User questions & answers

Question: Is this a temporary reliever or will this fix sinus and congestions issues? Thanks
Answer: This is temporary relief. Use 2 or 3 sprays in each nostril. Not more often than every 10 to 12 hours. Do not exceed 2 doses in 24 hours. The Vicks Team
Question: Mine 2 pack came today in sealed boxes but no plastic safety seal on caps/bottles - is this normal
Answer: I think I had the same question last year about no inner bottle plastic seal, bc I distinctly recall performing a rather dangerous ballet trying to get a shrink wrap thing off the Vicks brand, the one with the pump type sprayer (rather than the old school squeeze-to-spray). I was desperately stuffed up, late at night, so said a little prayer n used it anyway, no harmful effects. Most boxes containing personal products, state *on the box* how its packaged inside. Usually, "Carton glued shut for your protection; inner bottle shrink wrapped with [Brand Name] logo plastic. Do not use product if any protective wrap missing." I have not seen that language on this product packaging. There Oughta Be A Law! Every OTC drugstore product should describe protective packaging ON THE CARTON. Because you KNOW store clerks restocking returns are saying, "Its still good...!" And back on the shelf it goes! Really ALL drugstore returns should go back to the vendor to determine if it can be sold again.
Question: What is the difference between this and Flonase
Answer: If you try Flnase, make sure someone is there with you at the time. I've used Afrin for years (same ingredient at Sinex), and tried Flonase which works great for my grandchildren. It immediately caused my nasal passages to swell completely shut and I began having trouble breathing even through my mouth. Took me about 8 times of spraying with Afrin before it cleared up. Afrin is "addicting" in that studies show it causes a rebound effect that may make the sinus mucosa swell more. However, if you hear that it causes increase in blood pressure, studies have shown that it does not. (I don't know about Flonase for either of these possible effects, though.)
Question: Hi si this much diff than their product vicks sinex moisturizing nasal and sinus spray, ultra fine mist, 0.5 fl oz
Answer: Honestly, I've used both and prefer this one. I think it's a bit stronger. I've been suffering with sinus congestion for 20 years, this is the only nasal spray that gives relief when I'm really congested. I had sinus surgery a couple of years ago and I truly thought it would fix it, it worked for a year or so, but it didn't last beyond that, so it's time to buy stock in Sinex.

User questions & answers

Question: What's the expiration date
Answer: I ordered mine in December 2018, expiration date on mine is January 2020.
Question: Are these meant to be used again and again, or is there a shelf life or a maximum number of times you should use
Answer: I have been using a saline spray like this for many years. Durning the late fall and winter months my nose gets very dry and congested. A spray like this helps a lot. They have an expiration date of about two years. I have continued to use for longer than that with no issues. As long as there is only one user I don't see a problem of using until the product is used up. If you have had a very serious infection, you might want to replace sooner or if it is contaminated is some way.
Question: Where is this product made
Answer: We received the following information in an email from Perrigo, the manufacturer and distributor of "Basic Care Saline Nasal Spray": "The Nasal spray is made in the United States by our company. Because of the way it works, it may take several days for Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray to reach maximum effect. That’s why it’s best to use it regularly, once a day. It relieves sneezing, itchy nose, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes, and also nasal congestion.

Can I use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray for asthma?

No, Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray is not a treatment for asthma. Ask your doctor what medicine to take for your asthma.

Can I use Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray for colds?

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone used this for nasal congestion due to a cold
Answer: Since this product is used to treat nasal congestion, sneezing & runny nose, regardless of why you have them, such as a cold, it will remedy them. Thank you for asking. Enjoy your weekend. Gregory
Question: is this the nasal spray that smells like orange blossoms and doesn't burn
Answer: This is my first time using Flonase and first impression is that it smells like a mixture of floral I cannot distinguish and compare to room freshener. I don't like air freshener at all frankly, so this scent annoys me every time I use this spray, but fortunately the scent doesn't last very long and I try to breathe through my mouth until it fades. Personally, I'm going back to taking allergy pills after this is gone as I have difficulty keeping it in my nose. I don't have this same issue as much with Himalayan Chandra which burns a little but reduces my swollen nasal tissues and works fast. Both I must blow my nose after, so this is an expensive experiment with Flonase since I cannot keep it in my sinuses without using a tissue to blow my nose afterward. I try to keep it, but get tired of breathing through my mouth and give in every time.
Question: Is this the same as the prescription version? Just as strong, same chemical makeup, etc
Answer: Same exact dosage as my prescription Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray USP. 50mcg per Spray. My prescribed bottle was for 120 metered sprays.
Question: how does this compare to afrin
Answer: Afrin is designed to shrink membranes to open passages and works in 15-45 min or less. Flonase is a benign steroid that starts working after 4 days of use to desensitize mucous membranes and helps with symptomatic itchy eyes. You might try Flonase and use Afrin as back up. Flonase does not create dependency.

