User questions & answers
Question: | Can I store the smaller, 1lb propane tanks on my terrace porch, possibly in a box, overall? in cold winters and hot summers |
Answer: | For maximum safety, my recommendation is to store propane containers in a weather protected location, such as garage or shed with some natural ventilation. Propane is a highly flammable liquified petroleum gas that vaporizes and expands many-fold very quickly if released to atmospheric pressure, and will form a highly explosive mixture if released in a confined space without outside ventilation. If then ignited by a small spark such as a light switch, the resulting explosion may be catastrophic. There are on-line photos of boats that have exploded from propane leaks in the confined space of a boat cabin with catastrophic results including death of occupants. The cabin top and sides have literally been blown to pieces in such cases. New, sealed bottles of 1 lb size are reasonably safe, but once opened or partly used it is best to store away from occupied spaces. Although the probability is low, the consequences of failure are unacceptable. 20 lb propane containers should never be stored indoors. Play it extra safe and store propane bottles in a garage or outdoor shed. BJG (PE, ichemical engineer, inactive, retired) |
Question: | can i hook a large propane tank to his |
Answer: | Yes, any size propane tank can be a source for it when plumbed correctly. The simplest way to go is using the F273704 hose directly off most tanks. That hose needs nothing else and goes direct from the tank to the heater. This model heater only accepts high pressure gas thru the "disposable tank" connection, so other hoses with that connection can be used as well as the "filter" F273699. The "filter" is to take out oils coming from most rubbers in hoses where the high pressure "squeezes" the oil out, but the 704 hose is made "oil-free" to avoid that issue. FYI I tried running this off a regulated low pressure source, but with it on "high" the glow was like "low" setting normally (showing a lack of gas coming thru). So if you have a low pressure source, the "Big Buddy" models have a connection point for such thru a quick disconnect using hoses like F271802 or F271803, but not this model (this one needs high pressure gas to get enough thru it's disposable tank port). |
Question: | How long with the heater run on low with a propane small cannister |
Answer: | Best guess is 4-5 hours on low. I sat in a hunting blind for 2.5 hours and the 1lb propane canister was about half empty. |
Question: | Does anyone know or understand how is it this type of propane heater can be used indoors without causing carbon dioxide poisoning |
Answer: | As soon as the weather gets cold, I put my Big Buddy Heater on a stand & use a Mr. Heater 12' hose with regulator running to a 20lb. tank in living room. I use the hose with the low pressure regulator on it & hook it up to the quick connect fitting. I have 2 20lb tanks in mint condition, and rotate them as needed. This will be my 7th winter using it. Old windows & doors let air in and I have a carbon monoxide alarm near by. Also use a leak detector to check all connections after hooking up a full tank. If it's really cold, I'll start it on high for a short time, then run it on medium & it keeps living & dining room warm. Cuts my oil bill down greatly. |

The Dr. Infrared Heater's Advanced Dual Heating System, combining PTC and Quartz Infrared Element, keeps you warm this winter while saving on heating bills. Equipped with a Dual Heating System and High Velocity Low Noise blower, the Dr. Infrared Heater increases the heat distribution and the result is heating your room to a comfortable temperature, fast. The Dr. Infrared Heater is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) USA and Canada, ensuring the highest safety standard. The Dr. Infrared Heater is perfectly safe around children and pets and only gets warm to the touch. It does not have exposed heating elements that can cause a fire. The Dr. Infrared Heater comes with Energy saving Auto Mode, high and low setting when the mode is set to Auto, the unit will cycle on and off and switch between high or low setting to maintain the desired temperature setting. All Dr. Infrared heaters are engineered and designed in the USA. How is Dr. Heater Different from Other Heaters? Dr. Heater uses infrared heating, which heats objects in the room, instantly making you feel comfortably warm. By heating only the objects in the space--not the air--Dr. Heater provides maximum warmth and energy efficiency. With its state-of-the-art technology that helps the room retain air moisture, Dr. Heater do not dry out your skin like those convection heaters that blast out hot air, stripping the room of moisture. And the best part? It will save you money. Use Dr. Heater instead of your regular heating system, and you could save up to 50% on your next electricity bill. Plus, with its tip-over protection and auto shut-off overheat protection, you can sleep soundly knowing you have got a heater that is superior in safety. Tests Show Dr. Heater heats Faster and Better than Competing Heaters. In a side-by-side test comparison in airtight chambers with the same starting temperature, Dr. Heater heated the same amount of space much faster than a competing heater that has a price tag more than double that of Dr. Heater. Dr. Heater Delivers 60% more heat than other 1500-watt