Answer:	The top is very smooth except of course around where you put your phone. It's probably one of the best things I bought to hold my laptop and pad. Does have an elastic band that holds your notes or whatever, but it does have a piece of wood at the bottom so your things don't fall off.

Answer:	This has a pillow filled with microbeads that conforms to your lap. You can move the microbeads to make the desk tilt higher or flatten for a more level position. That's it. No fancy adjustments.

Answer:	I have a touch pad, not a mouse. Depending on the size of your laptop, you might make enough room for a mouse by moving the laptop to one side.

Answer:	you will only know if you order it. I ordered it for my older Volvo, it sort of fit but not perfect, I guess I was not thinking clearly about functionality as I stupidly thought I could drive with it it! LOL! so understand this is not something you can install for a long road trip, you put it on and take it off. The wheel won't turn properly with it installed at least in the Volvo. But I chose to put it on my lap as I already have a drink holder. but this contains things, snacks, and if I need to stop and write something on a laptop it is also handy.

Question:	Are the fan noises high-pitched
Answer:	I have had mine since Oct 2, 2014 - I often had to check to be sure it was still working because I was not hearing it. The first of this year (2016), it did begin making loud fan noises when I started my laptop & often I would just unplug until laptop was running. But now (Jan, 2017) the noise has stopped.Other than the noise it made earlier this year, I have had no problems with it & it is still working as well as it did when I first purchased it 10/02/14. Plus I use my laptop with the fan 8 hours or longer almost every day.---Some people may get lemons but that is the case no matter what you buy. - As for me, mine is fantastic.

Answer:	It'll fit just fine if your backpack says it will fit 17" laptops. As for the fan problem it's because the fan bearings get dirty and dry, you have to blow out the fans with a can of air and then take the sticker off the back of the offending fan making noise and put a drop of 3-in-1 oil into the bearing reservoir every now and then. The cramped space makes this a bit of a PITA but it can be done.

Answer:	If it fails within 1 year, go on the Targus website and send them a message explaining what's wrong and they will replace or repair it for you, after you pay to ship it to them. It took about a month for me to get mine back from them.

Answer:	Only one side, other side is left blank and often used for stamping.
Question:	What is the total width with the mousepad slid out
Answer:	If it's uses the same series as the 5143 and 6200, then your matching key number on the lock mechanism (Axxxx, as shown on the top of one of the pictures on this item). For example my number was only 1 digit off from the picture on this items page. It's not like every key is unique, they probably have 10 (or less) combinations. I would call the company, and give them that number they should provide a new key (at a cost). Or if you're really desperate, go to Lowe's/Home Depot find the mailbox that has the same number on it's keys and use that temporarily and/or make copies.
Question:	Can you fit a 15.6" laptop on it, comfortably
Answer:	Hello, the 5143 Key Blanks fit the Oasis Classic (model# 6200) which will have a lock code similar to the one you just listed. The key blanks are meant to be taken to a locksmith with your original keys to be copied.
