User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone compare this Amplied antenna to AmazonBasics Extreme Performance Ultra Thin Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna in term of reception and range
Answer: Update, April 2018. Newer design Clearstream Eclipse is sig better & just a little pricer, If passive works best for you. I live semi-rural 25miles West of Detriot. Have tried many major brand indoor antennas, Mohu Leaf, Wineguard, AmazonBasics, 1byOne, etc. After fresh channel scan, Eclipse took me from 18 channels (22 depending on weather & season) to very clear 28 channels!
Question: Can the Wineguard FL5500A antenna be used without power amplifier Hooked up
Answer: I have had this 2 years now and love it. I found hooking it up to power BEFORE the splitter coming into the house made all the difference. Hooking the power adapter inside house right before hooking into tv did not well at all. I would get 1 channel. With power adapter outside before my house splitter I pick up 60 channels.
Question: I have a tv that doesnt have a usb connection. How can I use these antennas
Answer: The antenna connects to the tv using the same type of connection as a cable wire, so a usb is not needed. If you are replacing cable with the antenna, you can actually use the cable wiring in your house to connect all of your tv's to one antenna. Put the antenna in the room at the highest point in the house. Get a 2 way cable splitter. One end goes to the tv in that room. The other end connects to the existing cable wire. Follow the existing cable wire to your basement or wherever the cable comes in to the house. Get a 5 way splitter (for up to 4 tv's). Connect the cable coming from the room with the antenna to the input of the 5 way splitter. Connect all of your other tv cables to the outputs of the 5 way splitter. You will then just need to change each tv to use air instead of cable. Be sure to buy quality splitters with gold ends.
Question: is this antenna made in america
Answer: Will this antenna work if I am 40 miles from the broadcast town.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this antenna be used in Canada? I'm about 100km from Plattsbourgh
Answer: Hello, You can use the SDSB80111 for single phase 3 wire applications rated for 120/240VAC. Regards, Schneider Electric Customer Care.
Question: Would mounting this in an attic with an insulated roof greatly impair the signal it receives
Answer: 80,000 according to their spec sheet
Question: I live in a small house and am thinkin on going with the WE7550A . 40 miles closest tower, rolling hills, etc. 3 tvs 20' apart. additional amp needed
Answer: Yes easy to install. You just need to mount the item to an appropriate surface, make sure the power is off before opening the service panel, and then correctly connect the wires to a double pole 20AMP breaker, as well as secure the ground wire to the grounding bus. Call a licensed electrician if you are unsure.
Question: Is the elite 7550 antenna atsc 3.0 capable and ready for the new fcc transition for the final phase of july
Answer: If one or two LEDs are out that indicates the breaker is no longer working and the circuits they supply must not be hot (useable). Check the two breakers with a voltage tester to be sure. Being in service for 12 years circuits may have seen the voltage spike and tripped the breaker. If they had been installed properly these two circuits would have fed voltage/current to circuits that were in use.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this antenna be used with an older TV that needs an OTA translator box
Answer: I assume that it will, there is no reason that it shouldn`t. But you are missing out on a free HD signal that your antenna . I recently purchased a flat screen HD tv at a pawn shop for less that $100.
Question: Does it receive both Low and High VHV channels
Answer: The Winegard FL6550A is for UHF and high-band VHF channels 7-13 only. The H-VHF spec is listed on the Winegard web page at www.winegard.com/flatwave (and confirmed by Jim Chase at Winegard). But it's listed virtually nowhere else and it's too bad because it would save some folks from being disappointed in low-band VHF performance.
Question: If I mounted this only 6' above ground what reception could I get? I can't go higher because of Housing Association rules
Answer: According to the FCC, your HOA cannot prevent you from mounting an antenna on your roof. The rule (47 C.F.R. Section 1.4000) has been in effect since October 1996, and it prohibits restrictions that impair the installation, maintenance or use of antennas used to receive video programming. The rule applies to video antennas including direct-to-home satellite dishes that are less than one meter (39.37″) in diameter (or of any size in Alaska), TV antennas, and wireless cable antennas. The rule prohibits most restrictions that: (1) unreasonably delay or prevent installation, maintenance or use; (2) unreasonably increase the cost of installation, maintenance or use; or (3) preclude reception of an acceptable quality signal. Many HOA's continue to try to restrict you, but they are wrong. Property owners can restrict renters from putting up antennas, but as long as it's your property where you are mounting it, the HOA can't prevent you.
Question: I don't have an electrical outlet any where by the roof where I would have to mount it, any solutions
Answer: The electrical part of this antenna connects to where your main outside cable wire comes into the house. For example, my main cable is in the attic which is where the cable from the antenna comes in. So, I added a plug in the attic from my pull chain light that was already there. If you don't have an attic light you could find an electric junction box and cut in a plug. Or, if your main connection is outside you might just run an outside extension cord. I am not an electrician but I can tell you this antenna works great and save me a ton of money from paying cable fees and all the channels are in hi def and very clear. I am 45 miles from tv stations in Orlando, FL. Hope this helps.

