User questions & answers
Question: | Can this selectror control volume |
Answer: | Hi, Each speaker will have its own volume control independently. Will ship right away. Please order. Thanks. |
Question: | Is this speaker switch temperature sensitive i.e. can I set one up in my attic and would possible temperature fluctuations affect its functionality |
Answer: | The unit isn't much more than switches and potentiometers, so I don't think it would be sensitive to ambient temperature unless the temperatures encountered were EXTREME. As the other reviewer noted, your primary concern with an attic set-up would be accessibility. The whole point of the selector is to control a distributed audio system, so if you couldn't get to it easily it would be a waste of effort. I am very pleased with my selector. It works as advertised in my system and has never given me any trouble. |
Question: | I have receiver ( sony strdh750 7.2 channel 4k av receiver) by what channel should i go to this speaker selector, i have center, front a, etc |
Answer: | Hi,Unless you have speaker A and B selection on your Sony. Otherwise i wouldn't suggest you taking the main channel to speaker switcher. Thx. |
Question: | Could this be used for 3 different speaker zones inside and 3 more outside with volume control for each zone? Using a Sonos amp |
Answer: | I have to disagree with this answer. I have two of these units and they do control 6 pairs of speakers, this equals 12 total, not 6. Again the Niles SSVC 6 will control 12 speakers in pairs of two for right and left channel. It does have volume control as well as on/off control for each of the 6 pairs. This unit includes labels for each zone. It does send equal signal to each speaker set to balance out the ohm load on your amp or receiver to prevent over load. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this model handle 8-ohm speakers? Niles' website states that 4-ohm speakers should be used |
Answer: | i used 8 ohm speakers. didn't realize there was a recommendation. |
Question: | Could I run 5 surround sound speakers from my living room plus 4-6 other speakers throughout the house through this selector and my receiver |
Answer: | If you are talking about using the Zone 2 on your receiver to power 4-6 other speakers you could but it would not be the best thing to do. one thing you have to make sure is that your speakers all have the same Ohm rating and that your receiver is capable with that that certain resistance. You would probably be safe with running 2 pairs of speakers but I would definitely not do 3 pairs. I would look into a 4 zone amplifier for that. Hope this helps! |
Question: | I have a sonos amp and 8 ceiling speakers. Dont know the ohms of the speaker. Will this work |
Answer: | It should work, range of ohms for niles 2-16 ohms it will match your 4 sets of speakers fine. |
Question: | How does it connect from the receiver if your "outs" are only plugs |
Answer: | The plugs (1-zone Each) have (4-each) set-screws with holes for 2 Pos & 2 Neg each speaker wires from receiver, or Amp SPEAKER output |

