Answer:	We purchased 1 fan in 2017 and loved it so much that we purchased another in 2018. The light on the first one stayed on but wasn't distracting. The 2018 model of the same fan was slightly updated and the light does shut off after a short time. We love both fans since they both work incredibly cooling whole rooms instead of just one area.

Answer:	Okay, if 52dB is comparable to a hairdryer, it's MUCH quieter. On the max setting still more quite than my nearly-silent Bosch dishwasher.Side note... I've had it running non-stop (other than for semi-annual cleaning) for over 2 years with no problems.
