To recap, the Revolution is approx. 20% lighter, has a quad-lock hinge (4 pins instead of 2 in the lock), and due to the new pins, it has a new lever called a "Rock Lock", which is a push and release lock on the sides to adjust the ladder. While any sort of weight reduction is a good thing (when still rated for the same load), don't let this weight reduction fool you into thinking the original model is overly heavy. I have the 22' model, and I find it easy to move around. The quad locks are debatably useful, as I have never felt my 2 pin design was unstable or even the least bit wobbly. The redesigned release locks do sound nice however, as the original ones take a little getting used to. |

They'll break off allowing you to slot the feet into where they need to be to align the slots with the bolts. I'm not making this up. That's how crappy this product is. You literally have to snap off molding tabs in order to get the parts to line up. Worst. Ladder. Ever. But you'll find that out once you get past this step and on to trying to actually use the darn thing. |

You could hold the top rung and let it extend to the ground as long as there is a level area below the window and you could get the legs at least a couple feet away from the wall. It would certainly be more stable and easier to climb down than a traditional escape ladder. Not a perfect solution, but an emergency is an emergency. |
