Answer:	Without a ground conductor it has nowhere to shunt the surge to, so no. This isn’t a design flaw in the product, so much as you would be circumventing the safety mechanisms if you didn’t use ground. At that point all you could hope for is that the outlet fails before your adapter and burns open rather than shorting. Moral of the story: don’t do that.

I still get about 8 channels that are clear but they are not channels that we often watch. My sister-in-law bought one of these but she lives in the middle of St. Louis, Missouri and she is VERY happy with hers and I she says that she is within 6 miles or less of several towers.

This is what I saw: - GND & Neutral go straight through - Live connects via what I tested to be a bi-metallic thermal trip to a PCB - Once it hits the board, it goes to a 125ac 16A single pole relay and then to the output - In addition, from the Live input to the board, there's a unidentified small rectangular component (measures close to 0 ohms) that feeds a 14mm disk MOV and a CML that feeds a bridge rectifier into a network of two 15uF 400V AEC's (these aren't just in parallel, there's some kind of L-C network between them) - This seems to power the step-down for the USB supply I see nothing that can absorb anything close to 5.6kJ. This size of MOV maxes out at a few hundred J. At full charge the caps contain 1.2J each. At first I wondered if the in-line device was a PTC and that was where the joules were dumped - but I heated it up and it clicks from 0.0ohms to open and back again. It's entirely possible that there's something really clever here that I'm missing (although J = I.V.t = M.C.T = 0.5CV^2 = 0.5LI^2 isn't up for designing around) I don't suppose the manufacturer would care to share the actual circuit, or at least test results showing how this device absorbs 5.6kJ from an induced surge typical of nearby (not direct obviously) lightening strikes and keeps the load-side voltage to the kind of levels typical (~200V) for MOVs used in this application In the meantime, I wish I hadn't installed them all and thrown the boxes away. I'm going to throw the PCB out, cover the USB slots and solder a bunch of bigger MOVs to the L & N in the box - it's actually good value as an enclosure for this..

Answer:	You can install it anywhere but out side on the roof and with the clearest veiw in the direction that best suits your area. I used a local antenna finder on my phone. I was surprisingly impressed with all of it. I have an old Samsung plasma from 2008 and it has never looked as good as it does on this antenna.

Connecting More Than One Television

There are 2 ways you can setup your HD-2605 for use with multiple TVs depending on how much coax cable you need and if you have the LAVA Splitter.

1. You can only use a maximum of 50 ft of RG6 coax cable from the Antenna to the Control Box and up to 50 ft of coax from the control box to each TV as needed if you connect your splitter directly after the control box.
2. If you have the LAVA HDS12 Splitter (not included), you can put it between the antenna and control box as shown above using a total of 50 ft or less of RG6 coax cable from the antenna, through the splitter, to the control box.

Run The Auto-Scan or Auto-Program in your TV menu FIRST thing after install

What do I do when I see a “NO SIGNAL” message on one or more channels? Go over the setup instructions again. Make sure the antenna is powering on, it is pointed in the right direction, and you run the Channel Search on your TV in the menu after you install and connect the antenna. If you are unsure how to run the scan, refer to your TV instruction manual.

2020 UPDATE: The FCC and TV stations are in the midst of a "channel re-pack" where they are shifting the frequencies of many TV stations.

The re-pack is scheduled to continue through mid-2020.

Answer:	We live in a rural area and we have to position ours in different directions at times, pending on the channels we are trying to view.

Answer:	Really? Cable TV, is called "cable TV" because the transmission of content, is by way of a "cable"... If you wrap it in tinfoil, hook up a 25db pulse modulating hi gain amplifier and set at an angle of 365° pointed at Alpha Centari, you can get free satellite TV. It has to be true, I saw it on the internet. No... that's not how it works,that's not how any TV works.
