To use Hard Drive Offline Clone Function:

4. Hold down the CLONE button, release when you see a Blue LED.

5. Then quickly press the CLONE Button.

6. A Blue LED will flash on 25% indicating that the cloning process has begun.

7. The cloning process is complete when ALL the lights turn solid Blue (25%-100%).

8. Finally press the power switch to the OFF position and eject your drives.

If your data folders were part of your C drive or primary partition, then I can't say why. Possibly use a file recovery/restoration program like GetDataBack. That's an old one I used to use, there are newer ones now (possibly free ones, not sure) that may show the other partitions if you had any like that.

Question:	I have a 1TB internal hard drive which I want to convert to external for backup storage.Is this a viable solution
Answer:	Depends on the HDD or SSD you are using and how you intend to use it. This drive is really made for fast-access to a variety of different drives for shorter periods. The interface is high-speed, but the case does NOT seal out dust, it does not give any sort of shock/impact damage protection, and not having any sort of cooling, it can get very hot with high speed HDDs. I have a 10k RPM WD Raptor from quite a few years back that I wanted to pull music off of. Over about an hour of usage, it got quite hot. While perfectly fine for intermittent usage, this is not ideal for frequent or prolonged usage given heat is a major catalyst of premature hard drive failure. So with higher RPM HDDs, this is not as good a choice for constant usage as a dedicated enclosure with some shock protection and a cooling fan/heat sinks. With a SSD, this is obviously not of concern. So if your 1tb is a HDD and you want to have it running constantly for backups, an external with a fan and shock protection would be a better match, IMO. Depending on the age of your drive though, it may be worth considering buying a new drive outright given you can get enterprise grade drives like the WD RE4's in that size for under $70 and SSDs have even gotten very affordable. While predicting when a specific drive fails is very difficult to do, standard consumer-grade HDDs tend to have failure rates increase at the 3-4 year mark and really spike at the 4-5 year mark (Google's study on this is the most detailed I know of to date.) An enterprise drive would give you a more reliable backup system with a longer reliable service life, and usually read/write speeds that are 2-3 times faster than standard internal HDDs (of which you would need to use USB3 or ThunderBolt to take full advantage of.)Sorry for the long response.

Answer:	This docking station allows you to treat an internal drive as an external drive attached to a USB port. If the BIos on your computer allows you to boot from an external drive then I guess it would be possible. Windows 10 is a bit finicky so would need to be installed with the system configured. A lot of work for little return. Much easier to use an internal drive.

Answer:	100% compatible with Windows 10. I have already used it to format drives, create and store back ups.

Answer:	The dock will open unless you fasten the hinged part, too. Even then, I wouldn't recommend hanging it upside down. There hard drive is not secured into the plastic.

Answer:	It's temperature controlled, fan runs very quietly, although it might spin faster and make more noise if the drive gets really hot - mine never does, I don't use it long enough to find out - just do data file back ups and system images, so I don't have it running more than an hour or so at the most.

Answer:	Yes, this unit has a cooling fan. It runs pretty much the entire time the unit is powered on. Fairly quiet, but you will hear it.
Question:	Does inserting a second drive cause the first to dismount, like the startech and cineraid units
Answer:	no
Question:	Do I need to switch the dock off to plug in drives
Answer:	Running on windows 7 I am unable to hot swap. Pulling a drive causes the second drive to fail to respond and replacing a drive is not detected until power cycling the unit.

Question:	I have a 3.5" drive bay with the SATA and power socket hard mounted in order to "hot" swap the drive. Do these plugs line up exactly like that
Answer:	Works great in my Synology NAS which does do hot swapping of SATA drives. And it does pass 12V as well as 5V so it will work with a large Ironwolf SSD.
Question:	What cable do i need
Answer:	The converter bracket wouldn't actually determine the type of 'cable' required, as much as the device being mounted into it. Since it is intended for SATA devices, normally one would use standard SATA interface and power connection cables. No doubt you already know that this converter bracket simply allows smaller format SATA devices (like a 2½" SSD or a 2½" SATA laptop HDD) to be mounted in a 3½" 'bay'. Or, as in my case, I used this to mount an SSD in a removable hard disk 'tray' in a "low-profile" 1U Dell Power Edge Server (... and, by the way, was an absolutely perfect fit, providing the exact alignment for the very precise needs of this 1U rackmount server system. Dell's suggested OEM tray adapter was approximately 6X the cost of this Sabrent adapter, yet resembled Dell's adapter almost exactly).
Question:	Will this fit a 2008 mac pro with an ssd
Answer:	I bought it (BK-PCBS) for a Mac Pro 2008 3,1 and it works perfectly. The person who is adamant that this doesn't fit is completely wrong. They probably don't realize that you need the aluminum drive tray sled to make it work.

Question:	Is there a maximum storage size per hdd or in total
Answer:	I'm fairly sure there IS a maximum size limit, but I haven't found it, and I am running 10TB drives in mine without any problem at all. This is a good, reliable unit and it is as fast as advertised.
Question:	Is there a version of this with a cover of some sort
Answer:	Don't cover it with anything. Especially cardboard! The drives will get way too hot. If you find an multiple drive dock that's enclosed make sure it has a fan.
Question:	Can the drives be shown as 4 drive letters, or is this just for cloning etc
Answer:	Yes. Your computer will assign drive letters. When a drive is being accessed, the indicator light on the front of the case will flash.
Question:	How does this show up in device manager? does it show up as a single usb device with multiple drives attached, or as multiple usb drives
Answer:	Multiple usb drives.
