Answer:	I believe that if there is a computer connection on the readout, the file created in your computer may be in a format that can be sent. You would have to download from the unit and see what you get and see if the weather service could use the file. There used to be local weather nets that took data from private sources.

Answer:	According to the book.2 to 180 mph2 to 156 knots1 to 80 m/s3 to 290 km/hHowever if you are in a hurricane/tornado and you get a 180MPH wind I would bet whatever supporting structure the unit was on would be somewhere down the road.

Answer:	you don't have to hook it up to a computer but that is where most of the bars and graphs are. otherwise you do get yearly and monthly,daily amounts of rain ,wind,etc from the base unit.

Answer:	From what I understand, you must purchase the "Davis Weatherlink software/Data Logger" ($125 from Amazon, overpriced I think). WeatherLink with standard Data Logger, is the "Davis software" and a "data connection" the connects your Davis weather station to your PC using a USB port. The data logger stores information even when your computers is turned off or not connected.It includes Davis Weather software that links your Davis weather station to your computer, but Davis software has poor reviews.I hear you can use the data logger with other, better software though.Comes with a data logger that fits in all Vantage Pro and Vue systems.User-Selectable storage interval, choose 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutesWeather Website, create a weather website or post weather conditions to a LAN

Answer:	Those are separate purchases. I'm on my second Davis system. Easy to use and the indoor console stores data for weeks, so when I go on vacation for 3 weeks, I can come back and access all of the data from the time I was gone.I mount mine on a telescoping flag pole. Sort of an expensive alternative, but it's easy to access the parts for maintenance and put everything at the proper heights.
Question:	I ordered batteries for the vantage pro and got non-rechargable batteries for it. Why are rechargable batteries not the defalt replacement
Answer:	Mine came with an AC adapter for the indoor console. But they recommend running it on batteries (3 - C batteries) which are expected to last close to a year. The ISS transmitter uses an ultra-capacitor which is backed up with a lithium non-rechargeable battery. If the unit is mounted high with the panels facing south and the sun shines every day, the back up will never be used. If the unit is mounted in the shade, the battery backup is supposed to last around 8 months. They say typically the backup battery should be replaced every 2 years. If the battery backup fails, the ISS will typically still work all day and most of the time at night. Small rechargeable batteries out doors don't stand up to well below zero temperatures in winter and the heat of being in the sun in summer will greatly shorten their life. The lithium battery they recommend for backup is probably the best technology for the conditions this unit is designed for.

Answer:	When I ordered my box in August it was cat6. Said so on the box and the wires were marked as such. However I do not recall the description stating cat 5. I am sure if you ordered it and it was wrong Amazon would allow free shipping for the return. One thing to be mindful is that the order may not come with the crimped and ends (mine did not). Nevertheless when I called Amazon to complain they refunded me 20 bucks. Btw my Ethernet run in buried conduit spanned about 110 ft. No issues; everything works great.

Answer:	This note is from the WeatherLink live user manual: Note: WeatherLink Live is powered by AC power with battery backup. AC power is required; it cannot be set up or run on batteries alone. It is highly recommended that you install batteries to prevent loss of data if AC power is lost. If AC power is lost, the WeatherLink Live will stop trying to communicate with your network, but it will continue to receive sensor data and store it. When AC power is resumed, it will reconnect with the network and send the records it stored during the outage to your database on the WeatherLink Cloud. This indicates that the Weatherlink Live has some internal memory for storing data in the event of a communications loss. The spec sheet does not say how much internal memory it contains or how much data it can store. You would need to contact Davis instruments for that information.
Question:	Do i need the vantage vue console if i can view my weather data on my computer
Answer:	If you are using the Davis data logger to collect data from your vantage vue to your computer then you don’t have to have the WeatherLink Live data collection hub. However, I don’t want my PC running all the time to collect the data and find it very convenient to use the WeatherLink data collection hub to feed data to WeatherLink and Weather Underground. It works great by the way. The main reason for purchasing is to feed data to the cloud without needing a PC.
Question:	I slready own a vantage vue weather station with console. can i purchase this to connect it to the weather app while still using the console as well
Answer:	Yes, you can, it is in effect another wireless receiver which does not require the original console at all or can operate right alongside with it.

Answer:	Davis #6357 is the Vantage Vue sensor suite, i.e. what is on the outdoor post. Davis #6351 is the Vantage Vue receiver console, i.e. what is placed indoors to display the data. Davis #6250 is the "system" consisting of one #6357 plus one #6351. One may also choose, as I did, to purchase a Davis #6312 (Vantage Pro2) receiver console with a few extra features to go with the #6357 sensors.

