Answer:	It is divided into two states: open and closed. It has two different colors divided into purple light and red light. Violet light can detect whether there is cat moss by illuminating the cat. Govee WiFi Water Leak Detector

Using the connection between the gateway, water sensors, and Govee Home App, you can monitor any leakages on your phone while you are away from home. There are no annoying wires, which makes monitoring even easier. You can also name each WiFi water sensor according to their location on the App. When a leak occurs, the sensors will not only sound a loud alarm, but email and App notifications will also be sent to your phone. You can clearly know where the leakage happened and deal with it in time.

Open the App, Connect to H5040.

After downloading 'Govee Home' from the App Store or Google Play to your phone, please open the App and sign up with your email account. Then click the icon '+' at the top right corner and select H5040 device.

Press the Pairing Button for 3 seconds

Press the pairing button for 3 seconds until the red and blue light flash alternately and then input the WiFi password on your phone. Please note any special characters, blank spaces, and so on.

Connect Your WiFi Gateway

Follow the app prompt to connect your WiFi "Govee_Gateway_xxxx" with your router (doesn't support 5G WiFi). Place the water sensors in the detecting location and name each water alert .eg. basement, kitchen. Then you can begin to monitor the water leakage on your phone!

After a successful connection, you can place the sensors and start to monitor water leakage on your App. Note: Please ensure the App and your phone settings are set to allow "push" notifications. The gateway will not send push notifications if the leak happens again in 90 seconds.

Question:	Is there any monthly or yearly fee to connect to a service
Answer:	It is hard to silence the alarm unless you make a minor modification in advance. Don't wait until the 130 dB siren is going before you work out how to disable the alarm. I've had it blaring in my ears while I frantically try to open the case to disconnect the battery, only to find that opening it is very difficult, even with the aid of a tool such as a flat-head screwdriver. What I've done since is filed down the locking tabs slightly, just enough that the plastic case still locks but is much easier to open when the alarm sounds, so that the battery can be disconnected. Then you can address the water leak in relative peace.
Question:	I don't see any rope sensors which is bad for covering areas like washers, fridge, and water heaters. Any rope solutions I'm unaware of with this
Answer:	The wire has no gauge markings- printed or imprinted. Comparing the wire side by side with a wire stripper, appears to be 18 gauge and it is definitely stranded copper. It is most assuredly no larger than 18 gauge so I would lean towards 18 to 20. I don’t know your application as to why you would need to extend the original length but I can tell you that the device is really loud when activated - if that helps you any.

For me, I had to disable the 5.1GHZ and 5.2GHZ channels as well as chan-ge the 2.4GHz channel encryption to TKIP (instead of auto). I set up all 10 devices. Put your iPhone or android in airplane mode to get the gateway connected. This wasn’t in the instructions but made the difference between pairing the gateway and not. Airplane mode; connect WiFi with cell service off and follow the directions in the app. Also do not allow any auto fill for passwords. It will not accept it you have to type in manually.

Answer:	The wifi gateway and water sensor connecting distance is about 328FT(100M) in open air, the connecting distance in the house is normally about 164FT(50M)-262FT(80M).(Depend on your house structure) . I even had a plumber accidentally kick on into my sump pump well. It sent out an audible alert, even under a foot of water. Awesome!

Question:	Can this be setup on alexa as a triggered routine? For example, if sensor is tripped turn off washer machine outlet
Answer:	Like all Ring devices, this is not compatible with Homekit out of the box. However, you can connect it to Homekit using Homebridge running off a computer or Raspberry Pi. See homebridge.io for more detail on that. Ring also promised in June 2016 that they will bring Homekit compatibility to their devices, but 4 years later and it's still not there. So Homebridge is the best option for now.
Question:	What is the maximum range distance for the gateway and sensor
Answer:	No, at this time, you cannot change any of the settings such as temperature set point. The sensor is set from the factory to alert when the temp drops below 40 degrees F. It does not give any alerts for higher temperatures at all. Of course it also sends alerts when the sensors on the underside sense water.
Question:	Can the audible alarm be silenced from the iphone app
Answer:	No, this is not compatible with the ring doorbell.
Question:	Can this be used to detect a tub that has overflowed
Answer:	Two alarms in one unit, it is made to sit on the floor. There are metal contactacts on the bottom to pick up a leak on the floor or flood and also a temperature alarm when it is less than 40F. I have mine on the floor by my sump pump crock. If it is less than 40, you get a warning before it gets cold enough to freeze a pipe.

Open the App, Connect to H5040

After downloading 'Govee Home' from the App Store or Google Play to your phone, please open the App and sign up with your email account. Then click the icon '+' at the top right corner and select H5040 device.

Press the Pairing Button for 3 seconds

Press the pairing button for 3 seconds until the red and blue light flash alternately and then input the WiFi password on your phone. Please note any special characters, blank spaces, and so on.