User questions & answers

Question: Mine runs out my nose. Is this supposed to mist
Answer: It's a mist going in. You can verify that by squirting some into the air. You are not expected to "put your head down" as another person says, to do this. It's far from a waste of money, PeninTx. If you do it 1-2-3 times per day, like upon getting up and before going to bed or when you get into the house from outdoor chores. If you are prone to sinus infections, congestion, and flares, you will surely reduce your incidence of them if you are regular and persistent in your use of saline nasal irrigation. NEVER us with tap water, mind you. Better to use the premixed packets to the correct strength per measure of clean water than to guess and mess around with salt, which is no longer recommended, whatever people of a certain age did as children "sniffing up salt water" for congestion. Today, it's distilled or boiled water only. Use the saline mix packets. They're inexpensive and convenient. I prefer the bottle to the "pot" if I use anything other than this mist version. Read the literature on the hazards of tap water and incorrect saline solution, available in scary detail all over. Please check our this answer to another questioner: Some is going to run out. Gravity does that. The path into your sinuses is not straight up. Insert the nozzle into your nostril so that you angle the business end where the mist comes out toward the outside corner of the eye on that side of your face (same side as the nostril you are shooting the solution into). If you use a saline bottle with purified water, it's the same: you angle the nozzle toward the outside corner of the eye to get the solution up into the sinuses. After doing this you can hang down as if you were going to touch your toes (if you can do that safely) to get more solution up higher. Some will come out when you straighten up. I've been at this for over 20 years with one appliance or another and it will curb your sinus problems enough to make the trouble worth it is my experience.
Question: I can't seem to get it just to mist and moisturize my nostril area,it just runs straight out.Do you hold can tilted or straight and head straight just
Answer: I hold my head straight up. I use enough that it runs out and I use a tissue then to wipe my nose. I feel the more I get up in the nostril the better. Remember, it's safe it's just a saline solution, salt water won't hurt you, well on a cut it will, but not up your nose. It really helps clear you nose. I used sleep apnea machine and my nose gets clogged and sore, the solution really helps. good luck
Question: Does this have baking soda in it and does it have the long nozzle like in your picture
Answer: I got the giant size and it appears to have baking soda (listed as sodium bicarbonate). I have the Nasal Mist and use it everyday. I love it. I no longer have to use prescription nasal sprays and I am very clear now, even all night!! Yes, it does have a long nozzle on it and it is quite comfortable to use. This is great.
Question: What is the difference between this product and Simply Saline Adult Nasal Mist, Allergy and Sinus
Answer: Allergy sinus has a stronger saline content 3.0... regular Simply Saline is 1.5.... The Allergy Sinus is more for runny nose ... It helps to dry out your sinuses... Simply Saline regular is for stuffy, dry congestion...I get Sinus Infections quite easily, so I use the Simply Saline to irrigate and loosen congestion which in turn cuts down on my yearly Sinus infections by easily 80%.. worth every penny and has improved my overall health by not taking so many antibiotics...

User questions & answers

Question: Can it be refilled
Answer: No it can’t be refilled.
Question: Where do you find glass one? This looks like metal or plastic
Answer: I would have no idea where to find a glass one. This one is tin, I think, or light metal. The container is not plastic, but the top applicator piece is.
Question: What is the sodium concentration level of this saline wash
Answer: The container does not specify the ratio of purified water to sodium chloride.
Question: How does it compare to simply saline, better or worse
Answer: Very effective. Will continue purchasing. Helps with smoke in the air.
Question: Can this raise blood pressure
Answer: As always check with your doctor but this should not raise your blood pressure. All this is is Saline. There is no medicine at all. It is used to rinse and provide moisture to your nasal passages. I used this with my grandkids.
Question: What are the ingredients? There is no picture of that part of the can
Answer: Isotonic, sterile saline solution INGREDIENTS: Water, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate.
Question: Is the water in this “purified”? It’s not safe to use unless it’s been purified. Please advise
Answer: It is the ultimate of safe, not only pure, but sterile and being in a pressurized aerosol can, it remains sterile to the last drop. Any other kind of saline bottle can easily have sterility compromised soon after opening because ambient air can get in and microbes with it. Pressurized cans are the only type of saline I trust. By the way, I'm a chemist with 40 years experience and who has owned an analytical laboratory for 21 years.
Question: Why was i charged a high shipping fee when i spent the required $25 or more?? Thank you
Answer: Amazon is a platform which the free shipping is for the qualifying item. LOOK at who the seller is. Any one given product could have more than 3 stores selling the same item.

Dulled Sense of Smell?

Nasal congestion and inflamed nasal passages make it harder for odors to reach olfactory receptor neurons (the part of your brain that allows you to smell).

Nasacort Spray relieves nasal allergy congestion to help you regain your sense of smell and enjoy the world of smells around you.

Food Tasting Blah?

When your nasal passages are congested or inflamed due to allergies, food doesn’t taste as flavorful. That’s because the brain understands flavor through taste and smell.

Relieve your nasal allergy congestion to help you savor every bite with Nasacort Allergy Spray.

Muffled Sounds?

It’s not your imagination … stuffering can dull how things sound. That’s because nasal allergycongestion can cause your eustachian tubes (the tubes that connect the middle ear and the back of the throat) to swell, which could affect that connection and how clearly you hear.

Stop the stuffering to help you hear more clearly during allergy season with Nasacort Nasal Spray.
