So I would say the average lady could wear a small. A lady with larger than an 8 might need a medium. You might also try the black version (different brand) you can buy over the counter at KMart. More cloth-like and look like a regular sock. A bit looser fit, but they compress too. Amazon is great about returns. So take your best guess and if it doesn't fit, return it (less postage).
