User questions & answers

Question: Where does the heat sink go? Is it just stuck to the top of the processor or does it go somewhere else on the board
Answer: Python is included in the Raspian operating system along with the Thonny IDE that you'll use as your workspace to do your coding. The SD micro card you'll use to plug into the pi will have all that stuff on it and will set everything up for you the first time you boot it up. Watch those UTube videos and tutorials, they're priceless!
Question: What game systems can this emulate smoothly
Answer: No.
Question: Is there a light that lights up when it gets power
Answer: No case is included but yes you will need to pop it in a case or just put it on a non-conductive surface. The computer itself is complete other than the SDcard which will need have an image on it and put into the slot.
Question: What is the minimum and maximum SD card this little guy can take
Answer: I don't know the answer to the question you're asking but I want to expand on what you're asking. The original revision of the board has issues on the USB-C port had issues not working with LOTS of chargers as it was out of spec and caused thing's to be be identified as an audio device.

    User questions & answers

    Question: What is noobs
Answer: NOOBS stands for New Out Of the Box Softwear. It is a piece of softwear put together by the people who design and build the Debian (Named for Debbie and Ian, hence Debian) software which is designed Especially for the Raspberry Pi. You will find it is the best choice and fit for the Machine itself. With the Canakit you get EVERYTHING you need to get started. By following their excellent instructions, you will soon be up and running. I believe they have just about thought of everything. Correct power supply, Power on/off switch, adapter for both power and Mini HDMI connectors and a fan powered case. With the NOOBS on the Micro SD HD card you can choose the OS you prefer from about 5-6 choices. I recommend Raspbian Buster, and the Elec one that supplies the Kodi installation of the OS. The HD card you are supplied is big enough to hold both systems. That way, you can dual boot to either one and live like a king. Enjoy the Raspberry Pi 4 You have one of the best single board computers ever built. Should give you years of "building" or "Makers" fun.
Question: How do you attach the heat sink? This is my 1st Pi
Answer: The heat sinks aren’t officially a requirement but since they are in the kit it makes perfect sense to put the on especially if you plan to run your pi with passive cooling. Mine also came with the fan.
Question: This kit does not include a fan, right
Answer: A small fan is included, but it is not really required unless you are going to run the board hard with 24/7 computing projects. For distributed computing projects where the CPU is run at 100%, the fan will hold temps down by about 10 deg C with the heatsinks.
Question: My son is asking for this and he is 11. Appropriate
Answer: If your 11 year old protege is wise enough to ask for one of these, he deserves both this and a 7in touchscreen Raspberry Pi monitor to support his future endeavors. Brilliant kid- sending virtual kudos.

Raspberry Pi Cookbook: Software and Hardware Problems and Solutions

    Product features

    From the Preface

Launched in 2011, the Raspberry Pi has found a role both as a very low-cost Linux-based computer and as a platform for embedded computing. It has proven popular with educators and hobbyists alike.

As of this writing, more than 20 million Raspberry Pis have been sold. The Raspberry Pi 4 with an option of 4 GB of performance makes the Raspberry Pi more than powerful enough to use as a replacement for a desktop computer. The availability of open source software for internet browsing, email, office suites, and photo editing is set to make the Raspberry Pi even more popular.

Even the latest Raspberry Pi 4 still includes the general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins that allow the hobbyist to add their own electronic contraptions to the Raspberry Pi.

This edition has been thoroughly updated to encompass the new models of Raspberry Pi, as well as the many changes and improvements to its Raspbian operating system. There are also new chapters on sound and home automation.

This book is designed so that you can read it linearly, as you would a regular book, or access recipes at random. You can search the table of contents or index for a specific recipe & jump directly to it. If the recipe requires you to know about other things, it will refer you to other recipes, rather like a cookbook might refer you to base sauces before showing you how to cook something fancier.

The world of Raspberry Pi moves quickly. With a large, active community, new interface boards and software libraries are being developed all the time. In addition to examples that use specific interface boards or software, the book also covers basic principles so that you can have a better understanding of how to use new technologies that come along as the Raspberry Pi ecosystem develops.

