LCD1602 module is a display that has an LED backlight and can display two rows with up to 16 characters on each row. You can see the rectangles for each character on the display and the pixels that make up each character. The display is just white on blue and is intended for showing text.
Lining up the display with the top of the breadboard helps to identify its pins without too much counting, especially if the breadboard has its rows numbered with row 1 as the top row of the board. Do not forget, the long yellow lead that links the slider of the pot to pin 3 of the display. The 'pot' is used to control the contrast of the display.

In this project you will learn how to control a small DC motor using a Mega2560 board and a L293D transistor, which is a very useful chip. It can actually control two motors independently. We are just using half the chip in this lesson, most of the pins on the right hand side of the chip are for controlling a second motor.
L293D is quadruple high-current half-H drivers and designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 1 A at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V. 4 digit 7 segment display
7 segment displays consist of 7 LEDs, called segments, arranged in the shape of an “8”. Most 7-segment displays actually have 8 segments, with a dot on the right side of the digit that serves as a decimal point. LCD1602 module is a display that has an LED backlight and can display two rows with up to 16 characters on each row. You can see the rectangles for each character on the display and the pixels that make up each character. The display is just white on blue and is intended for showing text.
Lining up the display with the top of the breadboard helps to identify its pins without too much counting, especially if the breadboard has its rows numbered with row 1 as the top row of the board. Do not forget, the long yellow lead that links the slider of the pot to pin 3 of the display. The 'pot' is used to control the contrast of the display.
DC Motors and L293D Transistor
In this project you will learn how to control a small DC motor using an UNO R3 and a L293D transistor, which is a very useful chip. It can actually control two motors independently. We are just using half the chip in this lesson, most of the pins on the right hand side of the chip are for controlling a second motor.
L293D is quadruple high-current half-H drivers and designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 1 A at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V. The L293D is also designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 600-mA at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 V and drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, dc and bipolar stepping motors, as well as other high-current/high-voltage loads in positive-supply applications.

Despite that the Mega and UnoR3 have worked without issue. You do need to install a driver for them. Did you read the PDF supplied on the USB drive inside the kit????? Answer: | Good day Jose, I am not sure what your problem is with this mini cd, so l will just list some reasons and perhaps you can identify a solution. 1) Because this CD is smaller than the standard size, it can't be inserted directly into the slot of enclosed types of CD drives. The type of CD drive that you need to use are the drives that pop out like a small draw and the disc is then clipped directly onto the centre of the drive, then the drive is pushed closed. All laptop computers use this style of CD. 2) After you insert the mini CD, if it does not run automatically, then click on your desktop icon for "my compuer" and all your drives will be displayed, look for your CD drive icon and click on that, then your CD will run and the files on the disc will be displayed, then click on what ever file you want to see. 3) I can't think of any other issue that you may have, unless you have a faulty CD, however, if this was the case, your computer would report some sort of error messag. Hope this helps |

1602 LCD Display Module
This is great LCD display compatible with arduino.
With limited pin resources, your project will quickly run out of resources using normal LCDs. With this I2C interface LCD module, you only need 2 lines (I2C)to display the information.
If you already have I2C devices in your project, this LCD module actually cost no more resources at all. The address can be set 0x2.
74HC595 and Segment Display
Common anode 7-segment display Each segment of the display consists of an LED. So when you use it, you also need use a current-limiting resistor.
Otherwise,LED will be burnt out. In this experiment,we use a common cathode display. As we mentioned above, for common cathode display, connect the common cathode (COM) to GND. When the anode level of a certain segment is high, the segment is on; when the anode level of a certain segment is low, the segment is off.