heaters. No magic trick--we just understand heat transfer better. Just because two heaters have the same wattage does not mean they transfer the same amount of heat. Wattage indicates the amount of electricity needed to power the heater--not the amount of heat it can deliver. Heater is the first to feature a dual heating system for maximum heat transfer rate. It combines the energy efficiency of infrared heat with the comfort of convection heat to heat your room fast and comfortably--without hot spots and cold spots. Dr. Heater uses a state-of-the-art 7-inch blower that generates higher pressure and moves larger air volume at a lower speed, without any of the noise of those other heaters on the market. Dr. Infrared Heater has three power Settings: Auto, Low 1000W and High 1500W. The auto energy saving mode allows you to set your desired temperature from 50-86F. It smartly selects between the two settings depending on your room temperature. The thermostat regulates the heater and causes it to cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature. You can also manually set the heater to run on High or Low all the time or with a timer. The heater has to be turned on first in order to use the remote. This a safety provision mandated by the Underwriters Laboratory. So, in order to use the remote, the first step for the user is to press the POWER button on the heater itself. This turns the heater on STANDBY. Then, pressing the POWER button on the remote will turn the heater on. The heater can't be turned on if the unit is not on STANDBY.

SAVE BIG ON YOUR HEATING BILLS
Dr. Infrared Heater works in a similar way as sunlight, by warming objects rather than air. The infrared heat feels natural and is energy efficient using 100 percent of the heat produced, which creates almost no loss in heat transfer at a low cost.
Easy to Maintain
Our heater is made to last you though many winters, therefore it comes equipped with a removable filter that is easy to clean and replace, allowing for a fresh start every time it’s needed.
More Heat then other 1,500-watt heater
Wattage indicates the amount of electricity needed to power the heater--not the amount of heat it can deliver.Dr.Infrared Heater’s advanced heating system enables greater heat production without using any more power with a high-efficiency blower that delivers an average of 250°F at 3.5m/s to your room versus competing heaters that can do only 155°F at 2.2m/s.

User questions & answers
Question: | It warns against using in elevations higher than 4,500 FT. Have you had success at |
Answer: | Yes, there have been units with success over 4,500 ft, what this means is we aren't able to guarantee successful operation of these heaters are higher than 4,500 ft. |
Question: | How many hours or days will it run with a 20# bottle |
Answer: | I recently insulated a 14’ x 20‘ workshop attachment on my garage. I got this heater and before I bought a big tank I tried it on a 10 pound tank from my grill. It was set on number one setting the temperature outside was in the 30s and I got 64 hours out of it holding just over 60°. So I figure a 20 pound bottle should last me little over five days. So I’m going to get a 30 pound bottle that way I only have to refill about once a week. Warmer weather less often, I hope this helps. |
Question: | It dont tell the dimensions? Is it 20" wide |
Answer: | The dimensions for the heater are 23 3/4" W x 11 1/4" D x 27" H. |
Question: | Can u use propane tank from a grill and how long would it last |
Answer: | Quick math says about 17 hrs on full tank. This heater has a high and low output, controlled by the thermostat, not the user. One gallon propane would last approx 4 hours. A full 20 lb tank holds about 4.5 gallons. |
Question: | how long does it last on a small propane tank |
Answer: | The 1# tank will ice up and slowly turn off the heater on anything but the lowest setting. That lasts about 2 hours. A little buddy heater with 4K/9K Btu works best with the 1# cylinders. I have the hose hookup for a 20# tank and it's nice to have the option of using either size. You have to light this one with a lighter which is just another thing to forget to pack. |
Question: | Just tried to make coffee on it and the grill started to collapse is there a sturdier grill for it |
Answer: | As far as I know... No. A simular thing happened to me. I reattached the grill using good old fashioned wire hanger twisted. This was only a temporary fix. |
Question: | Did anyone get the "foot" for the 1 lb. bottles and is it a worthwhile add-on |
Answer: | Not sure what you're referring to. The one lb. bottle hangs suspended when connected. I wouldn't recommend getting this model. Get the model MH12C if you can. The regulator broke after a couple months and I couldn't return it. Instead I bought the regulator that was for the MH12C and adapted it to fit the MH15C. Since then it's been working great for a year. I also recommend purchasing the hose adapter so you can run off a 20 lb. bottle. It'll last a lot longer |
Question: | how long does a 1lb bottle last compared to a 20lb bottle |
Answer: | A one pound bottle on medium setting will last about 1-1/2 hour so figure at least 25 hrs for a 20 pounder. |

Blue Flame Vent Free Heaters
Our Vent Free heaters need no external power, great for power outages and applications with no electricity. They can be mounted to the wall with the supplied bracket or on the floor with the supplied feet.
