifier is connected to hot water
Answer:	You have to put the filter on the cold water side to do that, and yes they help keep all kinds of stuff out but it is not a water softener as in sand trap filters or distilling processes the water. I have included the following explanation:Hot Water Protector Technical InformationThe "Hot Water Protector" type cartridges will protect plumbing systems, especially hot water systems, from corrosion and scale accumulation. The active ingredient is FDA approved Siliphos. This contains an ideal combination of orthophosphates and polyphosphates. The orthophosphates react with naturally occurring calcium bicarbonates in the water supply to form a thin, tight, non-corrosive, passivating film on pipe walls. This film is almost like a glass coating, separating the water from the metal plumbing/hot water system. The polyphosphate ingredient sequesters hardness mineral content. Normally if there is significant calcium bicarbonate (soluble hardness) in the water supply it will revert to calcium carbonate (insoluble precipitate) when heated. Calcium carbonate is referred to as scale. This scale creates incredible inefficiency. 1/8" scale formation in a hot water system can increase energy demands 30-40%. Answer:	Hello Daniel, great questions thanks for asking! The KDF-55 Media creates a bacteriostatic environment within the filtration system, preventing microbial growth. The oxidation/reduction potential (ORP) shift by a factor of -300mV or more for water filtered through KDF redox media controls microorganism growth. Treating water reduces bacteria and other microorganisms by disrupting electron transport, causing cellular damage. KDF process media also kill bacteria by direct electrochemical contact and by the flash formation of hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxide, both of which interfere with a microorganism's ability to function. When it comes to fluoride, it only reduces the levels by 20-30% on average, not a high enough percentage for us to claim as a benefit.

Answer:	I did not have that problem with mine I purchased two months ago. Does your hot water coming out of your kitchen faucet also taste sour. If not I would suggest running all the water out of the hot water tank and letting itfill back up and try it then. Question:	after several years, can the filter burst and cause a flood in the house
Answer:	Just to be clear, you should not be washing your hands with this faucet - that is not its intended usage. The water gets extremely hot (i.e. boiling) and whether or not it mixes with any other water, it is not intended for washing hands. Also, the product does not produce COLD water; rather, it pulls water from your regular tap, and whatever temperature that water is, that's what you get when you pull the "cold" lever - it does not chill your tap water. Again, for that reason, if you wash your hands using the hot lever, you will burn yourself. Finally, this is a very slow flow faucet, as the faucet itself is very thin, so you will not get very good pressure for the purpose of washing hands. It is intended for and good at producing water for filling a glass or mug. Hope this helps.
Question:	Does anyone have specifications for what the filters actually take out of the water, either for the ISE or the Franke
Answer:	Backwards away from the sink. Travel is about 1.25" back from full off to full on.
Question:	I replaced my filter and the tank began leaking from the bottom. Has anyone experienced this ? Any suggestions to fix
Answer:	I'm not sure what the temperature range is, but it's hot enough to make soup, instant coffee, etc. overall it's a great product and worth the money. The only issue to watch out for is the thickness of your countertops. If they are too thick it will need recessed which can be difficult with granite or similar .

Answer:	Current lots of beans are Grade A with average length 14 cm and up and moisture content testing at 30 percent currently. Beans are soft, pliable and have good aromatics with a nice outer sheen.

