Answer:	It's important to poke the hole into the fat end of the egg. This is because each egg has an air pocket at this end. And set the egg into the tray with the hole up so that this sulphury air can properly escape. You're venting the nasty stuff that you don't want infusing into the egg. Venting makes the eggs look great and taste great. Just remember, wide-end up.

Answer:	Mine (the stainless steel with "No Alert" option) shuts off automatically. I've noticed that it will cut back on if left alone for several minutes, though. I guess the water drips back down from the dome and the sensor thinks it's time to cook again. Since that happened, I try to flip the switch off right after they're done.

Answer:	I have one and the aluminum insert got all black from the dishwasher. Going to buy a new one and hand wash it. It works great. On my low wattage microwave 10-11 minutes is perfect for hard boiled eggs. Haven't tried soft boiled eggs.

Answer:	I have used it several times, at the 4, 5, and 6 minute times for soft medium and harder cooked eggs. My microwave is strong--1000w output. Never had any explosion or even boil over of water. You will need oven mitts to take it from the microwave, and I generally run cold water over eggs for a few seconds before I peel. But everything has worked just fine for me. And eggs come out perfect.

Answer:	It withstands oven temperature pans .. I put pans on it that have been in 400 degree oven. I really don’t know the answer about it being over the fryer but I don’t see a problem. Answer:	I have several high precision measuring tools at my disposal and I am consistently getting 1.65mm to 1.7mm on my mat. Being generous since it's easy to mis-measure a soft rubber, 1.8mm would be the max. That said, it's thicker than most other kitchen mats and seems pretty decent. The photos in this listing make it look deceptively thick for some reason. If you need thicker it's hard to find without going to a much larger piece from an industrial roll.

In the bottom part, I take the shrimp or whatever meat I prepared, and put it on a plate. I then put a protective cover on my table and put the upper part of the steamer on it, and serve the vegetables so as to not dirty another dish to wash.
