Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE standard 802. 11 Specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition.

User questions & answers
Question: | How reliable and user friendly are the parental controls |
Answer: | Just go into the HP printer’s Setup/Network config and set a manual IP - 192.168.4.60 - and be done. That will save AirPrint and other misery as well. |
Question: | Is there a separate modem I can buy that supports spectrum telephone service? I want this mesh system but need a Modem that supports my phone service |
Answer: | You need to purchase your own modem and register it with Comcast, then you can add these as your WiFi router and return the Comcast Gateway you have now. You will have to tell comcast that you are doing this, then you don't have to pay their rental fee. I have my own modem and router, have for years. It pays for itself to do it this way! |
Question: | Will this sync and interface with tp-link omada systems |
Answer: | I had an older NetGear extender (5 years or so, plugged into the wall, dual band). I just bought this to replace it and like it a lot better. It automatically finds the signals and keeps you going. My NG extender gave me a 2G and a 5G connection separately. So I had to constantly disconnect my WiFi on devices and choose the other when the connection was crappy or lost. No more of that!! My internet is one thing now and that's worth the price of admission. Also, love love the app so that I can actually see all devices using it. And the security updates are great since I'm working from home now and have to use company programs. |
Question: | I just installed this and apple is indicating wpa/wpa2 (tkip) is not considered secure. how can i configure this to wpa2 (aes) or wpa3 security type |
Answer: | The bacons have to have a power source. If it is too hot, the bacons will be too hot and crispy. We found it better to do the bacons in our oven rather than plug them in. Try it. |

Question: | Been having issues with this the wifi cuts on and off every now and then when gaming online and streaming Netflix. any idea why this happens |
Answer: | I have installed many of these in commercial properties and many more in single-family units in condo buildings. I’ve only had a problem with two of them and in both cases I had to do a firmware update and the problem went away. Hope this helps |

User questions & answers
Question: | I would like to use this router for a public space using ubiquiti access points. how many ip address can this router handle |
Answer: | I have not had a requirement to do that, but I have created 5 vlans, and 5 L3 sub interfaces. Each interface has a /24 dhcp address range, not all have all have been issued out but potentially 1254 addresses, this has not caused the router any issues. |
Question: | does this have the DHCP server functionality |
Answer: | Yes, it does have DHCP and is a router. The firewall, as deliverd, is pretty limited and your really should build your own firewall rules. |
Question: | Is the AC power adapter included in the purchase |
Answer: | Yes! This does come with a 12 volt DC power supply. It can also be powered by passive PoE (Specifically, Ubiquiti's proprietary 24 volt Passive Poe injectors and switches. In addition to the passive Poe going into to eth Port 0, you can pass that out of Eth port 4 and power another ubiquiti device that supports their passive Poe (Think their unifi AP lines, Airmax outdoor radios etc.) One other side note to keep in mind is that if one uses the included 12 volt DC adapter, pass through Poe is not supported from Eth port 4, as there is not enough wattage. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Its the same edgerouter x advanced gigabit ethernet routers er-x 256mb storage 5 gigabit rj45 ports |
Answer: | There are 2 EdgeRouter X units listed on Amazon. They are both the same. Amazon seems to default to the more expensive one when you search for it. |

Question: | Do i *need* to use the sfp port as a wan port? i have cat5e drop from a building managed switch as my internet connection, no isp router |
Answer: | Its not quiet, but its less noisy than my Trendnet 24port POE/POE+ switch with 2 fans so its barely noticeable |
Question: | Can this router power uap-ac-pro-us through poe |
Answer: | It depends on your definition of 'Enterprise Ready'. If you have a single static IP address at your company and no MPLS network, I say absolutely. If you're looking to NAT multiple statics, route over MPLS networks, or other 'advanced' things, I'd say look elsewhere. Background: I've been using the Unifi line for about a year now and my company (I work for a small IT firm) began testing it about four months after I began my initial testing. We've been deploying it to our small customers with networks as I describe, above. We've tested the Unifi site to site IPsec VPN tunnels but, without serious modification to json files through ssh, they will only establish tunnels between themselves (Unifi to Unifi). We haven't had any issues at all with traffic over, or routing for, those IPsec tunnels - they've been very reliable. This also hasn'tt been a problem as we run the USG Pro4, 24p PoE USW and a Unifi AP Pro at our office and Cisco Firepower stuff at the datacenter for connecting to our larger clients but I can definitely see how some folks would gripe at this. With regards to reconfiguring issues, as some folks have eluded to - I have developed a procedure that allows me to reprogram the USG with any internal network subnet/IP Scheme and any DHCP server without issue. Sure, developing the process was a bit of a pain but once I had it documented, we have had zero issues configuring the Unifi networking stuff with a default non-192.168.1.0/24 network. We've configured it for use with and without external DHCP servers, no issues whatsoever. I will say this - I've been impressed with Unifi's products, overall - on all fronts. Their build quality is top notch (their new HD wap is seriously impressive, as is their USG/networking gear) and they're constantly improving their stuff through controller/firmware updates and upgrades. The difference in their product between a year ago and now is huge.I know you can outfit an entire office (usg, usw, uap, cloud key) for about $800 which is a fraction of the cost of one Cisco firewall. |

Answer: | Hello Sebastian, We deliver the license activation certificate in two ways... 1) As an attachment to a message thru Amazon to you for that order (So you would need to check your messages in the Amazon account the order is placed through) AND 2) We ship the actual physical certificate by the shipping option you select because Amazon requires a tracking number to be provided for all orders placed through them. (NOTE: Please select Free Economy when ordering licenses. You will receive the digital version through Amazon's messaging system either the same day or the next...the physical version we ship is simply to provide a tracking number and show Amazon the order has been fulfilled). Also, please be advised that you are considering a 1 year license. Therefore, if the support and security services are... > CURRENT: The new expiry for all the services will be 1 year from the current expiry date. > EXPIRED: The new expiry date for the security services portion of the SKU will be 1 year from the renewal license activation date. The support portion will backdate to its expired date. The new expiry for the support portion will be 1 year from it's expired date. In this case, if you want the full time of support you purchase also, then you will need to purchase a minimum of a 2 year renewal (01-SSC-1799) which will also waive the reinstatement fee and give you a full 2 years of BOTH support and security services from the date the renewal license is activated. If you have any further questions, give me a call at the below number. Thank you for the opportunity and privilege of serving you!
