Answer:	I didn't notice any smell. The detergent didn't work very well in an HE machine and left the clothes smelling like wet clothes. I even used twice the amount suggested, and still the same. Not good for HE front load machines.
Question:	Instructions say to place it directly into the washer tub, not in the automatic dispenser. Why? Putting it in the tub will not work in my washer
Answer:	It will work. Just sprinkle the powder on the load before you shut the door and start the cycle. Works quite well!

Answer:	Yes, it’s safe for whites and colors. It doesn’t contain bleach. It’s concentrated so use the recommended scoop amount for each load.

Answer:	I'm sure it is. However, I buy their refill soap packaged in a brown paper sack and reuse the container (made of sturdy cardboard and a tin base).

Question:	Instructions say to first wash load of rags AND to use hard water additive which I didn't order. What happens if I wash in hard water w/o additive

Answer:	For my cloth diapers, I wash them in a load of homemade powder detergent (1 cup borax, 1 cup washing soda, 1 bar of ivory soap - powdered together in a food processor). Then, I wash them again with a scoop of charlies soap & 1/4 cup white vinegar in the liquid fabric softener area. it works great, and I've experimented with A LOT of different detergents & combinations!

Question:	Is this a two pack or just one
Answer:	Thought I was getting 2 (per the picture and price) but only one bag showed up. If I wanted 1 bag, I would have ordered a single bag for $16. The warehouse label on the protective bag this came in clearly said "2 Pack" but there was only one 2.64 lb bag of soap in it. Could have been a fulfillment issue rather than a vendor issue. YMMV. Amazon customer service was helpful in correcting this.

Answer:	It distributes evenly. I'm waiting for the seller to return my email with some questions. The temperature of my material says to set between 360-375 but at that temperature it's too hot. I had to set it at 275; it's off 100 degrees. I hope that helps. I may return this machine and try the Power Press that is rated #1.

How To Use:

Use one tablespoon of Nellie’s Laundry Soda for each regular sized load. Wash according to instructions on garments. Always test on garments that may bleed or fade.

The important thing to remember is that while the scoop size looks small, it’s strongly concentrated and powerful!

Nellie’s Laundry Soda is safe for HE and standard washing machines. If you have an HE washing machine, we recommend adding the Laundry Soda directly in the drum with your clothes. The newer machines and HE machines do not have enough water pressure to fully clean out the dispensers of Nellie’s Laundry Soda.

Why Powder?

Powder is better! Traditional liquid detergents are made up largely of water. At Nellie’s, we don’t think selling and moving water around the planet is a very good idea.

The fact is, more cleaning power can be packed into a smaller space using powder. Nellie’s is more concentrated than other detergents so only one tablespoon is needed for a regular load.
