Answer:	I (carelessly) bought the VU551 in July 2018; it does not have a timer. There is a newer model -- same price -- and it does appear to have a timer.
Question:	Can you remove the front grid easily to clean the blades
Answer:	I say NO, and that is why I am even looking at this page. I bought mine in Aug, 2016. It does have the screw at the bottom, which allows you to slide down a clip. The problem lies in the plastic trim ring that goes around the whole edge of grille. It essentially locks in and seals the front and back grilles together. It does not give much leeway. I just spent 20 minutes trying to separate it- pop one grille out or just slide the trim ring off to either side. I tried it with two screwdrivers. Didn't work and I was afraid of busting the rim. Perhaps some of these other people who had it "easy" had a slightly different model/year. If you put this fan in any room with any humidity (maybe that's WHY you bought it in the first place??) then you ARE gonna have a rusted grille. Have fun getting metal dust in the air when you take that brush to clean the grille.

Answer:	The 723DC Circulator puts a more focused flow of air out the front than does a tower fan. The air comes out in a twisting column that, when it hits a wall or ceiling, splits in all directions and starts all the air in the room moving. It can be a little too intense in medium to high speeds.
Question:	I want a very quiet fan to point directly at myself. This fan (the 723dc) and the 783dc fit the bill. Which is better for this purpose
Answer:	Howdy, Phil --- I bought the 723dc to replace another Vornado no longer in production. That older model was about as close to quiet as possible, in my estimation. I had hoped the 723dc would compare favorably, but alas, there is a noticeable (albeit slight) noise even at the absolute lowest setting. It is more like a "white noise" hum than the older unit ever produced. Still, the noise level is much less than any other fan available in my estimation -- even those "blade less" designs. As for either the floor model or the stand? Well, that is more a personal consideration, I think. The stand version was not available at the time of my purchase, but I was desperate for airflow during the time (summer months), so I went with the floor model since the NOISE factor was mainly my concern. In hindsight, I should have waited for the inventory replenishment for the stand version as placing the floor unit up higher to reach above the bed is always a factor now and takes up valuable dresser top space. If you are wanting it for more floor-level airflow (say, chair height), then either model would work fine.

Question:	To what angle can the fan angle be tilted up towards the ceiling? (eg, 90 degrees is straight up
Answer:	yea, it can in fact be pointed straight up 90 degrees. By that logic, it's full rotation would be from -20 degrees (where 0 is pointing straight ahead) to 20 degrees past 90 (70 degrees on the other side of 90). So to be super clear, it can be pointed slightly down toward the ground and then rotated a full 180 degrees upwards, which puts it a little past 90. Hopefully that makes sense.
Question:	I bought this fan because one reviewer said it had no power brick, and in the question section, it said no brick. Mine came with a brick. What gives
Answer:	The pedestal models (such as this one) have a power brick. The smaller tabletop models such as the 533DC do not have a power brick.
Question:	How many watts
Answer:	At full chooch 40 watts, on lowest setting 1 watt. This is measured with a Killawatt meter. However, the lowest setting is almost pointless, it's more like a "look how slow we can go with PWM!" setting. Set to the lowest usable setting it pulled 4 watts from the wall. For comparison my old Model 180 Compact is also a 7" fan and pulls 87 watts on high and 27 on low, although low on the Model 180 is substantially more airflow than the 530. For my scenario where I use the fan for sleeping it would take roughly 8 years for the 530 to 'pay for itself in electricity savings' verses keeping the 180, and the 180 is a MUCH better fan.
Question:	If the power goes out will the fan come back on by itself when the power is restored? (I want to use it with a smart outlet
Answer:	I am sorry I don't know the answer. I only use the fan at night to avoid head sweats. Fortunately, there have not been any power-outs at night.