Most common uses are rooms that don’t warm well so you can adjust the temperature level in them without having to affect the rest of the home.
There are two types of vent free heaters, blue flame (or convection heat) and infrared (or radiant heat). The difference in these types of heat are how the warm.
The Blue Flame heater warms the air. It doesn’t radiate the heat like an infrared unit. It can be put in a narrow area because the heat rises and warms the area from the ceiling down. Blue Flame warms the air, infrared warms objects, which heat the air.
Note: Units cannot be converted from Propane to Natural Gas and vice versa. They are not designed to be a primary source of heat, as they are designed to work with a furnace.

User questions & answers
Question: | Prod descrip states this model has a built in silent electric ignition, but one of the cust comments indicates it's a standard piezo. Which is it |
Answer: | This unit has a push button ignition. Clicks and lights. Globaltowne is an Authorized Mr. Heater distributor. |
Question: | When using this heater with a 20 lb tank, do i need a regulator on that tank and hose |
Answer: | No, using a hose like the F273704 will go to the "disposable tank" port and that expects high pressure gas (just as from the small tanks). The "Big Buddy" models have a Quick Disconnect port that takes in low pressure gas (and needs a regulator like the F281703 hose assembly), but not this or the Buddy MH9B models. I even tried running regulated gas into the Buddy heater, but it would stay like on "low" even though I put it on "high" showing not enough gas flow. So anything with a "disposable tank" connection expects high pressure gas (no regulators). |
Question: | When I put the heater setting on low, it sputters and makes a lot of noise, is this normal, but works fine on high. Thanks |
Answer: | Mine does the same. However, I found if I just adjust the temp selector just a little above low, slightly increasing the flow of gas but nothing like the high setting, the noise goes away. I literally shot a 6 point buck at 30 yards with the heater running like that this year. |
Question: | which hoses can you use to connect 20 lb. tank |
Answer: | The F273704 can be used alone. Many other hoses from mr heater (like F273701, F273702, F273703) and others can work that go to the "disposable tank" connection, but you'll need to add the "filter" with those others (item F273699). The reason for the filter is to catch oils that get "squeezed" out of most rubbers in hoses where the oils mess up the heater, but the 704 hose is made "oil-free" to not need it. Those are the choices for this model. |
Question: | Can the 2 heating heads be rotated and if so, independently of each other |
Answer: | They can be rotated independently |
Question: | do you need electric to ignite |
Answer: | You do need thumbs, but no electricity. |
Question: | The burners light but switch off after i release the safety shut off valve plunger, no matter how long i keep it pushed in. it should stay lit |
Answer: | Not sure if you have your problem fixed yet. But I had the same problem awhile back. I pushed the sensor probe closer to the heat element. I was too far away to stay heated and keep the unit on. |
Question: | How long does a normal supermarket propane tank last with this unit |
Answer: | That depends first I have no idea what a "Supermarket propane Tank" is, if it is a standard 20lb propane tank which you see on every gas grill and on this illustration then I can answer that question. 1 gallon of propane weighs 4.2 pounds, a 20 pound tank weighs 17 lbs empty and 37 lbs with 20 lbs of propane in it, a "full" 20 lb cylinder should have 4.7 gallons or propane in it.Now we have to discuss this model of Mr. heater which has two burners, you can run it on one or both and you can set it for low medium or high which is many differentt total burn times, I will assume either one or both with no mixture of settings.Single burner approx. operating hr.: 52/Low 37/Med 30/HighBTU output: 8,000 12,000 14,000Double burner approx. operating hr.: 25/Low 18/Med 15/HighBTU output: 16,000 24,000 28,000 |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long will 20lb propaine last on lowest setting in insulated room |
Answer: | Say a 10' x 10' room; about 12 to 16 hours. You MUST have some fresh air coming into the room or the O2 depletion will shut the heater off. Propane need air to burn just like most flames. |
Question: | Is this safe in a 300 square foot cabin as the sole source of heat |
Answer: | This is very large for a room of that size. I would recommend the 20,000 BTU model. That is ASIN B01DPZ5B3. These are designed as supplemental heat but it could be used for your application. |