Answer:	Hi Ominous Tidings thank you for your question. These beans are grown and cured in a tradional method of vanilla tahitensis. None of our vanilla products are quick cured beans. The process takes months starting with the killing the bean, sweating, sunning, sweating, slow drying and then conditioning. These bean however are not vanilla tahitensis grown in Tahiti which we are currently out of stock until early August or September and you will find again on our Amazon store. The moisture content in these beans is also lower than you would find in a Tahitian bean from Tahiti which for grade A have an average moisture content of 45-50 percent for that specific bean. Answer:	Hi Moni. These beans would be grade b beans based on internationally recognized standards. They are sold as grade A in the country of orgin due to curing techniques used in Indonesia. The moisture content is lower than the 33% moisture of grade A beans but some Chef's do not mind this and actually prefer because you get more beans to the pound; however a very good quality bean is very fragrant. Answer:	The grades of vanilla beans are an international standard that based on several characteristics. A) the average length of the vanilla bean. For grade A this is 14 cm and above. For grade b this is 10-14 cm. B) Moisture content also referred to as humidity level. Grade A vanilla has an average moisture content of 30-35 percent. Making the vanilla beans more supple, pliable and easy to use in baking applications. Grade b is lower in moisture with an average moisture content of 23-27 percent. The vanilla beans are less supple and pliable and often distinguished by red variegation running up and down the length of the vanilla pod. C) physical appearance, grade A are visually attractive with no splits, tears or cuts while grade b all can be present. In terms of who grades them: vanilla is grade several times checking the above mentioned factors during the curing, conditioning and sorting process. Which is the best for value is really a matter of what you intend to do with the vanilla beans. If your goal is to do some baking with the vanilla beans then using a grade A or gourmet bean is better suited to this task. If you simply want to make vanilla extract then a grade B vanilla bean is the recommended choice. Many people wrongly or incorrectly assume that grade b vanilla beans are older and not as fresh when this is actually not the case. Grade b vanilla is purposely dried for longer periods of time to reduce the moisture content for making vanilla extract. This does result in beans that some users may find harder to use if they insist on slicing the vanilla beans rather than simply chopping the vanilla beans with is more effective. Grade A vanilla can be used for both cooking and making vanilla extract but does, technically speaking, require slightly more vanilla beans per cup, gallon etc. due to its naturally higher moisture content. Grade b is only intended for making vanilla extract but some users may try using grade b for both cooking and baking thinking it’s slightly lower price is better value for their purpose but often can end up frustrated due to the naturally lower moisture that is incorrectly assumed as being old. Size ultimately is the biggest determining factor in grading of vanilla beans and anything that is below 14 cm will usually fall in the grad b category regardless of moisture and appearance. Answer:	Hi Janet, thank you for your question. Once opened vanilla can be stored in many different ways to preserve the long term integrity of the product. Below we will list several ways in which vanilla can be stored: 1) Upon opening vanilla can be resealed using a house hold food saver 2) wrap in heavy wax paper and double ziplock bag airing out every several days to prevent stale air and allow circulation around the vanilla beans 3) Vanilla can be covered in sugar and removed when needed, please note sugar will also pull moisture from the beans and you will also have vanilla sugar 4) vanilla pods can be place in vodka whole as a preservation method and removed when needed by cutting the tip and squeezing the seeds to remove 5) vanilla beans can be scrapped removing the seeds and placing in an air tight jar or ziplock bag, the now empty pod can be used to flavor vanilla extract or vanilla sugar, the seeds will keep for quite some time and can be used as needed. Grade A vanilla should always be stored in an airtight container and monitored once open as even small air flows or excessive humidity outside of storage norms can sometimes contribute to this. We always encourage customers to buy what they are going to use and not leave excessive vanilla laying around unless you either are able to vacuum seal the product or continue to dry the product to a lower moisture content then grade A which is an average of 33 percent plus moisture. The mold affects the outside of the bean and can be removed by wiping with a alcohol moist towel or simply by using your fingers and then used for vanilla extract. Answer:	Idk I got a small and I'm a size 4. The top was snug but the bottom fit fine. Plus I am 5'3" and the pants were not that long especially if u wear heels.

