Answer:	I would contact the seller/mfg for guidance. I don’t know how the product/wool is bonded to make the 1/2 Inch thickness. Cutting down the size may have unexpected edge results. If you were to cut, a 60 mm rotary blade/cutter with an acrylic ruler for a straight cut may be the best DIY option.

Answer:	Yes - it's the same on both sides. This works very well for pressing patchwork or anything that has more layers (bulk) to it. The sewn piece will lightly get pressed into the mat so the seams do not show on the right side. I've also done embroidered linens and the item pressed very flat. The mat must be used on a protected ironing surface - NOT a table. The heat does go through it.