User questions & answers

Question: Another question for the people using the sensar IV in their homes. What power supply did you use? I am afraid of over amping it. What amp fuse? Thx
Answer: The Rayzar z1 is an amplified antenna. The amplifier is in the antenna head itself, and it comes with a power supply wall plate that needs to be installed to power that internal amplifier.
Question: Already have one ,do I have to replace the mounting or just the head ? Tks
Answer: The narrow point of the antenna with the elements is the front of the antenna, that is what you need to point at the broadcast towers.
Question: Is this a complete system? Doess it come with hadle, gears, shaft to turn tge gears etc
Answer: It is an amplified antenna requires 120v to get long range signal. You may pick up some close broadcasting antennas but doubt they would work long
Question: Can i replace a sensar iii with this and not replace the base? just the tubes and top part on my iii were ripped off
Answer: The Rayzar z1 has a max range of 50 miles.

User questions & answers

Question: what is the rod dimension; 1" or
Answer: 1.66" OD (outside dimension), which is ironically the size of what is called 1 1/4" pipe.
Question: What diameter is the pole
Answer: The winegard has a 1 1/2 " inside diameter and 1 5/8 " outside diameter, but the antenna itself has a 1 " diameter, total mismatch.
Question: I need to go 18" out from wall to get past gutter. What is the total offset clearance from wall mount bracket to the vertical extension
Answer: I purchased and measured this myself and got 23.5” of offset clearance from the wall to the vertical extension. My gutters and eaves also require 18” of clearance to get past the gutters and the 39” DS-3000 easily gets past that.
Question: this universal mount has a 1 1/2" tube. The TV antenna is designed for a 1" ID tube. How do I put the two together? I expected that I could mount my antenna directly to this "Universal Mount
Answer: What I did was go to Home Depot and buy a threaded 1" O.D. pipe. I also got an adapter there that steps the 1" up to 1 1/8" or 1/14"...either is okay. I then bought a rubber union with two hose clamps attached to it. I inserted the 1" pipe into the adapter, and the adapter into the rubber union. I fastened one clamp on the adapter, the other end onto the 1+1/2" antenna mast. I bought silver paint to match the mast and the parts....and the black rubber union. Paited it all, hooked the antenna up to the 1" pipe...Voila...done!

User questions & answers

Question: I have a 1997 hilo camper with winegard antenna, can i replace the head on old one and use this head on old crank up pole
Answer: No... it connect to the Tube U.
Question: Is this antenna roof mounted on rv
Answer: 30days...
Question: I have a 2017 gulfstream 18ft. How do i know if this will fit my camper
Answer: Yes it is weatherproof, the plastic side is to be aimed at the signal source. Thank you
Question: I have a 2015 heartland cyclone with a signal commander by antennatek antenna and booster. It looks winegaurd knock-off. Will your head fit
Answer: Yes. The linking cable is included. There might be situations where you may need additional lengths, but you can cross that bridge when you come to it.One suggestion I WOULD make is to be sure that you get the STAND. You want your dish UP off of the ground. It rains, the grass is mowed, the wind blows the dust around and you don't want your not inexpensive dish down on the ground absorbing all of that stuff. Just saying......

