I did inspect it when it came in and found it to be quite sturdy metal with wire mesh under the pad. The pad seems to have a bit of cushion to it. This is not a premium ironing pad but I specifically ordered this one because, after much research, this ironing board received the most positive reviews. The legs fold inward to make it flat. Although this board might not see to much action, I thought it was the best of the collapsible option offered and I am very pleased with my purchase. |

Also, I found when I used the board, the iron rest made it so long, it just too up too much space (my house is pretty small). Love the board, but glad the iron rest came off. |

Steel mesh top is 36" long and 13" wide; a full 30% larger than standard countertop boards to accommodate larger garments.
How to Clean Ironing Board Covers
Use a damp soft cotton cloth to wipe down the cover and allow it to air dry. Do not machine wash or put in cover in the dryer.

| Answer: | The cover has nothing to do with where you place your iron. Irons are usually placed in a cradle that is part of the ironing board or your iron may be made to sit the iron on its end when not being used. Would not recommend placing the iron face flat on cover when not being used. |
