However, you can slide down a front panel and on the right side you can perform all the easy functions of start, stop, fast forward, reverse, record or select DVD or VHS. Once recorded I would not know how to utilize other functions (on the remote) like "system menu" or "title list up or down??" , or select record speed LP or SP,etc.

Answer:	No! Unless you want to view the contents of the tape while it in being copied. All you need to do in put a tape in its slot and a DVD in its drawer, close both and press the dub button.

Answer:	The remote that comes with the Sony Ultra 4k player is a Sony RMT-VB310U. I have also seen the player bundled with the Sony RMT-B122A on E-Bay. If you wanted to go cheap you could try one of the Universal remotes I see in assorted stores, for example Wal-Mart and Target, just be prepared to return if they don’t mate with the player.

Answer:	Do you have your program recording set up in the timer programming mode? I hadn't used mine in 5 years and couldn't remember if I could watch other channels while it was recording. That is the key and then hit timer set which turns the unit off but it turns on to record at the time you have it set. If you're just hitting record after you turn it on then it would probably do what you're experiencing. I couldn't get access to the DVD mode recently and had to unplug the unit to reset it. Can't believe what this goes for now!

Question:	Can i play vhs tapes for viewing only in addition to converting vhs to dvd
Answer:	I just received mine, so I am not 100%, but I believe so. I am disappointed as I just want to press a button and have my VHS converted to DVD and this unit doesn't seem to be able to do that. It looks like it has to be hooked up to a monitor/tv with in and out cords on both ends. I'm giving it to my son-in-law to figure out.

Answer:	I don't know. Only used it with OSX 10.7.5

Answer:	I just bought this yesterday. I am running the latest OS X Yosemite 10.11.2 and it works *but only if you plug in the device to the USB port AFTER launching the application*. If the device is already plugged in then it does not record any sound.

Answer:	The mixed answers here might be because of the following behavior: You have to plug the device into the usb port *AFTER* launching the application. If the device is already plugged in then it does not record any sound. However if you plug in the device after the app is running and asking you to plug it in it does record sound and works just fine. I am running OS X Yosemite 10.11.2.

Answer:	Check your cables from your device (camera, VCR etc.) to the converter device. When we first hooked it up, it had bad picture and no sound and it turned out to be my cable was bad. Hooked up a different one and it worked perfectly.