Question:	Just received. It appears a lot of water bypasses the filter, can someone confirm this is not the case? Mine is just like customer uploaded photo
Answer:	Not a filter, a water treatment cartridge. Rated at 10gpm by the manufacture, a small amount of the water flow is diverted down into the cartridge through a single hole in the elevated tab, in the center of the tee. The polyphosate is slowly dissolved and a small amount of treated water flows back up and out 3 small holes around the elevated tab. According to the manufacture it only takes 2-3 parts per million to treat for scale. A little bit will do ya.
Question:	Does this help with water spots on glasses and scaling on bathroom fixtures
Answer:	We have a lot of calcium in our well water. The heat from the hot water tank is what causes the minerals to form scale. We placed this on the cold water side of the hot water tank and noticed a big improvement in water quality, especially on shower doors and dish washer. I have changed it twice now. The first time at 3 mos because the info says it can clean up existing scale in pipes and fixtures. The bottom line is if your water is very hard that will affect how much benefit you get from this product. So will you be happy with a 50% improvement in quality? I know I am cleaning faucet screens a lot less. Still have a jug of vinegar around though! Hope this helps.
Question:	GPM seems to low. I have 2 Tankless units, EACH one does 9 GPM
Answer:	we have an electric tank less that is rated at 4.5 GPM. We have very hard water in this part of MA and also have a well. We have been in this house for 30 years and have had problems with pipes rotting away. When we installed the electric tank less we installed this filter also. We used the heater for a few months and than had the plumber perform the maintenance suggested by the tank less mfg. It was clean as a whistle. Our flow rate is not as high as yours but if you had one in line with each heater - i would think it would work fine. Our heater used 120A for 4.5 GPM - if yours is electric it most use a lot of power! For our use I am very satisfied with the filter and given our water quality situation and how clean the heater was - i would highly recommend this filter.KR in MA

Answer:	In my opinion, if this is collecting any particles before getting into Tankless water heater, the particle should fall in vertical direction so filter should be installed in vertical direction. I installed my filter in vertical direction before cold water is getting in to the tankless. In order to get a right answer, it would be the manufacture because they are the one who designs the filter.

The KleenWater KW2520SCALEX system is designed for pre-filtration for all tankless and traditional hot water tank systems. Our filtration system includes a transparent water filter housing, bracket, wrench and three 2.5 x 20 inch polyphosphate water filter cartridges.



The KW2520SCALEX system can also be installed at the "point of entry" to provide anti scale, sediment and anti corrosion filtration to the entire home. Thus all plumbing components and water using appliances are protected from both hard water and corrosive acid water. This filter housing is manufactured in Italy and is constructed of polyethylene which is the considered a safe choice by specialists in the food and beverage industry. Answer:	Hi Anita, thank you for your question. Unfortunetly no you cannot replant vanilla beans in order to grow more vanilla or orchidis. This is due to the fact that vanilla beans are a cured/fermented product that in order to become vanilla as we know it must first be taken through a series of steps with what are raw green vanilla beans. The first step in the process begins with the killing of the vanilla beans by submerging in a hot water bath of 70 degrees Celsius and then sweating in crates, sun drying, sweat and and further conditioning. The best way to grow vanilla is through the use of vanilla cuttings which can be difficult to source. Vanilla is also only grown in about 6-7 regions in the world that have the proper growing seasons and environmental factors so this plant can thrive. Hawaii is the only region in the US that is ideal for growing vanilla beans.

Answer:	I bought a package of 10 vanilla beans. I cut them both long ways and then into pieces. I placed them in a 32 ounce bottle of a good vodka.

Answer:	i love love my water dispenser. the instructions does call for ventilation so i'm not sure about the cabinet; there's venting on both sides so it does not need a lot of space. i have saved $$$ and plastic by investing in this awesome machine.

Question:	Will this work properly connected to a reverse osmosis filter
Answer:	The water cooler has a water inlet connector. I would suggest that you place the reverse osmosis filtration system in line before the water cooler. As long as you can connect the water outlet of the reverse osmosis filtration system to the inlet of the water cooler there should be no reason for it to not work properly. You would definitely want to be sure that you have a shut off valve connected to your reverse osmosis outlet placed prior to the connection to the water cooler because maintenance of the cooler can entail disconnecting from the water source.
