Answer:	The sole is a soft foam, not a hard rubber. The upside of this is that the shoe easily floats, as you would want for a water shoe. I would not expect the sole to wear as long as a hiking shoe or running shoe on trails or pavement. My guess is that I could get 30-50 miles of wear out of them for walking before the sole wore out. I would choose a different shoe if hiking was the main use.

Your normal street wear shoes are normally used walking on flat ground, out on the trails you often find yourself walking downhill--your foot slides forward a bit and if your shoes don't have enough space your toes press against the end of the shoe. I've encountered a person that had a toenail fall off because they wore their normal size on a long hike, and more than one with lesser injuries. Note that this is in no way specific to these shoes, you oversize all hiking shoes & boots.

Question:	would these be versatile enough to wear when hiking in Appalachian as well
Answer:	Not in my opinion . These shoes are squishy soft rubber and if you were walking over rock and other objects, your feet would be bending with them. You need stiffer soles with more support. Great to wear fishing though. Just spend a little more money and get appropriate hiking boots.
Question:	Usually wear 7.5 hiking shoe for extra space downhills should I get a 7 since for water sports
Answer:	If I could do it again, I would. I normally wear a size 7.5. While it's fine when wearing socks, it's a bit loose without socks. I would have preferred a tighter fit especially for water use.
Question:	Will these shoes be good for a 16 mile canyoneering hike where most of the hike will be in water
Answer:	I’d say yes. I work on a Fireboat and use these as my class A uniform. Basically, I wear them all day long. Lite, comfortable and they dry pretty quickly. Plenty of grip on the soles. I can see me using these on a hike in the Big Cypress, or Boundry Waters trip.
Question:	Would they be safe to use in a water park
Answer:	They are more of a walking shoe with ventilation than a water shoe.

Question:	Would you recommend these shoes for beaches to protect feet against shells/rocks? Will sand get trapped in the shoe
Answer:	Yes and yes. The top is gauze like so water and fine sand can get in. The only openings are in the soul to let water out. The shoe will protect you feet very well from shells and rocks and let Sandy water in and out. It has the potential of trapping fine sand that gets in with the water.
Question:	Looking for a new pair of shoes for the river, do these shoes let rocks and sand in easily
Answer:	The shoe upper is mesh so I think sand could get in pretty easily. The sole has drain holes but there is an insole in the shoe which might keep small rocks out but probably not sand.

Answer:	These. Water shoes are extremely light. Very satisfied with weight
Question:	Do the holes in the sole allow small rocksand grit to get in
Answer:	certainly would. these are meant for pool, water aerobics, so balance can be maintained. holes on bottom are 1/2 - 3/4 inch. there are 3 of them.