Question: | Does this product have built in regulator |
Answer: | You must use an external regulator. You need some other hardware if you are going to use it on the floor. Here is what you need: ASIN:B0002YPAFY Rectorseal 23631 1/4 Pint Brush Top T Plus 2 Pipe Thread Sealant, ASIN:B0058DIGPU Anvil 8700137808, Steel Pipe Fitting, Nipple, 3/8" NPT Male x 4" Length, Black Finish, ASIN:B005R21QLS Mr. Heater 12-Feet Hose/Regulator Assembly, P.O.L. and Hand Wheel x 3/8-Inch Female Pipe Thread. If your heater did not include an elbow, get a 3/8" ASIN:B005C2U67I Anvil Malleable Iron Pipe Fitting, Class 150, 90 Degree Street Elbow, NPT Male x NPT Female, Black Finish. Put sealant on the outside threads only. Screw the elbow into the heater so that the opening faces the front of the heater. Screw the nipple into the elbow. Attach the feet that came with the heater. Screw the hose onto the nipple. Attach the other end of the hose to your propane tank. Check all connections with soapy water before lighting. |
Question: | Will this burn in high elevation |
Answer: | Yes as long as there is enough oxygen. Oxygen above 12000 feet altitude becomes thin and supports combustion less efficiently. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this one have a thermostat n blower |
Answer: | Yes a blower and a thermostat. |
Question: | I would like to use this at a cabin that is at 10,750 feet above sea level. Most appliances have to be ported differently. Will it work |
Answer: | Yes but the mfg discusses elevation in the paperwork that comes with unit. I would call them |
Question: | The specs do not list a blower. blower is mentioned is in the q&a section only. does it really have a blower? if so, why isn't it in the specs |
Answer: | Thank you for your inquiry. A passive non forced air blower is available with all our vent free heaters 20K or larger. It is a purchase ad on. |
Question: | How long is the blower power cord |
Answer: | About 5 feet |
Question: | Where do i buy natural gas for it |
Answer: | You tap into an existing gas line |
Question: | sq ft insulated garage (including garage door). Would this take care of warming up the garage |
Answer: | I believe that it would. I have it in a 200 sq ft room with 13 ft ceilings, the house is 118 yrs old w/no insulation and it works very well. I do have the bigger size in another room.It has 3 burners instead of 2 and you can turn on 1,2 or all 3. It heats 2 rooms I have. |
Question: | Is it possible to use with a thermostat rather than the low and high settings |
Answer: | The heater is not designed to be used with an external thermostat. |
Question: | How are the fumes vented ? I don't understand how you can burn something and not have to worry about carbon monoxide |
Answer: | The fumes are not vented. Natural gas is mostly H₂, gasoline is about 50% carbon, coal is all carbon. So being mostly H₂, the combustion products are mostly H₂O with a little CO₂, not unlike what we breath out. Coal and gasoline will asphyxiate you fairly quickly because of the high carbon content, which must be vented outside. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use gas station diesel with this heater |
Answer: | You are able to use diesel #2 with this unit. |
Question: | Can this heater be used indoors without venting when using diesel? I have seen mixed reviews on the odor when using diesel but more opinions are nice |
Answer: | I use one indoors in a 1900 ft2 shop. Mostly I use diesel fuel but ignition with straight diesel is problematic with this and most multi fuel units. Diesel actually burns hotter and cleaner (less smell) than kerosine. I mix about 3 gallons of diesel with 2 gallons of kerosine. It a hotter cleaner burn that costs a lot less than straight kerosine. |
Question: | Does this use a wick like smaller kerosene heaters do |
Answer: | No, totally different burner type. It uses a powered pump/burner assembly and blows heat out one end, brings in burner air from the other end. Called a "salamander" heater in the construction trades. Also is MUCH noisier than a wick type heater! |
Question: | How long does a fill tank last |
Answer: | About 6 hours. Takes a tank and a third to run a 9 hour day. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this item safe for indoor use? Is there a manufacturer's description you can send me |
Answer: | hi this is the new 23mm from viltrox. and i think the autofocus on this new firmware is more realiable |
Question: | I'm seeing some comments about a 5 lb tank. Will this work with that and are the connection sizes the same |
Answer: | You would need a Fujimount XF to Sony mount adapter. Otherwise no. It's a Fuji X mount lens. I would suggest a Sony or their third party mount lenses |
