User questions & answers
Question: | Will the chime pro extend the WiFi range to my ring alarm base? Currently it is just barely in range and disconnects throughout the day |
Answer: | Yes! |
Question: | How do i disable night light |
Answer: | But the light does NOT “automatically” come on. You either set it on or off. Fairly significant misrepresentation by Ring. |
Question: | Can i use more than one chime pro in my ring network |
Answer: | Hi there, Yes, you can use multiple Chime Pro devices to expand your Ring of security. The set up process will be the same for each device and will be completed through the Ring app. We can help ensure everything is working as intended if you need us. Please reach us at [email protected] at your convenience. Regards, Ring Team |
Question: | Will the extended wi-fi be available for other (non-ring) devices? or am i better off just getting a wi-fi extender |
Answer: | No it only works for other ring devices. I’m not pleased about that when the device name says Wi-Fi extender. Just found out the hard way I need to buy another device for Netflix to play in the bedroom. |

Question: | Does it play a different sound for each ring doorbell? The old chime would not. Does the new one |
Answer: | AFAIK you need to buy two in order to get a chime for each doorbell then link them separately to each ring. Then you have to change the tone for both doorbells to get a unique sound for each door. |
Question: | Does this chime work only when the button is pushed on the doorbell device |
Answer: | You can also set it up to make a chime when it detects motion. I usually have this setting turned off so it only chimes when someone pushes the button. |
Question: | How long does this new chime work? i have 2 chimes & a chime pro. only one works. the others flash & will not connect or just doesn't work at all |
Answer: | Mine also quit working after 2-2.5 years! Do these things come with a warranty? I would also like to know how long this one lasts. It's ridiculous if I have to buy one of these every 2.5 years! C'mon Ring, improve your chime quality! |

Answer: | No. It can be plugged into a power outlet |
Question: | How far will it extend WiFi range and what is the difference between this and newer version |
Answer: | No charge for Alexa, but if you want ring to store your video (+ some other features like pro monitoring if you have alarm) it’s $3 per month per device or $10 a month for all devices. |
Question: | Does this only amplify wi-fi for ring devices? i would like to know if it extends the wi-fi signal other electronics in my house |
Answer: | You can connect it to Alexa but the dot can't show you the camera |
Question: | Does this item notify you when your alarm is also tripped or activated |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this eork with the 2020 release |
Answer: | Yes you can but it goes on top of the corner kit and it looks kind of bulky. |
Question: | Can you extend the wire using something like door bell wire/ethernet wire.? I need more then 20ft |
Answer: | This is mounted first and Ring mounts to it. So unless you’ve already mounted the Ring to the wall somewhere, there should be no extra holes. If there is a need to remount your ring, this is slightly bigger than the ring and would fit over where you previously made holes. In this case there would be extra holes but not seen |
Question: | Does this work with a Ring 3 plus |
Answer: | My Doorbell 3 faces west and gets about 6 hours of indirect sun and about 12 hits a day and battery has never dipped below 85% and at the end of the day is usually at 89-90% |
Question: | Will this work with Ring 2 Doorbell |
Answer: | We have this same ring set up for 6 months and the solar panel has received direct sunlight for 6-8 a day and has not charged the unit. As we have moved into shorter days and less sunlight I can only depend on my Ring door bell for 3 weeks then I must remove it and charge it for 24 hours. I wish I had returned the solar panels. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it 1080 P HD |
Answer: | Yes and the field of view is awesome. I can see from the left to the right side of my porch and even to the neighbors houses across the road. It's all crystal clear. |
Question: | Do i need to buy a monitoring plan to record |
Answer: | If you use Wireshark to monitor the camera IP Traffic you will see that the camera utilizes the Real Time Protocol (RTP). Video is encoded as unencrypted H.264 traffic and audio is G.711. The MAC address can be determined from the captured traffic and also on the Ring App. Armed with this information and a little knowledge on setting up a route on your PC, the video can easily be captured to a local video monitoring App |
Question: | How long do the rechargeable batteries last |
Answer: | It says it lasts for 1000 notifications so it depends on how much motion is detected. We’ve had ours for probably three months and the battery is at 83% still. We have amazon deliveries a lot and it detects every time we drive past it in and out of the driveway. So it gets set off a lot. |
Question: | Does it have Knight vision |
Answer: | He is worried Suge Knight will come and steal the rights to his catalog of rap songs. I bet Vanilla Ice wishes his hotel room had a video doorbell with knight vision. But don’t worry buddy, suge knights in prison atm. Your safe. For now. |

Question: | Every video/review I have read shows the camera pointed straight ahead. There doesn't appear to be much left/right adjustment. How much |
Answer: | I don't understand why the seller can't answer a simple yes or no question about whether this has LED lights in it. Deceptive answers like that one they provided makes me wonder if I should keep looking for a different security camera? |
Question: | Can the flood light bulbs be changed out when they burn out |
Answer: | Requires the mini sd card |

