What is different and special about Poochie Powder is that we do this by using whole food, uncooked (cooking often kills the nutrition found in raw food), nutrient dense leafy green and cruciferous veggies and wild blueberries (in a way that actually tastes and smells good to dogs). Most dogs will not eat raw brussel sprouts or parsley, collard greens, etc. yet the health benefits of these veggies are huge, but they DO eat the powder :). So rather than trying to replicate nature and add man-made synthetic "nutrition" or use ingredients that may not be biologically appropriate for dogs, your dog is getting his/her nutrition from nature, in a biologically appropriate and highly digestible way. Answer:	The two most popular ways are: 1) With kibble, sprinkle it over your dog's food and mix it in with a small amount of liquid (water, bone broth). With wet or raw food, just mix directly on. The powder will stick to the food. 2) We've had several of our website customers with feed bins state that they dump a bunch of the powder in with their dog's kibble, shake the bin up and the powder naturally bonds to and coats the kibble due to it's somewhat sticky consistency. This makes it possible for people with automatic feeders or bulk feed bins to provide their dogs with Poochie Powder daily and not have to worry about it. Answer:	The label says 0.1% iodine. That is 0.1% of whatever you give. So, for example, if you give 1/4t of the product and assume 1/4t weighs 1 gram (you can weigh it yourself and swap out 1 gram for whatever you weigh, but this will probably be close; another kelp product lists 1/4t as weighing 1 gram), multiply 1g (aka 1 gram) and multiply it by 0.1% you get 0.001 g. To get to mcg you multiply whatever grams times 1,000,000, so 1g of product has 1,000 mcg iodine (also called ug). So, if you have a large dog and give 1 tsp, you can either multiply by 4 and get 4,000 ug dose of iodine, or chunk whatever weight of product you use into the formula: g of product x 0.001 x 1,000,000= ug of iodine. The National Academy of Science/Research Council recommends 220 ug/day for a 33lb dog. The AAFCO guidelines are 250 ug-2750 ug per 1000 calories of food. If you are feeding your dog industrial food (vs homemade), you are going to want to check how much iodine your dog is already getting. Answer:	There are 30 scoops per container. According to their website, you need one scoop for up to 30lbs, 1.5 for 30-50, and 2 for 50+. I would think that a 120lb dog, or even a 90 lb dog would need more than a 51 lb dog so that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Sadly, their website doesn't explain it either. And, while it gives you instructions, it doesn't tell you if you do that morning and night or just once a day. The directions seem to indicate you do it every time you feed. If that is the case, one container would last me less than 4 days as I have 2 dogs >50 lbs (they're actually both over 80 so I don't even know if 2 scoops would be enough.) That's about 9 cans (or $600-$700/mo!) I think I'll pass!