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What capabilities does the Sensar IV have?

A: The Sensar IV is a VHF/UHF antenna allowing you to watch the top rated shows for free in your RV at maximum range.

Q. How is the Sensar IV installed?

A: The Sensar IV is permanently mounted to the roof of your RV. Instructions are included for the installation of the roof unit and the inside wall plate.

Q. Is the Sensar IV compatible with the SensarPro signal meter?

A: Yes – the Sensar IV is compatible with the SensarPro signal meter. The SensarPro provides detailed feedback on the signals the antenna is receiving and allows users to add or decrease amplification to best suit their location for maximum performance.

Q. What channels can the Sensar IV receive?

A: The Sensar IV antenna can receive programming from the major local broadcast networks (e.g. ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS) plus additional networks (Qubo, ION, The CW, This TV, MyNetworkTV, Azteca, Telefutura, Univision, and Telemundo). The Sensar IV antenna can also receive local news, weather and educational programs that satellite and cable don’t offer. Availability may vary based on location and distance from the broadcast tower.

Q. Does the Sensar IV antenna work with any TV?

A: The Sensar IV works with any TV or device that has an ATSC tuner. Devices that may have built-in ATSC tuners include TVs, laptops, PCs, some satellite receivers, and digital recording devices (DVRs). If your TV menu has an option for scanning for digital channels, then your television has an ATSC tuner.

Q. Will the Sensar IV work with an analog television?

A: A large majority of over-the-air signals are now digital – the antenna does not differentiate between digital and analog signals. However, for an analog TV to work with a Sensar IV, a digital-to-analog converter box must be used in conjunction with the antenna.

Q. Can the Sensar IV be connected to multiple televisions?

A: Yes. The Sensar IV antenna can connect to multiple televisions through the wall plate/power supply that comes with the unit.

User questions & answers

Question: So how does one install the antenna, hang it, use velcro to adhered to wall, suggestions Thanks
Answer: It's clear by some of the responses that many don't understand what the question means. Any HD Antena can work with Fire stick if you use a device to integrate such as Air TV for example. That would even allow you to pull up local channels within your Sling APP and/or be watched on another device using the Sling app.
Question: What's the length of the coaxial cable
Answer: Go to the menu on your TV. Then channels. There should be an auto channel search button. Then select antenna and hit enter. This will search for and add all channels. You may need to do this function periodically if you lose channels. Hope this helps.
Question: Can this be used without amplification (plugging it into the outlet), and if so what is the range? I am hoping I could plug it in only as needed
Answer: Yes, provided your attic is less than 35 ft. away from your TV. If it is farther, then you will need an extension coaxial cable.
Question: how many miles
Answer: Well, to know if it's actually good, once could compare it to a 'make shift' antenna many people have used if their cable gets knocked out by a storm, hurricane, or when they first move into a place and have no cable hooked up, but to do that one would already need some coaxial cable (the one used if you have a cable box that screws into your tv). Here is what people often do to get channels from the air having no cable service; screw in the coaxial cable wire into the back of your tv like you would normally have if you had cable hooked up, into that cable connection area on the back of your tv (the round thing). Take the other end of that coaxial cable and rest the tip of that inner copper wire that is sticking out of it just a little bit, rest that into the slit of a screw on a light switch. Often times if you slightly bend the cable a little bit here and there the cable often rests right in place and sits there. Now go to your tv and using the "source" or "input" button on your remote, select "TV" then select "Antenna" then scan for channels. Those wall plates/wall outlets, like the light switch and other various wall outlets/switches, the screws that hold them onto the wall will act as an antenna. I'm not telling anyone to do that, I'm just sharing what I have seen many people do as an alternative to cable or when their cable function got knocked out after a powerful storm or hurricane and people wanted to find some local news to learn more about the situation if they still had a house and electricity left to do that but even with no power, many have those solar generators and they would allow a flat screen to work with it to be able to watch tv and get some local stations. Once one sees how many channels one can get without even buying an antenna and then they buy an antenna to compare that with, they will know if this, or others like it, was actually an improvement and worth the money.