User questions & answers
Question: | My amplifier is capable of one pair of 4 ohms load. Can I use this to connect 2 pairs of speakers, each pair are 4 ohms load |
Answer: | No |
Question: | watts per channel handling.—Does this mean the input can only be 100 watts or that her output can be 100 watts per channel from 400 watt source |
Answer: | It means that the maximum input can be 100 watts per channel. Now if you have a 400 watt amplifier, it can still work as long as you don't crank it up past 100 watts output. |
Question: | I have a receiver Denon E400 that has 175W per channel, worked well with these speaker selector |
Answer: | What matters is the impedance. Most Amps are 8 ohm as are speakers. When you hook multiple speakers in parallel the impedance goes down. The selector ensures that the impedance is at least 4 ohms even when as many as eight speakers are hooked in parallel (and would otherwise present 1 ohm of impedance). On my Yamaha receiver there is a switch that allows for a 4 ohm load and that is the key. You can probably run a 4 ohm load from an 8 ohm driver, it just means that more energy is dissipated in the amp than in the speakers but hopefully not so much as to do damage |
Question: | Can I control volumes on two different speakers independently with this device |
Answer: | No, there's no volumes controller on this device. You need a controller like ''Niles VCS100R White FG00956 100 Watt InWall Volume Control " (http://www.amazon.com/Niles-VCS100R-White-FG00956-Control/dp/B0001W1I58/ref=pd_sim_e_3) for each pair of speakers. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a pair of 8-ohm (advent) and a pair of 4-ohm (ads) speakers. can i play both of them concurrently through my relatively new yamaha amp |
Answer: | I am not sure what your question is. The input for this switch is your amplifier whose output is 8 ohms. You can connect a set of 4 ohm speakers to be controlled by the switch-gear. The switch-gear will always be sure that the amplifier never experiences anything greater than an 8 ohm load. This is very important as you would burn out your amplifier. I have a pair of Bose 4 ohm, a pair of Marantz Imperial 7, 8 ohm and a Yamaha speaker bar all powered from one channel of my amplifier. If you are in doubt about what your amplifier and switch-gear can handle, contact the technical help line for Niles (800-289-4434.) I did speak with their technical rep prior to connecting my reference quality amplifier to ensure that no harm would be done. Better yet, you can download the manual as it explains amplifier load factors. In my opinion, this is the best speaker selector. |
Question: | Can I connect a pair of 4-ohm and a pair of 8-ohm speakers |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | My yamaha receiver has a&b connections. can i run one set of speakers to a and niles to b and listen to 3 sets of speakers at the same time |
Answer: | Waqar,The dimensions of the products are as follows: 17"W x 2-1/16"H x 8-5/8"DYou can assume there will be 1"-2" of packaging materials and original display box.I hope this information helps!Mark P.iElectronics |
Question: | what is the best amp to get for this product? I know it has to be at least a 4ohm |
Answer: | They’re small little inset screws that probably aren’t too hard to find. I didn’t have too much trouble with the screw stripping but more difficulty getting enough bite to hold the wires securely. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this switch 4 amps into one set of speakers |
Answer: | I just finished install of mine to switch between a Rogue tube amp and my Denon AVR. I cannot tell any degradation in sound quality. I used the largest wire that would insert into the terminal strip of the switch and kept the wiring as short as possible I routed the wire through a speaker switch as well so I could use heavier speaker wire and bi-wire to my Vandersteen speakers. The terminal strip on the switch would not have accommodated the wiring I currently used with the speakers. |
Question: | I notice it mention's having seperate "ground paths". My question is will this work properly with a fully balanced amplifier? Both + and - active |
Answer: | Use pin style plugs. Search for the product in Amazon, see example below. 4 pins total Hi-end Copper Speaker Plugs / Pin Screw Type Plug with Heat Shrink Tubing Wv-spcpps2 Conwork 4-Pair 2mm Banana Plug Screw Type Audio Speaker Cable Connector Copper Gold Plated |
Question: | what is the shipping carton dimensions |
Answer: | There may be some bleed thru of current but, it is minimal and should not damage your amp. I use this unit with a 250 watt solid state amp and a tube amp. |

Question: | Can this switch be run "in reverse"? (four amplifiers to one pair of speakers by being careful to have only one circuit at a time "on |
Answer: | That sounds kind of sketchy I would not try it. Running this in reverse is not worth the damage it may cause. |
Question: | How does this nile compare to osd for the same item |
Answer: | What do you mean by osd? |
Question: | Can I stack my Yamaha 6750 amp/receiver on top of this speaker selector |
Answer: | Yes, but it will get a little warm. I originally put the speaker selector on top of the receiver and that was worse - the receiver would shut down after about 5 minutes.I now have the speaker selector on a separate shelf with my DVD player on top of it. |
Question: | The description says black, but the pic is grey. so what is it |
Answer: | This picture is badly shot. The unit is Black. |

Question: | How do I used the 1x,4x8x switch on the side of this thing? I am hooking up 5 pairs of 8ohm speakers to the receiver |
Answer: | Two individual speakers, not two sets of stereo speakers. Bummer. |
Question: | When I have the volume turned down very low, I can hear distorted music/popping coming from this module inside of the wall. Is this normal |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you tell me what the warranty is on this product |
Answer: | This is just a simple switch - there are no delay elements in it. If you are experiencing echo, reverb, or feedback, the problem must be somewhere else in your setup. |
Question: | Can I connect this to my receiver via bluetooth |
Answer: | This won’t do what you’re trying to accomplish. This is a brilliant, yet simple, A/B switch. I use A for my PC audio out and B for my cell audio out to one set of headphones. |
Question: | what is the maximum continuous amplifier power for which this product is compatible? The SSVC6 says 300W, but I can't find a spec for this one. THXS |
Answer: | Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: You had me curious as to the answer, so I just hooked mine up the way you describe. I connected one PC going INTO the front headphones-out port, and another PC going INTO the speaker-out in the rear. Then I hooked up my speakers to INPUT B, and my headphones to INPUT A. That turned the A/B switch into an output selector and the front switch into an input selector. Everything worked fine, but for the completeness of the answer, I have to point out that the first time I connected things this way I got a 60Hz hum in my speakers, but disconnecting and reconnecting fixed that problem. I tested the speaker, volume, mic, and mute functionality, and they all worked well. Again, for the completeness of this answer, if I connect my Dell G7 laptop to a Type-C docking station (handling the audio, too), and the docking station connects to the Nobsound, and my headphones (with mic) are plugged into the Nobsound's headphones-out, then the laptop doesn't detect my headphones' mic. But that doesn't really bear on the answer you are looking for ( it's probably just a config I haven't sussed out yet); it's just something to be aware of. |
Question: | What do I need to look for in a receiver to pair with this volume control selectors |
Answer: | While you can connect up to four pairs of speakers, this device will not work as a surround sound device like having front, rear, center channels like a Dolby or DTS system. This only splits a stereo signal to multiple pairs of the same exact stereo signal.Hopefully this helps. |

