Answer:	Yes, it recharges when it is plugged in. I operate a produce stand and used it everyday then charged it at night. However, the battery lasted a month and replacement batteries are not available so now it only works when plugged in. There is a light that comes on to show it is plugged in but not whether it is charging. Save yourself some aggravation and purchase a higher quality scale.
