Answer:	Hello! Thank you for your question. The soft brass is metallic, so it is shiny, but softened. It is not as shiny as a chrome or mirrored finish. I hope that helps.

Answer:	I think so. I use this on my counter next to my coffee maker to put the used pods in. It hasn’t rusted for me and I do wipe it down often.

Answer:	Nothing on the item or its packaging say anything about it being dishwasher-safe or not. It’s small enough that makes it easy to wash by hand. I line it with a plastic liner so it doesn’t require washing that often. You may be able to put the lid in the top rack of a dishwasher but personally, I wouldn’t do it if only to keep it looking as good as it does.

Answer:	Mine came apart after I tried several times to remove the lid, and the little parts disappeared across the room. Not happy about how stinking difficult it was to empty since the lid blocks EVERYTHING from coming out. It would be a MUCH BETTER design if the lid sat in a channel slot and merely rocked back and forth freely where you could pull it off and place it back in the slots that it hung from. Now I have a worthless lid and a $30 waste can that I could have bought for $8 at Walmart! No thanks, I won’t be buying this again. Duuumb design.