Question: | Does the regulator come with a pol fitting for the tank or the plastic acme nut? manual pic shows pol, but video shows acme nut |
Answer: | I felt the same way when I got mine. It definitely has more resistance than the 18-55, but I think it's by design. With a more shallow depth of field at f1.2 you want a tighter focus ring for better control. Whether yours is abnormally resistant I don't know. |
Question: | Can this unit be used above |
Answer: | 62mm - Get a quality filter as it will degrade the image quality if you don't |

User questions & answers
Question: | I ordered one of these but can't seem to find info on how it actually hooks up to the propane tank. Also, does it come with a tank |
Answer: | It does not include a tank. You can get a Mr Heater hose that is 3/8 npt on one end and a tank fitting on the other end. The inlet on the heater is 3/8 npt. |
Question: | Can this heater run with only the pilot flame on |
Answer: | It is self-contained and automatic. The pilot setting will keep only the pilot burning. In heating mode it will automatically turn on and off at the desired temperature. The optional fan is not required but does not need to be plugged in if installed. |
Question: | Does this have plate for built in fan |
Answer: | Yes. Also wired for the fan so it is thermostatically controlled. Fan sold seperately. |
Question: | How low can the thermostat be set? Can it keep a room just above freezing |
Answer: | I use it to supplement my forced air heat. I would imagine in a room that is prone to freezing with the unit on it's lowest setting it would cycle quite a bit. It definitely kicks out a lot of heat. |

Question: | How well does the thermostat work? Would like to leave this unit on in the garage and maintain a set temperature |

Question: | What are the pros and cons of infrared verses convection nat. gas heaters |
Answer: | Infrared is much warmer to me. We ordered 3 heaters before we found this one. It is the BEST and worth every penny that we paid for it. It heats quickly and evenly. I will never own another brand of heater. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will heater work on a 5 gallon propane tank |
Answer: | No. Both cameras are ACSP which is cropped regardless of lens. 35mm APSC is equivalent to 55mm Full-Frame, and 22mm APSC is equivalent to 35mm Full-Frame. You can get the same FOV up to a point with wide lenses. |
Question: | Does it require power |
Answer: | The 35mm f2 is a fantastic lens. It's sharp, weather resistant, and fast. It's turning out to be a bit of a stunner from Fuji. The 16-50mm is a good lens but cheaply made. The XC is the budget range of Fuji, though to be fair Fuji just don't make bad lens. I'd buy the 35mm and when the budget allows maybe buy the Xf 18-55 which is a better made all round lens for a zoom. |
Question: | Does this model have a thermostat? The other 10,000 btu unit shows it has variable output and the 30,000 btu has a thermostat but this one doesn’t say |
Answer: | The 35mm f/2 is like a 50mm film lens in field of view and like a 35mm film lens in depth of field. If you like shooting portraits with a 50mm film lens then just open this lens up one stop in comparison to get a similar depth of field. The sharpness, color rendition, and bokeh are excellent. The gentle gradation from in-focus to out-of-focus areas is very pleasing for portraits. The 35mm also focuses very quickly and quietly for moving subjects. With that said, if you typically prefer 85-100mm on a film camera for portraits then you should look at the Fujinon 56mm f/1.2. |
Question: | Does this product #F299813 include the 10' hose and regulator |
Answer: | I own both (and the X-T10), and I originally purchased the 27mm pancake for street photography on a trip to Chile. I later bought the 35mm f2 after it was released. You can't go wrong, as they are both great lenses, but they are definitely different. Optically, I have to give the edge to the 35mm f2, especially if you are a fan of the 50mm focal length (which is a normal focal length). It is super sharp, and is more versatile than the 27mm. It is f2 vs f2.8 as well. It'll handle street photography to some portraits, and if you want just one prime this is a good option. I like the aperture ring as well. If you want to adjust that on the 27, you have to do it with the camera body. The 35 is also fairly small, so while it'll stick out more in a pocket, quickly stashing it isn't out of the question. The 27mm is great for a pancake. Sharp, pretty fast, fun, and you can forget about it and use your camera like a X100T. Perfect for inconspicuous photography and you can easily throw your camera is a jacket pocket after. Both are solid but if I were to personally get just one, I would go with the 35mm. |