Connect Your WiFi Gateway

Follow the app prompt to connect your WiFi "Govee_Gateway_xxxx" with your router (doesn't support 5G WiFi). Place the water sensors in the detecting location and name each water alert .eg. basement, kitchen. Then you can begin to monitor the water leakage on your phone!

After a successful connection, you can place the sensors and start to monitor water leakage on your App. Note: Please ensure the App and your phone settings are set to allow "push" notifications. The gateway will not send push notifications if the leak happens again in 90 seconds.

Answer:	If there is moisture between electrodes alarm will sound. If you can get it in crawl space under toilet put it on something other than dirt, maybe paper towel . That way if there is any moisture paper towel will absorb it and set off alarm.

Answer:	Hi - Yes, the battery is replaceable. It's a 9-volt battery. But in my opinion, the Zircon Leak Alert alarm is better than the Honeywell. The Zircon has sensors that lie flat on the floor, as opposed to the Honeywell, which has sensors that are raised slightly above the floor. In fact, I tested the 2 alarms side-by-side and found that the Zircon's response time is faster than Honeywell's. (The Zircon also uses a 9-volt battery).
Question:	Where do the emails come from? even though there's no hub, it must connect to a remote email server (at zircon?). what if zircon stops this service

No Wires. No Hassle.

The Leak Alert has two external metal sensing contacts running a mild electrical current. When both strips get wet, through a plumbing leak, flood, or surrounding moisture condensing on the surface, the electrical circuit will complete, and the alarm will sound.

The Leak Alert detector is not a one-time use device. Each time the sensing contacts make contact with moisture and the alarm sounds, simply dry the contacts. Return the detector to its location or choose a new location as needed.

All that is needed to operate the tool is a fresh 9V alkaline battery with an extended expiration date.

1. Install the Battery

Install a new 9V alkaline battery in your Leak Alert. Just like your smoke detectors, the battery in a Leak Alert should be changed on an annual basis at minimum. For additional security, the unit will chirp if the battery is running low and will float in the event of a flood.

2. Placement

Place a Leak Alert in any location where there is a potential for water damage and flooding such as in the:

- Bathroom

- Laundry Room

- Kitchen

- Basement

- Garage

3. Respond to Alarm

Lay the Leak Alert flat with the metal contacts facing down and touching the surface. When the Leak Alert's metal sensing contacts come into contact with water, a loud 90 dB alarm sounds for up to 72 hours. The alarm is as loud as your standard smoke detector. In the event of a severe flood, the Leak Alert floats and continues to sound an alarm until the battery is depleted. To minimize property damage, respond to the alarm as quickly as possible.

Answer: No, The Leak Alert only requires a brand new 9V alkaline battery with an extended expiration date.

Q: Are the Leak Alert water detectors reusable once they’ve been activated?

A: Yes, they can be reused after the two exterior metal sensor contacts are fully dried. Be sure to remove the battery, wipe the detector’s contacts, and let it air dry for minimum of 24 hours.

A: The tool operates between 20° and 105°F and can be stored, when not in use, between 20° and 150°F.

Q: How loud is the alarm?

Q: Does the Leak Alert work on damp carpet?

Answer:	There are 3 ways to connect the extension cable to YoLink Leak Sensor. 1. Soldering with a soldering iron: (1) Use a soldering iron to solder 2 common wires (regardless of positive or negative) to a set of probes on the Leak Sensor (a set of probes on the top of the leak sensor is recommended) (2) Fix the leak sensor in one place (If you use double-sided tape to paste the bottom of the leak sensor to the wall, the thickness of the double-sided tape must be higher than the height of the footpad on the bottom of the leak sensor (>1.5mm), otherwise, the leak sensor may not stick firmly ) (3) Place the 2 wires in the area to be detected. The 2 wires must be separated and fixed with a certain distance (10~15mm) But please kindly note: If you use a soldering iron to solder the wire, it may damage the two probes of the original device, which may cause the probes to rust in a humid environment. 2. Use glue or tape to fix (1) Use glue or tape to stick 2 ordinary wires (regardless of positive or negative) to a set of probes on the leak sensor (a set of probes on the top of the leak sensor is recommended) a. Stick the wire to the end of the probe and roll it into a circle or ring to expand the contact area & assist in fixing; b. It is recommended to use glue/tape with high viscosity, which must be firmly adhered to! (2) Fix the leak sensor in one place (If you use double-sided tape to paste the bottom of the leak sensor to the wall, the thickness of the double-sided tape must be higher than the height of the footpad on the bottom of the leak sensor (>1.5mm), otherwise, the leak sensor may not stick firmly) (3) Place the 2 wires in the area to be detected. You will need to add the Govee Home skill to your skills and you need a Wifi controlled water valve actuator. I then set up a routine putting it all together and voila...It works.
