| Answer: | The smooth leather is definitely not softer leather. Smooth leather is signature for Docs to be ultra stiff until broken in, however, it's worth the pain because the shoe literally molds to your foot after a couple weeks and is more comfortable than any shoes I have ever owned. |

I would say an 8 is safe, and if you have a narrow foot even more so, I have a wide foot and I was still fine. |
