Question:	Why does this reset everyday at 4pm
Answer:	I have 4 of these clocks and none of them reset at 4 pm. However, they do check for clean signals at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 am. On the hour, the second hands stop at 12 and the minute and hour hands continue to move. If a clean signal is received, at 3 minutes after the hour, the clock resets. If not, it checks again at 4, 5, 6, and 7 minutes after the hour. If a usable signal has not been received by this time, the computer resets the clock at 8 minutes after the hour to the last known time. So the clocks make as many as 25 attempts during the night to reset to the correct time.
Question:	Does this use batteries or plug into the wall
Answer:	This clock is wonderful and uses batteries. It will set itself when the time changes twice a year.
Question:	Will the clock still work if it doesn’t face Fort Collins
Answer:	The answer to your question is not really quite that simple. The clock requires a radio signal from Fort Collins, CO. that needs to be of sufficient strength to be able to receive the data that it needs to keep it's time spot on accurate. A factor in the signal strength is distance from the radio transmitter. So if the clock is located closer to Fort Collins it's less likely that it will need to be oriented quite the same as if the clock were located in lets say Maine, Porto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska etc. Signal strength also depends on what the building is constructed of, how many windows are in the vicinity of the clock, and weather and atmospheric conditions between you and the transmitter. I am outside of Philadelphia, clock is pointed westerly, window opening in the area is South and I find the clock is amazingly accurate. There can be a bit of a delay at daylight savings time change but it's usually environmental issues which have caused the clock change to take a couple days. This can be compensated for by taking the clock outside at night and pointing the face towards Fort Collins and it really doesn't take along time to find the signal and reset the clock. I find that this clock is usually within a second or two of my cell phone that my research shows is usually accurate to within 15 seconds or so. My most accurate clock is my car because it gets it's time from the GPS satellites and depending on how many satellites I'm receiving can set my clock to a .96 second error. So checking this clock against that clock I find it is usually very close. This is truly an amazingly accurate time piece and one of my most trusted devices. I'm just amazed that something this accurate can be acquired for such a low price.

Answer:	This clock does have the "Radio Controlled" written at the bottom of the face. There can be occasional cosmetic changes to new batches the manufacturer receives from their supplier, but the clock mechanism and/or movement remains the same. Answer:	I noticed some reviews from about six years old saying that it's quiet and all the recent ones say otherwise. Mine is 11 years old and is one of several of this brand that I have owned. I can hear the ticking just fine from across the room, and the sound made at 15 second intervals (0,15,30,45 seconds) is more pronounced.
Question:	Will this clock work correctly if hung on a north facing wall
Answer:	You have to remember that it depends on where you are located from the NIST transmitter located in Boulder Co. Most Americans are east of Boulder hence the recommendation to mount it on a west facing wall close to the outside. If you are south of Boulder than a north wall would be best. The farther away from Boulder the weaker the signal. I'm all the way on the east coast and can receive the signal well enough to maintain synchronization with the atomic clock. The only cliches occur at the daylight saving time changes but that rights itself in a day or so. Mine fLa Crosse lasted thirteen years and I'm about to order this one as a replacement. Well worth the investment!
Question:	Please advise what type of wood and finish
Answer:	Not sure of the type os wood but it is finished very nicely. Stained to a beautiful finish. The schedule for daylight savings time is wrong and impossible to get tech support from the company. I recommend you take a pass on this clock. Answer:	If you go to their website, they have instructions for different roblems with their products. If you don't find an answer to your question there, you can also speak live to someone at lacrosse. I'm not familiar with this problem with this clock, but when I had problems resetting after a battery change with their weather station, this was my experience.

Answer:	You can eliminate most of the sound by carefully opening the clock and snipping the second hand with a nail clipper. I did this when my old La Crosse clock was failing because, inexplicably, the second hand was scraping against the face and one of the other hands. It got really quiet after that. The only noise left is the occasional reset that sweeps the minute and hour arms when the time needs to be corrected (it's very rare).

Answer:	Yes. This clock is made to work atomically only for the 4 time zones in the US: Pacific, Mountain, Central and Eastern. Outside of these time zones, the quartz capability operates, while the atomic capability is inoperable.

Answer:	I have never noticed any noise out of the clocks. I have 10 or more at my work. Some are in offices and no one ever mentioned noise from them. I have a kuckoo clock at home, so I must admit clock noise is not an issue for me.

Answer:	Mine varies, sometimes silent and sometimes ticks rather loudly, easily audible from across the room if nothing else is making noise. However it's a fairly low-pitch airy tick sound that I don't find annoying at all. I probably wouldn't want it in a bedroom or a study room though.
Question:	We have tried 3 times with new batteries and the clock will work for 5 hours and then stop
Answer:	I found that over the first year, it could not handle the daylight saving/standard time switch at all. After the first year, it has generally not kept accurate time at all -- started off by being an hour off, but now just random amounts of time off: anywhere form 5 minutes off to 50 minutes off the time. I've pitched mine into the trash and will look for another brand.I believe that almost all the analog clocks sold on Amazon have the same mechanism made in China (the brand like "Lacrosse" or others is just the maker of the external stuff). Generally, they stop working after a year or two. Read all the reviews. I've given up trying to buy a wall clock on Amazon and will get one at a store where returns are easy if there is a problem.

Answer:	On Amazon.
Question:	Outside temperature doesn’t display
Answer:	It doesn’t display outside temperature as indicates in its specification. There are other models with outside temp sensor but not this model.

Answer:	The time numbers are 2.625" high by 1.25" wide.
Question:	Do these clocks come from the factory in sealed boxes? I ordered 2, both defective, which came in unsealed, untaped boxes
Answer:	Mine arrived in a factory sealed box. It took it well over a week, maybe two, before it synched with radio signal. After waiting at least 24 hours for it to set itself by radio, I set it manually. It is working perfectly now.

Atomic clock is an extremely Accurate Timepiece. Most atomic clocks in North America use WWVB's transmissions to set the correct time automatically. They can receive the time signal transmitted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).The NIST broadcasts the time signal (WWVB,60KHz) continuously from Fort Collins, Colorado. It is expected that the signal can reach a distance of over 2,000 miles from the transmitter.This signal can be received anywhere in the continental USA and Canada .

Answer:	So long as it is not exposed to rain. Direct sunlight could affect any electronics. And you would have the 'outdoor ' sensor which you could use indoors if you wanted to. Depending upon your climate extremes of heat or cold eventually affect all electronics. Should work with those caveats.

Answer:	This unit has big bold text and numbers, it does not light up at night. very legible in daytime.
Question:	does it make noise for each second as one person commented? maybe that is what the beep on/off setting is for
Answer:	Mine doesn't but I'm almost positive I saw the option to have the beep on or off. After all, there's an alarm built in so I would think as long as they have a beep alarm, might as well make it an option for seconds as well.