    User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone know what voltage the fan is? Looking to replace the stock one when it arrives
Answer: No need to replace the fan. Once you install the ArgonOne script to the PI you can set the percentage that the fan runs at three temps. Besides the fan is wisper quiet.
Question: Are original msata cards supported
Answer: mSATA SSD's are not compatible. Case only accepts any size of M.2 SATA SSD with Key-B or Key-B&M.
Question: Amz listing for top package (of the 3) is confusing! is this the argon one m.2 and ssd base as one set? no pi, psu nor ssd included right
Answer: 3 Versions: 1- No M.2 is only moving position of micro HDMI(no conversion to HDMI) and Audio to same side as USB. Has opening for SD slot in correct position. Fan included. Ordered by me. Needed next version. 2- M.2 bottom part(no conversion to HDMI, no remote sensor) uses part already ordered above only adds M.2 with USB 3 connection with donggle provided. No access to the SD card slot I found out after I ordered so kinda regretted as boot is required with SD for most things so if you want to go to different Operating systems kinda an issue and I haven't changed to M.2 sata SSD card yet as still trying to play with operating systems. Want Windows but not a fully updatable version yet and arm 64 version available just recently but buggy. (M.2 sata SSD card 2280 separate has to be this type of SSD) I ordered SSD tried to use with Twister but not fully working yet as haven't switched to SSD storage yet. I had to make a hole for the SD card change out for booting different operating systems. For this reason should have bought the next version and HDMI conversion. 3-M.2 bundle (haven't ordered yet as my build has run me tight on money should have just bought this one to begin with just for the HDMI conversion) I had to buy micro SD conversion cords for previous version if bought this version wouldn't have had to. Still have to buy separate M.2 sata SSD card I bought one on sale which was a great price plus I had a first time order credit so really good deal. If only I bought this version. I am not sure if this version has slot for SD card as same bottom as the second version I believe comes with this version. I am guessing not. I would suggest if you order argon m.2 buy the whole bundle not separately. This version even if you have an SD card slot issue like me at least until I put everything to M.2 sata SSD card. Just some OS require booting through SD card I believe. Still new to Rasberry pi 4B 8GB wifi version as well as Linux. The command in Linux is included in your instruction manuals for fan but the fan wouldn't work through Windows the times I tried and command wouldn't work through command prompt so need to figure out as it got real hot with Windows the last try and slow too.
Question: Does this support nvme cards like the samsung 970 evo m.2 nvme
Answer: They used the m.2 sata III Card. Speed limitation is the usb 3. So sata is the right speed. Nvme is bottlenecked @ usb or its speed is useless and expensive by it self. Sata is plenty fast.

    User questions & answers

Question: Ok i’m totally new to all this tech stuff. i’m branching out learning something new. do i need to by python for coding or is it on here or at least ea
Question: Is an SD card included in this kit
    Answer: No.
Question: Is the raspberry pi itself all prebuilt? Would i just need to pop it into the case
Answer: No case is included but yes you will need to pop it in a case or just put it on a non-conductive surface. The computer itself is complete other than the SDcard which will need have an image on it and put into the slot.
Question: Are the ones you are shipping now the revised version 1.2 boards with the fixed usb-c port
Answer: I don't know the answer to the question you're asking but I want to expand on what you're asking. The original revision of the board has issues on the USB-C port had issues not working with LOTS of chargers as it was out of spec and caused thing's to be be identified as an audio device.

    User questions & answers

Question: Is this a package of 9? How many come in the package
Answer: Only one comes in package with no cables.
Question: What is included? pizero, hub and camera
Answer: Only the Pi Zero is included.
    Question: Does it have wifi
Answer: Does not have wifi built in. You would need to use a usb hub and mini usb wifi adapter. Works great with the usb wireless adapter.
Question: Isn't this suppose to be $5? Doesn't charging $40 defeat the purpose
Answer: you can goto canakit dot com and order 1 (they only allow 1) for $5. They charge $9.95 for shipping though - so you'll probably want to get the power supply and maybe camera, sd card, or something else to make the shipping worthwhile.

Raspberry pi 3 Model B Description

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B SBC

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B looks identical to the Pi 2 B at first glance. It is the same size and has much of the same components on board. So what is the difference? The new Pi 3 brings more processing power and on-board connectivity, saving you time with the development of your applications. Perfect for your Internet of Things (IoT) designs.

Difference of Element 14 version pi 3 and UK version pi 3

The Element 14 version pi 3 is made in p.r.c,but with the same appearance and function with UK version.

They are the same thing but two versions of Raspberry pi 3 Model B

Pi 3 compare to Pi 2

More processor speed. The CPU on the Pi 3 is one and a half times faster at 1.2 GHz. Your Pi board performs better.

On-board connectivity. The Pi 3 features 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN and Bluetooth Classic & Low Energy (BLE). You can get connected much quicker without the need for any external device.

2.5 A power supply. With more processor speed and on-board connectivity, you'll need more power. Power supplies for previous Pi boards will not be sufficient. You will need the Official Raspberry Pi 3 Power Supply (9098126 — white) or (9098135 — black).

New components. The Pi 3 features a chip antenna where status LEDs were located previously. The status LEDs are still on the board, right next to the microSD card slot.

    New to Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a single computer board — developed to encourage and aid the teaching of programming and computing. It is also a fantastic starting point for the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) projects. The low cost and 'plug and play' nature of Pi makes for a board that is accessible to all and has numerous connectivity options. Pi is the perfect experimental tool, whether you want to use it as a desktop computer, media centre, server or monitoring/security device within your home. No limits. Linux-based operating systems run on the Pi with plenty of access to free software and downloads. What is more, there is a great Pi community out there — look at DesignSpark, the design engineer community at internet.