User questions & answers
Question: | If my WiFi goes down, will the system still work for live viewing? Maybe not record, but will it still activate with motion and send alerts for veiw |
Answer: | No, it won’t record anything if your WiFi goes down. It seems to me they could have added a small amount of internal storage for such events. However, I believe they want you to purchase the subscription service - without which many of the features of the device are useless. |
Question: | What is the only difference between the ring 3 and the ring 3 plus |
Answer: | Hello, Great question! The only difference between the Ring Video Doorbell 3 and 3 Plus is the Pre-Roll feature. Pre-Roll is only available on the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus. This feature allows you to see an additional four seconds of video before the motion event was even triggered. This is a first-to-market feature for battery-powered doorbells and unique exclusively to Ring. Pre-Roll video is in black and white and in low resolution to conserve battery life. Question: | Can u hard wire this and not use a battery |
Answer: | Hi, The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is powered by a removable, rechargeable battery. User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a added cost to use this item |
Answer: | Yes, you can purchase, “ Premium Service “, which is about $30.00/ year.( I do have it). You can make settings with a Premium that will remind you ,that you left something behind,(via cell text). Premium will also show you a map of where the last place your item was while you were last in range of it. You can then go to that area and hope your back in range of it’s Bluetooth and Find it! For $30./ year, if it helps me find just one item that got lost,(and had a Tile ), It would be worth every penny. |
Question: | Can I use the tile to locate the septic tank in a home |
Answer: | Hello there, That's a great question and definitely a rare one! Now locating the septic tank could be a bit tricky. A few variables could affect the Bluetooth connection as well as the water resistance. With the Tle Pro 2020 just being water resistant, the possibility of it taking in liquid is likely. If you were to attempt using Tile to track it, the best option would be a Tile Sticker due to its size and waterproof rating. You can find out more about Sticker by visiting the following link: https://tileteam.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360036881673 Tile uses Bluetooth to keep track of your things, so it can find something that is within up to a 150 ft range(400 for the Tile Pro!). It's important to note that while Tile has the ability to reliably track personal belongings, it wasn't specifically designed for locating septic tanks underground. I hope this helps! All the best, DF |
Question: | If I get a 4 pack, can I give them to people in 4 different households |
Answer: | Hi there, That's an interesting question! If you mean, you'd be purchasing a 4-pack of tiles then each person creating their own Tile account and activating the Tile you gifted -- Sure can! Once they've created their own account they can refer to the following link on adding the Tile to their account: https://tileteam.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/215238618. Hope that helps! All the best, DF |
Question: | Is there any warning that your battery is getting low on the Tile Pro |
Answer: | Nope. If you don't check them frequently you'll only find out your batteries are low when the app tells you the item hasn't checked in for a few days/weeks. That's the achilles heel for these things. When you actually lose something and need to use the app to find it- then it will tell you the batteries are dead. I'm buying a new set of keys and key fob today for my car because the battery died and I didn't realize it until my keys were lost. I paid for the 'premium' version to see my tracking history and looks like the battery has been dead for a month. I would have really liked a warning that the battery was low before then. I then found out 4 of my other tiles have dead batteries, but the battery replacement service is based on time and not actual battery life so I had to replace all those batteries on my own even when paying for the premium service. So unless you're checking the battery yourself every day you're out of luck when the battery dies. I bought 8 tiles total last year, pro and regular and only half of the batteries lasted a full year. I would replace them every 6 months on a high value item like car keys. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are you able to turn off the spotlight and just use the infrared |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Can the cable pass through the top of the window? I have a nest like that now as the power cable is flat |
Answer: | The 20' long cable is round, about the thickness of a standard ball point pen (about 7/16 inch or 1 cm), and the plug at the end is just as one would get on a power tool or heavy duty extension cord. If you were to open your window, pass the plug and cord through, then try to close the window down on the cord, there would be a definite GAP where air/rain would come through. I would NOT recommend this. If possible, you may consider running the cord up your exterior wall to your roof soffit, and power it through your attic. You can use an extension cord on it as well, just make sure it's not accessible to anyone who would want to disable your cameras. I have learned that the RING app does NOT inform you if power has been lost the camera, so the burglar could just unplug it, rob you, and you'd not know until you checked the camera feed or came home.... If you're plugging it into an exterior outlet within reach of bag guys, consider replacing the outlet cover with a locking one so they can't unplug it. |
Question: | will ggmm es5 battery base help if I want to use my show5 when unplugged |
Answer: | of course, that is exactly why I bought it |
Question: | How long do the batteries last |
Answer: | I installed mine May 26th above the garage of our new house. Checking live view a couple times a day and having the motion on 24/7, the battery died on June 15th. Three full weeks with heavy use. I just recharged the battery plus added a second one. I’ll give an update on how long these last. |
