We have always used about 1/4 cup of oil (redenbacker popcorn oil if we can find it - or - Veggie oil mixed with some butter). About 1/2 cup of Redenbacker or another cauliflower (premium carnival and movie theater popping corn) popcorn. We DO NOT use the butter cap on the top of the vent. Let it vent out the moisture and stuff. Don't clog up those vent holes with butter. We use the microwave to melt and pour on additional butter. I have never - since I first started using this popper in the 80's -- never had soggy or moist popcorn. I was in the service - my job entailed working in a room with no windows and 13 or 15 of us at a time. We popped using this tool for 1/2 of my 20 years. Thru 2 wars/actions - and a couple times per 12 hour shift. Fast and easy and easy clean up. Since the 80's ... this is my second machine - getting ready for my third. DON'T use the cap on it and don't use the butter melting suggestions - the popcorn will be done before the butter is melted. |

Here's an easy way to tell. She told me to read the number on the bottom of the black disk. Mine said 1416. She said that means it was made the 14th week of 2016, and they were BPA free as of the first week. So I'm guessing as long as your disk ends in 16 or higher (for in the future), you're good to go. |

| Answer: | The gears are metal. Do not let that fool you into thinking that this is a quality product. The fit on the parts is horrible. It took 15 - 20 minutes of bending pieces to make it work acceptably -- the gears did not mesh properly and would slip if there was any resistance. And the stirrer did not reach the bottom of the pan, so it skipped over the popcorn. Buy an original Whirley Pop. Last time I checked, it was the same price. We had one for 15+ years. The only reason we replaced it with this product was because the lid's hinge broke. The nylon gears still showed NO wear after all that usage. I ended up buying some small galvanized hinges to repair the Whirley Pop and tossed the Cook N Home in storage. |

| Answer: | I never popped two "loads" in a row, but I don't see why you couldn't do a second load once the first load was emptied from the plastic container and immediately popped once new oil and un-popped popcorn were added. You do have to let the rotating heater (attached to the base in use) coll for 20 (or maybe 30 ) minutes to let it cool before putting it in dishwasher as it stays hot for awhile. |

| Answer: | I've used Orville Redenbacher's butter flavoured oil, and some shake-on stuff that I bought at WalMart, and it's fine. I haven't experimented much as I prefer just to pop the corn and add butter and salt after it's popped. |
