User questions & answers
Question: | Can i connect this camera to my computer with a usb |
Answer: | I have just purchased two of these (Elph 180). The first thing I noticed is that Canon has not improved the access door (battery/ sd card slot) in the many years since I had my first point& shoot Canon. (I have a canon rebel too - different story) The reason I am telling you this is that I urge you to buy a cable to download your shots, and clear the SD card from your camera. Every time you open and shut this little door, the weaker it becomes. Eventually you will be forced to tape the door shut to use the camera. I did this for years because I loved the camera. Finally I just got tired of it and bought the rebel. If the only time you have to open the door is to charge the battery, you will extend the usable life of the door HUGELY. As with most technology today, it's longevity depends on its weakest point. One of the two I purchased is for a 12 yr. old - I bought cables for both of us. My opinion: It's worth it because Canon still makes the best lenses. |
Question: | Does this have an automatic shutoff If I forget to turn it off |
Answer: | I don`t think so. But you`ll know if it`s on. When it`s on, the lens moves way out. When it`s off, it retracts, so the camera is flat. It would be very hard to forget to turn the camera off, or forget you left it on. |
Question: | Do you have to remove the battery from the camera in order to charge it |
Answer: | Does this camera come with a charger? It says it comes with a rechargeable battery but it isn’t saying anything about a charger. And from looking at other people’s comments I’m thinking it doesn’t come with a charger. So if not then what are you suppose to do cause it’s not regular batteries it’s the rectangle flat battery |
Question: | I notice the usb cable has to be purchased separately. does this camera require any special type of usb cable |
Answer: | The camera uses sd memory, so you dont need usb cable if your computer has a sd slot |

User questions & answers
Question: | Saludos. Esta cámara tiene entrada de audio |
Answer: | I just bought the RP, love it. Yes, you can use Canon EF-S lenses with one of the 3 optional EF adapters. But note that EF-S lenses are made for smaller APS-C sized sensors (the RP is a full-frame 24x36mm sensor) so it will give you only 10.1 mp images with EF-S lenses. Why: it just crops out the unused area around your EF-S APS-C-sized images. For some native Canon lenses, it will choose this smaller 10.1mp crop size automatically. For non-Canon lenses, you can choose "1.6x crop." I tested this with two of my old Sigma APS-C lenses (ancient c. 2009 10-20mm and 18-200mm zooms) and autofocus and image stabilization do work great with the RP. if you want 24mp images with your old lenses, keep your 6ti (a great lightweight backup camera). Hope that helps, happy shooting whatever you end up using! |
Question: | I heard that af is really bad in 4k can you manually focus? and i heard the crop is extreme is it usable |
Answer: | During pre-order the adapter and grip were for free, right know you need to pay them. |
Question: | Will this work with my canon ef 50mm f/1.8 stm lens? and is this camera good for portraits |
Answer: | Yes. All video is cropped to some extent because it is in a different aspect ratio. In addition, the 4K doesn't use the full width of the sensor. This is really more of a camera for stills shooters. The video is more of an extra feature. |
Question: | Is this the best 4K camera for now? Also, why is it cheap |
Answer: | I just got the RP and Dennis explains the EF-S limitations perfectly. Two notes to add: 1) The result of this cropping is that your image size with EF-S (APS-C) lenses will be only ~10.1 megapixels (less than a modern smartphone camera or the old 2003 Canon 10D!). 2) With my old 2009 Sigma "DC" mount lenses (Sigma's designation for EF-S/APS-C compatible lenses), the RP will not automatically choose "1.6x crop," so I have to do it manually (it's an option in the "image format/aspect-ratio" menu). Otherwise, I do get the black vignetting around the image. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How it’s shutter sound can be disabled |
Answer: | YES, the Camera Sounds can be modified under the Menu Section. |
Question: | Is it easy to change the iso level in the p mode ? usually i shoot in automatic, but also like to change iso , real basic stuff |
Answer: | Yes it’s very easy. |
Question: | Can this camera shoot in raw format |
Answer: | No, and the JPEG photo quality is that of iPhone 5s. Consider Panasonic LX20. Far better for $300 more. Even challenges Sony RX100 V, which is fragile lens design. LX20 and this Canon are better built. |
Question: | Would this be a good camera to use for concerts in low light |
Answer: | I bought the Canon G7X in 2015 because I wanted a point and shoot that was good in low light situations. The ISO goes up to 12800. The G7X is wonderful! I've used it in concerts and also numerous times for shows in the main theatre on cruises. My friends told me I couldn't take photos as flash was not allowed-no problem with my camera. Photos turned out great! There are newer versions now to the G7X. I've been happy with mine-worth the money. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone tried using canon ef-s lenses with the mount adapter and what results did you have |
Answer: | Yes EF-S works on it. Putting an EF-S lens on means it’s no longer full frame though. It will automatically crop in 1.6x (from full frame, so it will still feel like the 35 you’re used to). Doable, but far from optimal performance of the EOS R’s sensor. |
Question: | Does this lens work without the adapter? An adapter doesn't seem to be included but yet I would think it would need one in the "kit |
Answer: | If it is a RF lens, you don’t need a adapter. If it is a ef lens then yes you will need a adapter for it to work |
Question: | Why don’t u have 5 monthly installment for this Canon R |
Answer: | Like JG went worth, they need there cash now!!! |
Question: | Will this work in New Jersey |
Answer: | No the hair gel will jam Up the shutter |

User questions & answers
Question: | I will have to obtain a replacement for my beloved 50D. I am guessing that the batteries will not work with the 90D, but what about the lenses |