Question: | Is this rack mountable |
Answer: | Hi, no it is not mountable. However, you may customize your own rackmount. Thank you. |
Question: | can I use this amp with my sony str 1030 reciever to add additional power |
Answer: | This is not an amp. It takes an output to speakers and can run different sets of speakers. If you do not have enough power in your receiver to run the speakers it will not work. Each time you turn on a set of speakers it will drop the power by a percentage. Some receivers can not handle more then three sets. |
Question: | Can one of the zones I hook to be a powered subwoofer (which itself feeds a pair of small speakers |
Answer: | No you cannot hook up a powered sub woofer to a speaker selector |
Question: | Will this work with an old devon dra 35v receiver from the mid 80s? i have 4 pairs of speakers and might need to use at least three pairs at a time |
Answer: | I do not recognize the Receiver you are referring to but the connections are very simple. The speaker wires that are driving your speakers will be shortened and then connected to the Pyle Home speaker selector. Then your speakers will be connected to the Pyle Home speaker selector to each of the different four zones that you have in your home/office/whatever. I am presently driving three pairs of speakers with one zone unused. I have had perfect performance. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I want to use this on two sets of speakers, one set for front height & second set for side surrounds and switch between the two. Is it possible |
Answer: | I have speakers throughout my house. The Pyle Six-zone box allows me to have music in most every room. Hook each speaker you have to the Pyle and hook the Pyle to your receiver, speaker A or B. I have mine on B. Connect your receiver audio to your TV audio. There is a separate button on the Pyle that you should always keep positioned to on (button in). That is the easiest I can make it for you. This box works perfect for me and has never shut off. Good luck to you. |
Question: | Does this switch allow me to control sets of speakers independently |
Answer: | I am running an older Technics amp 2x100 6 pairs of speakers at times so I would say yes. Just remember you are putting this amp to a lot of work if you're running 6 pairs of speakers so watch the temps on the amp. |
Question: | One person indicated what they believed the protection button was. Does anybody know? Pyle technical support apparently doesn't exist |
Answer: | Maybe. The more speakers that you connect the lower their effective impedance as seen by the amplifier. And the lower the effective impedance the higher the current that the amplifier must generate in order to drive the speakers to a specific listening level without distortion. Most speakers, particularly the less costly ones, have a nominal 8 ohm impedance. So if you are driving one set of such speakers the amplifier will be seeing an 8 ohm load. But if your amplifier is driving 2 sets of such speakers the amplifier will be seeing 1/(1/8 + 1/8) = a 4 ohm load; if your amplifier is driving 3 sets of such speakers the amplifier will be seeing a 1/(1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8) = 2.7 ohm load, etc. With 6 speakers your amplifier will be seeing a 1.3 ohm load. And this would be a nominal and typically maximum load; in practice the load fluctuates depending on frequency and is effectively lower for short periods of time. Some amplifiers are designed to drive such low loads but many are not. If you try to do that with such a low current amplifier for a long period of time you will burn up the amplifier. That is why speaker selectors like this one have a protection button which basically adds a resistance in series with the speakers in order to increase the impedance seen by the amplifier. This will reduce the overall efficiency and you will notice that you have to increase the volume to get the same amount of sound as with the protection button off.So, if your amplifier has a sufficient current capability to drive those 6 speakers to your desired listening levels, great. If it doesn't, and if the listening level is too low for your tastes with the protection button on, you will need to either settle for lower volume or get a more powerful amplifier. |
Question: | How do I hook this up to my 5.1 receiver |

Question: | Can i use this to combine zones for a 2003 nuvo distribution amplifier (nv-e6m? the nuvo only has 12 zones and i have more than that in the home |
Answer: | It's a pair |
Question: | Can I connect use inwall volume switch with this |
Answer: | You can't do it by just plugging them to the Audio. These speakers require a power amp of sorts and the Audio out of a TV just provides signal to and Amplifier. You could by acquiring an Amplifier/ plugging the TV into the Amplifier, then running the Speaker output to these speakers. |
