Question:	How is this differiant that the yaesu ft-857d
Answer:	The FT 2980R is, as stated, a 2 meter only FM transceiver. Yes, I know, the ad says it is single side band. I don't think so, I think it is FM only. The FT-857D is an all mode, all band radio; AM, FM, SSB, CW; with full coverage from the 70 centimeter band clear on up to the 160 meter band. In other words, HF, VHF, and UHF.
Question:	Whats the different between this device and the yaesu ft-2900r
Answer:	This is the newer updated version of the discontinued FT-2900R . The main difference is this unit has a higher output power of 80 Watts.
Question:	I ordered the ft-2980r. will i need an antenna tuner if i use the "magnetic mobile antenna ham radio 2 meter / 70 cm 140 to 150 and 440 to 470 mhz
Answer:	Probably not, IF you have an SWR meter and adjust the mag mount antenna for best SWR. NOTE: You will need a meter designed and built for VHF/UHF frequencies and FM, not the typical 30Mhz CB meter.

Answer:	No. This is a compact radio and comes with a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack and charge cradle. No option for using AA cells.
Question:	I see Software for programing as a download but no programing cable? Is it avaiable
Answer:	The reprogramming cable does not come with the radio. You can buy one for about $25 if you need it. (I just did a Web search for “Yaesu 250 programming cable”.) 99% of all the features are accessible via the Setup menu on the radio. This is a great basic VHF backup radio for the price.
Question:	Does the headset adapter allow you to plug directly into the Bose A20 and uses the mic activator on the airplane yoke
Answer:	The BOSE A20 will connect to the radio via the supplied headset adapter. Ensure that you set the mic to external on the radio, otherwise the headset microphone will not work to the radio. You will need an inline, remote PTT switch, connected via the headset adapter, and mount it on the yoke

Answer:	Yes it does have overcharge protection and yes you can leave the battery in the charger as long as the battery is fully charged. .

Answer:	I think it has trouble charging while operating. You also need to watch out for a design flaw. The middle contact is a feedback to the charging circuit to determine if the radio is fully charged. It is a direct line to the gate of an ESD sensitive MOSFET. IF the green light is always on when you insert your HT, then the MOSFET may have failed. You will need to replace it and insert a 100M Ohm resistor into that circuit to protect the MOSFET from ESD. I have two of these charges and I have done this with both. Look up CD-41 MOSFET fix on YouTube for the details.

Answer:	Yes the VX-8DR radio with FNB-102Li battery will fit into this charger just fine. Batteries can also be charged in this charger while off the radio.

Answer:	I purchased this speaker for a mobile installation (at the time a Yaesu FT 7900). I have since replaced the 7900 with an Icom 5100 but I still use this speaker to get the sound up to near ear level. For my base radios, I use speakers that are much better suited for base operations (and much more expensive). These speakers allow much more adjustment (such as a high cut or low cut feature) and are more sensitive. If the size is the most important factor for you the dimensions are Height: 3.75 in. Width: 5.5 in. Depth 1.75 in. It's all a mater of what you are looking for in a speaker and what you are willing to pay to get it.

Answer:	Not sure as my extension cable was included with my 8900. I would think any standad 8mm female to male would work
