Answer:	This is a very sturdy ironing board. There is a very thick plastic 'spacer' if you will between the leg bars, and the other plastic piece is the black, circular leg clip (to hold the board together when folded). I think this is the best board out there, and the pieces I described are very solid, thick plastic - almost glass like. Hope this helped you.

Answer:	No, however I have found the iron rest to be very useful. It has silicone strips on it which allows you to place a hot iron in it while you are ironing. This allows you full, unobstructed use of the entire ironing board. I also use it as a hanger rack when I'm ironing.

Answer:	I just derived the weight by the soul-crushing method of weighing myself (sob), then weighing myself holding the ironing board. The difference is 12 pounds. Answer:	Sure the door not affixed to the framing so this can be easily painted to match wall colors or whatever color one desires.

Answer:	Door can be right or left depending on how you mount door. Door is symmetrical so can be mounted upside down if one ones to mount and open from opposite side of framing.
Question:	Can the door hinge be switched to the other side so it opens to the left
Answer:	Yes and no. To switch the hinge side, you will need to flip the door and move the garment bar & roller catch. This require you to putty and paint the holes. This works for most door styles, though is not recommended for the Raised White door because of its termafoil coating. We often recommend customers order the unit with a left hand hinge to start with (not available thru Amazon).

Installation Highlights!

1. Have 16"-on-center studs in the wall.

2. Cut a rectangle out of your wall.

3. Set the cabinet inside the cutout.

4. Secure the cabinet to the studs (wood or metal is fine, but we only provide hardware for wood).

Can this be mounted to the wall instead of in it?

No. This cabinet must be installed into the wall. That's how to support the unit against the force and torque of opening and using the swivel ironing board!

Check out our Iron 'n Fold Cabinet for an option that you attach to the wall (it sits on the floor).

Height adjust even after installation.

Board opens 10" above the bottom of the cabinet, so adjust your cabinet cutout to fit the height you want!

Note: If Cutout = 25" off the floor, then board will be approx. 36-38" high.

Then, once it's installed, the board can be lifted 2" higher thanks to the innovated inside height adjust! Just grab the board on either side near the back and lift it along the glides.

Right and left-handed comfort.

The Stow Away ironing board rotates 90 degrees to the right and to the left. Tighten or loosen how easily it swivels by adjusting the nut on the underside of the board.

Note: Needs 60" of horizontal wall space for full range of motion.

Cut a hole into the wall.

Cut a hole in the wall--between 16"-on-center studs--that is that is 46.25" tall x 14.25".

Choose the height of the cutout based on where you want the board to open. Board opens 10" above the bottom of the cabinet, or about 9" above the bottom of the cutout.

Set cabinet into cutout.

Before putting the cabinet in, pre drill the holes on the frame where the door will install.

Then, carefully lift cabinet into cutout, setting the cabinet into the bottom first, then pushing the cabinet flush into the hole.

Secure cabinet to framing studs.

Secure the cabinet to the frame studs. Screw right under the shelves.

Hardware for wood studs is included. For metal studs, please visit your local hardware store for the right screws!

Install the door!

Attach hinges to the door. Lift and align the door with the holes you drilled into the cabinet frame. (Best with 2 people!) Screw the hinges to the cabinet to attach the door.

Answer:	The premium hot iron storage area provides a shelf that is 7 1/2″ wide, 12 1/2″ high, and 4 3/8″ deep. Because of the narrow tip of the ironing board that rests near the top of the cabinet, there is a 2″ wide space on the right side of the shelf that allows for a wider iron. This maximizes the space needed for your iron and creates an overall depth of 5 5/8″ on the right side of the shelf (the rest of the shelf is concealed by the ironing board). Irons that are widest at the sole plate can utilize this space well. Irons that are narrower towards the back generally fit well in the storage area. Question:	I have a 17 x 57 inch rectangular ironing board. Should I order the 20" x 60" or would the 19" x 55" work? How much extra fabric is there for sides
Answer:	My ironing board is approx. 53.5" x 14" and I ordered the 20 x 60 and it fits great. Not a lot of extra fabric on the sides--maybe a couple inches on each side. I'd go with the 20 x 60, given the dimensions of your ironing board. Hope this helps.
Question:	I have an in-wall 42 x 11 5/8 ironing board, which size works the best? Do you think 41 x 12 would fit my board
Answer:	We offer a 12" by 42" inch cover that would be the best fit for your size Ironing Board. The main thing to keep in mind is that in-wall ironing boards tend to either mount from underneath the ironing board to the wall or some may have a rod that goes through the sides of the ironing board attaching it to the wall. Our covers will fit the in-wall covers which are attached from underneath only. Question:	How do you close the ironing board
Answer:	There is a metal pin on the outside of the curved hinge, right up next to the ironing board. It might have a rubber ball thing on it. Remove the ball if it's on, and squeeze the pin up towards the ironing board and it should fold up. Keep the ball - it keeps the board from folding up accidentally. The directions say to store the ironing board point down once you have folded it.
Question:	Has anyone bought the size d 53x18? how much of the width is 18". looks a lot like it is smaller on most of the board
Answer:	This board is not like the "standard" size ironing board...it is MUCH better, and worth every penny! I used to buy cheap boards, $15 here, $25 there, and over the years, I'd say that I spent at least $300+ on ironing boards (crazy person I am). Anyway, this $80 board is sturdy, doesn't move on my carpet, is large enough to iron large shirts, dresses, pants, you name it!!! Because of THIS ironing board, I am now ironing double the amount I did before, because it just makes life SO much easier and quicker. When you have the right tools, everything is easier. Answer:	This one is right hinged
Question:	Does unfinished exterior mean no door
Answer:	No. If you look at the FAQ's on the Iron-a-Way web site you'll find that all the cabinets come unfinished on the exterior. All the door options are unfinished as well. The No Door option means that it will come without a door. We ordered one without a door and had a custom door made to match our cabinets.
Question:	What are the dimensions of the whole unit

Answer:	I don’t think so. Our contractor installed it inside new cabinets in laundry room that’s why we didn’t need a door. It’s possible a hinge was in the box and not used in the install.

Question:	Is this board easy to fold up and store on back of a closet door
Answer:	This board is easy to fold but it is heavier than an average board. I don’t hang mine on a door. I lean it against a wall. I’m 4’11”. So a door is out of the question. I love my board and it is the second one I have bought. I am an embroidery author and work with very expensive fabrics and laces and the quality of my ironing board and pressing tools matters to me.
