Answer:	I haven't tried to. But it's possible if you have it set to the voice activated setting more than likely. I'd assume the battery would die if it was just on full blown record setting the whole time.

Answer:	Hi...The recorder is not always on. To turn it off, press and hold the round Play/Pause button and you will see a countdown on the monitor; 1...2...3, Bye, Bye. Then the monitor goes dark. I haven't set a passcode so to turn it on I press the same button until Welcome appears on the monitor.

Answer:	I'm assuming you have the owner's/operator's manual available. If you are following the instructions correctly for turning off the device, and it doesn't operate as specified in the manual, that would suggest a malfunctioning unit. I've seen some situations where a contact will stay "closed" which would be the equivalent of holding down the power button which might only RESTART the device (would APPEAR to shut off but then start back up). But first check the manual to be sure you're doing the shut-down correctly.

Soooo one night I recorded The Beast. A couple of days later I dialed his phone and when he answered I didn't say hello, I just hit play and let him converse with The Beast. Answer:	I THINK they're the same unit. It's just that the "base" model comes with the latest map revision ... and no more. When the maps are revised ( updated ) you'd be notified that a revision is available but you'd need to buy the revision to download and install it in your unit. The alternative, "with lifetime maps" purchase costs a little more, but subsequent updates are provided at no further charge for the unit's "lifetime" (or for yours). I think the latter was a better buy and so that's what I chose.Happy trails!

Answer:	Yes, It comes with a suction cup mount, and a short USB charging cord. But an Iphone charger will also work if it's got the mini USB plug. The mount worked great as you can leave it on the window and clip/unclip the unit from it with ease. It also come with the car power cord.
Question:	Just received this today and am trying to set up. It seems to be stuck on the lock position. How do I get it off lock
Answer:	Mine included the "traffic avoidance and detour recommendations" feature. Not sure why some would state that it wasn't included. Perhaps they weren't using the required power cord. This feature requires the car adapter power cord that is included with the unit for the feature to work. If you try to use a different power cord, the feature is disabled.

Question:	I have a noisy neighbor and i need a device that can pick up his stumping and banging
Answer:	I always put a strip of heavy duty white Velcro (purchased on Amazon) on the top edge of all my GPSs'. Leave the Velcro strips together and peel the tape off the one for the glass. Set the GPS on the dash exactly where you want it and press the glued Velcro against the glass. This makes the GPS very low profile compared to the suction cup and weighted mounts and out the line of vision but very easy to see. I have never had the tape come off either one and you can easily pull the GPS off by separating the Velcro. By the way the tape I use is 3/4 inch. In the past I have had the Velcro slide down if parked into the sun for an extended period of time if it is over 90 degrees but it's been up to a 100 degrees this year and it hasn't happened. That is of course when the GPS isn't attached to it. In any event if you catch while it is still hot you can slide the tape back up into place. The reason I originally started using this method is because the dash is textured so the suction cup won't stick to it and in the winter time the suction cup wouldn't stay on the windshield besides always creating a blind spot.
Question:	Dose it record once it hears voices
Answer:	If you have the LMT version, it puts an alert up on the screen that there is a delay ahead and how much delay there will be. It hasn't yet offered an alternate route too me that I was told about in time to be able to use it. It just says you are on the fastest route already. This happens where I live so I usually know where the congestion is likely to be from experience and can route around it. That being said, on a trip through Georgia it indicated a problem ahead and I also read about the problem on one of those overhead signs as to where the problem was. With care I was able to cross 2 lanes and get off at an exit a short distance away. Followed cars who seemed to know where they were going and the Garmin immediately calculated a route back to I-75. That route was flowed by those 4 cars I followed. When it said turn to get back on I-75 they did not so I followed them. Garmin recalculated and this time everyone followed the same route and I could see the accident in my rear view mirror as I got back on I-75, 6 miles from where I left it. The road was completely blocked. Saved about 3-4 hours by following other people and Garmin at the same time. So answer is yes and no. If you leave your route to detour around a problem it will guide you back to your route. The one time it did suggest a detour to me I would have saved time, but it was offered as I passed the exit I would have needed to take. Too little too late.

Answer:	I know exactly what you mean. I had the very same problem. I keep setting it to 80 % brightness and about 3 mim, later it would revert back to 20 %. I called customer service, she had me to get into my car and power up the GPS and she got me up and running at 70% bightness and it has been there ever since (two months ago).Don't fret garmin heip is just a phone call away. Also you might check the cord of the gps as they have been know to go bad and you may have thought it was charging but the cord was bad. I had that happen to me with a cord. It does not have the capability for entering truck dimensions along with hazmat most importantly truck legal roads. It isn't marketed as one. I also have the co-pilot truck, it is by far better. I just picked up the new Rand McNally tnd 730, awaiting it's first trip out Sunday, Chicago..
