Question:	What size are the fasteners holding the base plate on? It looks like a security bit torx but standard bits interfere with the hole sides
Answer:	I have no idea how to tell what size the fasteners are because I am not sure where they are. Plus, I do have this iron yet, but am donating it to our local recyling store as I disliked the iron so much. It was way too heavy for me, and the rubberized cord drug on the ironing board and made it more difficult yet to iron.

Answer:	I don't know what you consider a "self cleaning" iron. In order to keep this iron clean, I use distilled water and refill it at the end of ironing and then press the clean button. Once a month, I fill with vinegar and press the clean button. This is my 3rd Shark iron, and the prior to only failed due to dropping on the floor.

Answer:	Yes you can see where the water is because there is an inside measuring instrument. You will clearly see up to what point you should fill it up. However, it makes no sense to waste your money and buy this iron because over time it is going to start leaking water from the bottom. All this does is to wet up your clothes, iron board and constantly having you do a re-fill. Makes no sense to get this as a steam iron. It doesn't serves the purpose for long.

Answer:	If you leave the iron on:. horizontally without moving it, it will automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. The power indicator will blink to indicate the iron has stopped heating.. on its heel rest without moving it, the iron will automatically turn off after several minutes. Power indicator will blink.The power indicator will continue to blink until the iron is unplugged or reset. These are the instructions which come with the iron and I have found them to be accurate.

Answer:	Beware of using tap water. I love this iron and am replacing it with the exact same brand and model. That said, I plan to use only distilled water in my new one. After using this iron with tap water for 3 or 4, I started getting rust marks on fabric when ironing and tiny black specks of something that didn't penitrate the fabric. After going on line and reading about rust in irons, it is most likely caused by a buildup of minerals inside the steam vents from using tap water. I tried cleaning with vinegar and water but stuff is still coming out of it so am replacing it.

Answer:	Add me to the group! I purchased this iron a year ago. A year and TEN days ago. I know this because this morning when water started pouring out of my iron, I had to look up the date of purchase, so I could use my spiffy one year warranty. So much for that!! One year, and this pretty expensive iron is broken, ten days after the warranty expires. I am beyond frustrated, reading that this has happened to others who purchased one of these irons. My last iron was $12 at Walmart and lasted 15 years, four moves, 2 children, and a serviceman who wore BDU's, which needed to be ironed, five days a week. Get the warranty!!

Answer:	Yes they are. That's part of what you're paying the high price for. I had another Rowenta iron similar to this and it had over 100 temperature settings. This is important if you iron a variety of delicate synthetic fabrics, because the cheap irons just don't "cut" it.

I can only use mine as a dry iron anymore. Read all the online reviews for this model. Leaking seems to be a common problem with these Rowenta's.

Answer:	I think the cleaning tap water after each use demand is reflective of the answer whether to utilize distilled H2O. I drink only distilled water for the past 30 years as it removes all impurities including radioactive isotopes ending up at 6.9 ph. Tap water is targeted at 7.2 ph, human blood 7.4 ph. Removal of the intended steam water after each use solves the standing water colloidalization of metal; then distilled no cleaning demand. For me, I will use this method with DISTILLED WATER and see my last iron last over 30 years until it breaks from age old wear. New iron, why should I change a sure thing of past experience; nope!

Question:	What is the main difference between the Digital Advantage and this one
Answer:	I'm sorry! Jennifer but, I don't know the answer. What I can tell you is that, this is a great iron. The thing I like about this iron is, the auto shut-off. If you leave this iron an attendant, the red light won't stop blinking. And I will shut down but, it will be still on as long as it's plugged in the socket. But the iron will start cooling down, until you place the iron on a flat surface. Then it will begin to start getting hot again, I like this feature because. If you forget to leave the iron on, you don't have worry about burning anything because the Iron Will cool down. Black & Decker makes great irons, that's why I Will Always by this type of iron.

Answer:	Fortunately, the items come together. The only portion that requires assistance is the pole where the steamer is placed. It's very easy to work with, so you will look forward to using the steamer.

Answer:	I bought this one a few weeks ago and I love it. It does everything I need it to, quickly and with very little effort. Quick and easy to put together and get started.
Question:	what kind of water is best to use
Answer:	I don't have this steamer, but I imagine the instructions say distilled water is best. Cost about a dollar or less per gallon. Distilled water has been evaporated and then condensed back into liquid form. This means it doesn't have calcium and other minerals in it that will form deposits in the unit.

Answer:	I was shocked to see on my Rowenta iron that it was made in China, not in Germany like all the advertisements said. I’m pretty disgusted. My first Rowenta iron was made in Germany. When did they change?

Answer:	I looked up maytag on wikipedia and google, they have plants in the US and in Mexico but also own and are connected to many other brands which are made outside the US and Americas. Supposedly the laundry related supplies are made in the US and Mexico. Well, tracking down this exact product seems elusive but do believe that most of the irons that come up on an Amazon search for USA ARE NOT MADE HERE AT ALL-THEY NEED TO FIX THAT ITS FRUEDULENT

Question:	Do your fingers/knuckles accidentally hit/touch the control knob when grasping
Answer:	YES! and it drives me NUTS! very bad design for the dial. I fixed it though.....put a nice piece of DUCT TAPE it to set it on hot. Not a bid deal for me, I only use it on the hot setting for dress shirts.
Question:	What is the delux vs regular
Answer:	1. The delux has over 400 holes in the soleplate, the standard has over 300. The more holes you have the more steam you will get. 2. The delux has a retractable cord the standard does no. The retractable cord allows for neater appearance and quicker storage. With my experience, the cord on the standard will eventually developen a short. 3. The delux has an illuminated electronic control while the standard has an indicator dial. There are a couple of other minor features but personally, I felt that if the difference was just the extra holes I would still select the delux.
Question:	any dripping issues with the chi? how does it compare to rowena
Answer:	There is no dripping. I do a lot of ironing so I always get the top of the line iron. I have 3 of rowenta's best irons that leaks and one where the stainless steel plate gets gummed up with the slightest use of starch. The quality of the rowenta has gone way down. I decided to buy the CHI aftER reading up on the iron. So far I'm very pleased and I don't have to clean the plate after every use. One more thing, I bought the deluxe model and paid 141.00 and later on found that everyone else sells the iron for 99.00. Did not think that amazon would allow vendors to hose their customers this way. I guess from now on I'll check other sites before making my decision where I'll spend my money.
