I bought the lifetime which was 149.00 one time fee. Sometimes they drop price and have a sale. Overall Plex is better for me I think.

Answer:	A better antenna does improve efficiency. I've tried several different types of rabbit ears and the like but have had the best success with one of the "leaf antennas" (copy and use this link for Amazon search: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_5?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=leaf+antenna&sprefix=leaf+%2Celectronics%2C252). I use it at work and I am at the outer edge of reception and behind some hills. As one of the other answers stated with digital it is usually there or not. These leaf antennas seem to be able to pull in the weakest stations with not problems. Also, the power amplifier included with some of the versions also makes a difference. If you live with lots of clutter (trees, hills, buildings, etc) try one of the powered ones. Good luck.

Answer:	I have a telescoping antenna from a previous HDTV OTA tuner that has a heavier and magnetic base, however, it doesn't have any better/worse reception than this "V" antenna, which is so flimsy, each individual antennae isn't strong enough to stay in any fixed "up" position. Answer:	It will drive you crazy trying to find a logical explanation, OR a fix. Had this for a couple of years. GREAT at first, then started losing channels, then died about 6 months ago. Very common to find the same in reviews on other sites. So the good news is, NO contract...the Bad news is, you get to buy a new one every year, that's if you are lucky. Get used to it folks, many electronic devices that used to last for 10 years, now last less than one. But to answer you specifically, it makes no difference. Ran through splitter for the year that it worked, when it quit, I tried direct, new wire, cleaned antenna connections, many hours of work wasted. Not saying some may have used bad splitters, and a temp fix may be lucky for you. For more info, check newegg with 10 times the reviews. It has a %47 total, %28 1 or 2 star and only %16 4 star. Even that is misleading because so many post the review when they first set it up and don't bother when it fails. As much as I enjoyed how well it worked at first, I refuse to pay $50 a year to keep replacing them.

This custom Nooelec SDR is a modified DVB-T USB dongle tuned for SDR usage, including upgraded crystal, capacitors and inductors compared to generic devices like those sold by competitors. This results in a lowered noise floor, increased stability and improved longevity.

These units are based on the R820T tuner IC made by Rafael Micro. As such, they have a frequency capability of approximately 25MHz-1750MHz, though this can vary somewhat from unit to unit. There is also an RTL2832U IC on board of course, which acts as the demodulator and USB interface.

Question:	Anyone have any issues with their recording schedules disappearing? Mine wiped all my schedules
Answer:	Ok I don't have this model but I have another model by same company (HW-150pvr) and it is dumping schedules too. I've had two units over 4 years and it's happened in the past but happening a lot more now. I'm on Amazon to find a replacement because this is unacceptable. I'm thinking Mediasonic is to be avoided.

Answer:	I used a 500GB salvaged out of an old laptop that was totally dead. I ordered a cheap $7.99 ORICO USB3.0 to SATA III 2.5" External Hard Drive Enclosure from Amazon as well to mount it in. Worked perfectly. I've also used a cheap (free) 32GB USB thumb drive that I didn't have any problem with. Got that thumb drive free from a Microcenter computer store.

Answer:	I wouldn't think so. As long as your TV has the proper hook ups it'll work. With that said, it really all depends on the weather as to how good a reception you get and how the antenna is positioned. On a cloudy and windy day I've gotten channels from about 60-70 miles away. On a good clear day I've gotten channels from 130 + miles away.
Question:	I live way back in a very wooded area. The nearest town is a hour away. Will this work for me
Answer:	I live 60 miles from the nearest cell tower. This antenna did not pick up any stations. I tried attaching it to several windows. Nothing. I did buy a HotCat with an 85 mile range that worked a little better. The stations it picks up depends on the direction it is facing, and the weather.

Answer:	It should work with any USB connection. I've used mine on my custom built tower which has USB 3.0 ports and my Sony Vaio laptop in both the 2.0 and 3.0 ports.
Question:	How many integrated tuners
Answer:	The length of the cable is 8" from the end of the hub to the end of the usb plug. I think some of the confusion comes from the multiple device listings on the same page. I believe the one I bought had a promo code and was the base model. That one comes as the hub alone. If you look closely, the other ones are listed with a 3 foot USB extension cable. It all depends what you are looking for. In my case I didn't need the extra 3' of cable laying on my desk. It worked fine for my older laptop with one USB 3.0 plug. Mine did not lose connection however as another customer had experienced. Hope this helps you out there and sorry for the delay in answering.

Answer:	It can physically pick up signals for tv, but tvheadend does not know how to use rtl-sdr. I just tried that earlier today. If you are looking to use this with Kodi, the only plugin that supports rtl-sdr does not work with the recent Kodi gui api. As for what software can be used with tv, I do not know. I am still working that out on trying to get tv on my pi.

Answer:	The NooElec NESDR is basically the same unit with the same chipset in a smaller case. I have several of these smaller versions (nano) and they all work the same as the larger ones with the R820T not the E4000. There is a tuning coverage difference between the versions with the R820T and the version with the E4000. Both work well as SDR's. Don't forget to buy a MCX adapter for an external antenna connection. You may also require an SMA to BNC or PL259.

Using it as a 'real' software defined radio means (1) the software it started out with is no longer used, and (2) the little remote it came with does not know much about whatever software is in place for your planned use. There are very clever folks about - even now, someone may be looking at the little remote, thinking 'hey, if l decode the signals this remote sends, bet I could lace them into this new code, here, to do....somthing... cool...' Shorter answer, not intended to be snarky, is: without appropriate code, it fits in a waste can... sorry. Good luck.

As far as digital communications go, none that I'm aware of yet but the GnuRadio (http://www.gnuradio.org) project has more functions and capabilities than one can fathom. I've decoded a number of digital transmissions (mostly just AFSK, ham packet radio and POCSAG pager messages) but not voice.
