I can’t remember if 24 lbs is average weight for a 2 year old though ... is your son on the smaller side? Answer: My kid is 32lbs and uses the 3T. I think the 2T could fit initially depending on how tall he is but he's going to grow out of it in 2 seconds. I would recommend you size up. Its not going to be so large that it falls off even if he is a slim 30lbs.
