I've worn them with compression socks in 30° degrees and was thankful that I wasn't having to stand in water, or spending protracted time in that shit. To contrast, I have a pair of boots that are rated to -40°. Where I live, it rarely gets below -10°, though. I haven't been able to wear them, yet, because they're so hot. These are not insulated like those, though. I wouldn't suggest these for working a full shift in subfreezing temperatures. For my job, I rarely get stuck out in the cold for more than an hour at a time. These are perfectly fine, with adequate socks, for that duration. |

They will not last like a good pair of leather Danners, Whites, Redwings etc. Eastern oregon, where I live is rocky, and I am satisfied if these Bates or other tactical type boots last 6-12 months with almost daily use. My son is a lot harder on these type of boots and they only last him about 4 months with daily use. |

| Answer: | Not waterproof. Should have sent them back. Toenail fungus ensued. Hit or miss with Bates quality. 6 pairs bought. Some great, some bad in terms of quality. Your soles will wear out fast. |