Answer:	I think you mean calibrated - yes, provided you have the console that is compatible with it. The other two answers will also helpful to you. BTW, my neighbor about 100 yards away has the same Vantage transmitter and VUE receiver. He had to take his down when he had his roof replaced. He has not put it back up because he is getting readings from mine - LOL!
Question:	How much does the sensor suite weight
Answer:	The product description says the shipping weight is 4.5 pounds. I would guess the unit itself is somewhere between 2 and 3 pounds. Another answer sent to you says they have it mounted on a 3/4 inch metal pole and has withstood 66 MPH winds with no problems.
Question:	My Davis Vantage VUE ISS needs a repair in the $100 range. Thinking of this new unit instead. Will this new unit auto-link w/ existing VV monitor
Answer:	Depending on the nature of the repairs needed, I agree that purchase of a new unit is the best way to go. I recently had a mishap with mine while trying to take it down for maintenance which resulted in damage to the ISS which possibly could have been repaired but I don't think it would have ever regained the same level of weatherproofing as it had when it was new and pre-damage. If you purchase a new ISS, it will come with an installation manual which outlines (on page 5), the procedure for changing the Transmitter ID. However you should not have to do this since it is set to "1" by default, which is probably what your damaged ISS was set to, and also what your console is set to receive. In my case all I did was disable my damaged ISS by removing the battery and waiting for a while (there must be an internal capacitor that the solar panel charges), since even in it's damaged state it was still transmitting to the console. When I got my new ISS, it was configured for Transmitter ID "1" by default, and so my Vantage VUE console started receiving data from it right away. But again when you get the new ISS, if you find that you need or want to change the transmitter ID, you can using the procedure in the installation manual. Answer:	It works amazingly well especially considering the cost. The software is somewhat basic but includes a number of decoders that you have to pay big money for on other logic analyzers. I have never once had a failure of any kind using it. Even the PWM output channels are dead on when probed on the oscilloscope. Also the probe leads are some of the best quality silicone that I have ever seen on one of these. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

Answer:	I found that putting it on the back of my iMac made the mouse skip a lot. I guess the metal frame of the computer -- or maybe the USB ports -- were interfering. I put it onto a spare USB port on my keyboard and now it works perfectly.

Answer:	I just got this mouse. I work in university and public libraries on a daily basis. You ask a great question, F. Campillo. I can aswer with certainty that this mouse does click, and if you work in those environments, you will not want this mouse. I'm leaving mine at home and going back to the expensive but effective Apple Bluetooth white, buttonless mouse. The Amazon mouse is just loud enough to be a problem to others in a quiet room (especially those sitting next to you or across from you).

Answer:	Info for the mouse is not confusing or conflicting. It is not Bluetooth, but requires the USB receiver. It works with any device with Windows or Mac OS 10; and which have a USB port. So the specs on the MacBook Air need to be checked carefully before buying - some have USB port, some don't. It's that simple.The model No. on the receiver is MGR0975, which is paired with the mouse Model No. B0005EJh6Z4. They are a pair, and yes they work with Apple with OS 10, but you need a USB port for the receiver. Question:	Replacing batteries on a roof-mounted unit is a pain. I have power there, so can it be modified easily
Answer:	You can convert "anything" battery powered to a AC converted application. Just match your voltage and amperage and seal the hole wire comes through. Easy. Just find a wall wart to match, solder additional lead wires, as required for length. Heat shrink the soldered connection. Given the 4 AA required, and I don't have this unit, my guess is something 5-6 volts with about 800 -1000 mA would work, just check the stats on it.
Question:	I know the manual says batteries in the display are for backup only, but does anyone know about how long it can survive on batteries
Answer:	I bought mine in 2016 & just had to change the batteries today 2/28/2020
Question:	What is the maximum distance between the outside unit and the display? Does the sensor need to be in the shade
Answer:	The distance is 330 ft. However be careful where you place the display from the station. Walls and other things can weaken the signal. It depends on what your house is made of. My house is primarily wood. The signal has no problem reaching the other end of my house (about 150 ft I believe). Also don't place the display near computers or radios or other electronic devices. It can cause interference with your station. Now the outside station it self is does not need shading. I actually recommend you place the station as high as possible (like on a pole on your roof, if you can't, place it no lower than 5ft-6ft from the ground) This ensures that your wind readings are accurate. The thermometer and hydrometer sensors are in the sensor and a internal fan circulates air past the sensors from outside, allowing the temperature readings to stay normal in the sun. Also make sure that station is in a wide open area with nothing around the sensor that could block the wind reaching the station. Typically I would say 50 ft from obstacles but I'm not sure how close. A lot of writing a know but hope this helps you!
