At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

| Answer: | Ok , so you definitely want them to be the right size so that you will love them . This particular boot is a ladies boot and the UK 7 is equal to the US 9 . A UK 5 would be equal to an US 7 . They’re not available in half sizes but in my experience and having gone to stores to try doc martens on after ordering a too- large size I would not go up in size . If you are choosing the leather boot they will warm and mold to your feet pretty quickly ..... I followed a tip and wore them around the house while doing cleaning and in two days they felt like they were made for my feet and the one sore ankle that I have felt perfect ! Miracle ! Love them and want to wear them with everything ! |

| Answer: | When I ordered these. I chose size 7 US and it came as size 7 US not UK. I never noticed a switch in sizing in my cart. I hope that helps. |