Answer: | Battery - 50D does not use the same battery. It uses the BP-511A, and the 90D uses the LP-E6N. Several models do use the LP-E6N, but I think in the APS-C line it's the 70D and up. For lenses - All EF and EF-S lenses will work on the 90D, same as the 50D. Anything that worked on the 50D will also work on the 90D. Some of the older lenses, mostly cheaper zooms, don't really look very good on the 32mp sensor, due to the high pixel density. If you would like more information about the 90D, you should check out the review on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and has comparisons to several other cameras for reference. There are also sample images taken with the camera. Be sure to check the comment section for an update to the review that Amazon will not allow me to post, for some unknown reason. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1K36NNGFV9ZCU/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B07WFQYDD5 |
Question: | What type of tether cable can I use on the 90D the usb with not fit my older cable |
Answer: | It uses micro USB. Any micro USB cable is fine, it doesn't have to be a Canon cable. You phone may have come with one, depending on how old it is. One caveat, not all of these cables are made for data transfer. Sometimes cables that are included with electronic devices that are meant to be used to charge with, they do not have the connectors to use for data transfer. Be sure that it is a data transfer cable. If nothing else, they are fairly inexpensive cables, you could just buy one. Simply type "Micro USB cable" into the search and it will come up. The amazon basics will work fine. If you would like more info about the 90D, you should check out the review I have for the camera on my profile. Question: | How do l find out where this is shipped from |
Answer: | You can find the info about the seller under the "Add to Cart" and "Buy Now" buttons. If it is Amazon, then it will be from the nearest Amazon warehouse. If from an independent seller, then you would need to seek them out and ask them. If you would like to have more info about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. Question: | Is this a full-size sensor or cropped |
Answer: | Crop sensor, 1.6x crop. If you would like more information about the 90D, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has comparisons to other similar Canon models like the M6mkII, T7i/77D, 80D, and the 7DmkII. User questions & answers
Question: | Is this camera have touch screen |
Answer: | 2 lenses. It's a great starter kit. |
Question: | Does this camera have a built in flash |
Answer: | It does a decent zoom, but if you want true zoom in or out, I suggest another lens. I only use mine for family photos, etc, and outings, but I may invest in another lens for close and father shots. I have a hummingbird nest on my patio, and I find the basic lens doesn't quite do the job of catching the tiny egg and details, and for distance it only goes so far. |
Question: | Does this bundle come with an around the neck strap |
Answer: | Hello Yes you can shoot raw with this camera. Thanks Brendan The Photo Center |
Question: | Does this camera record for YouTube |
Answer: | Some people consider the D3400 a better camera than the D3500 due to the elimination of the "Function" button on the front of the camera that was accessible with the photographer's left hand that allows the ISO setting to be changer with the right thumb wheel while looking through the viewfinder. Also the IR remote shutter control was eliminated. I believe from what I read that all this was done to reduce the size (the body is the same as the D5600) and weight of the camera, improve battery life, and reduce manufacturing cost. Nikon does have a free app for your smart phone, SnapBridge App, that allows your smart phone to act as a remote shutter control and can automatically send your pictures (reduced resolution) to your smart phone. So to answer your question - I don't believe the the D3500 is an upgrade or a downgrade to the D3400 just the next in their line of "Beginner" DSLR Cameras. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i backup to pc using usb cable? do i need dedicated cable? tried others since none was included with camera and they didn't work |
Answer: | Thank you for your time. You can use a USB cable to download the images to your computer. Please use a USB cable equipped with a Micro-B plug for connecting to the camera and a Type-A plug for connecting to the computer.* A genuine Canon accessory is also available (Interface Cable IFC-600PCU). |
Question: | Does it take batteries |
Answer: | It takes one Canon battery that comes with the camera as well as a battery charger. |
Question: | What is the most negative thing about this camera |
Answer: | I honestly can't think of anything. It's small and lightweight, fits in a pocket. Takes gorgeous photos and really nice video. Only thing I can think is that you will need a decent sized storage card so that's an investment, but not a big deal. Also highly, highly recommend buying an extra battery. Again an investment but so worth it. We took this camera on a trip of a lifetime to Alaska and the photos are so great; video too...love the special effects setting. Makes me look like a pro photographer! |
Question: | Are the camera dimensions correct? 2.3 inches x 6.3 inches x 5.7 inches. It doesn't look like it would be that large |
Answer: | It is not. I raised this very question when trying to decide what camera to buy. Why they would list the length at 5.7 inches is a mystery. That would make the stupid thing HUGE! Anyway, the ACTUAL dimensions are (in inches): 2.25 x 1.0 (excluding extended lens) x 3.75. I know these dimensions are accurate, because I'm sitting here with the camera in my hands, and I just measured with a ruler! Haven't had it long, but it seems like a great little camera so far. Takes really nice images. One caveat: The camera does NOT come with any kind of connector cable (apparently, the assumption is that you'll use Wi-Fi exclusively to move pix around), so if you want to go USB (or HTML) you'll need to buy the appropriate wire.Hope this helps. |
