Answer:	The globe is well balanced & sturdy. It stands nicely on a small table. No worries about it tipping over. It rotates smoothly & is easy to read. The raised topography is a nice feature. Nice quality& attractive.
Question:	Is this detailed enough for school children to grow in to? Difficult to tell from the picture if it as detailed as other globes
Answer:	Yes, this globe is detailed and up to date. Children can touch the areas where the highest mountains are indicated by a bumpier and less smooth spot on the globe. Colors help give more emphasis on land areas and water areas, as well as changes to the regions.
Question:	What year was this map created? aka: is it current
Answer:	It does show Taiwan as part of China. Some of the Indian and Bhutan borders seem different if you search a map of India. But then again Japans color looks really close to Russia in the photo.

Answer:	It does light up. It rotates by hand really well. (globe is not motorized)
Question:	does this globe show states and capitals, as well as cities - and are they different colors? Also, how is the bulb replaced? thank you very much
Answer:	The globe is more geographical (mountains, forests, rivers and deserts) than political (state borders). The deep ocean is a darker blue than the shallow ocean. Rugged mountains are shown in a darker brown, deserts in tan, forests in green. Countries and states are named (if large enough), but boundaries are only shown for countries, not states. Only the very largest cities are named, which does not include most state capital. 13 inches is too small to show all the state capitals, I would recommend a wall map for that. I believe the light is an LED which should never need replacing. The globe can be disassembled for LED replacement, but you would have to carefully remove the equator tape and reapply it when re-assembling it. The globe is two hemispheres that fit together at the equator. The globe is more professional than any 12 or 13-inch globe I’ve seen. I’m very happy with it.

Answer:	The four “bits” are four spare burner nozzles. I was very excited to purchase this unit. In theory, and “on paper” it’s a great idea. It’s ambitious. The swash plate, as a way of turning linear movement into a rotational force is quite interesting. But, perhaps all the friction that this kind of design inevitably has, causes it to be quite hard to make run. And when I finally got it going, it quickly seized up. I managed to free it up, but it’s never worked since. Elegant idea, attractive to look at and to handle... but, mmmmm, doesn’t really work. It’s been four months, and I am now considering buying it again to give it another chance. (But I am a gluten for punishment).

Question:	Can use a sharp,big knife or if not, what do you use
Answer:	No hammer, it comes with goggles and a magnifying glass

Answer:	The best way to open them is to take a large file & carefully cut a groove around the Geode along any depressions in the shape. Place in on a towel on a concrete floor. Be sure to put on safety glasses! Take a large chisel and place it in the groove. Strike the end of the chisel with a hammer to break the Geode open. Be careful everyone standing near has their safety gasses on as well!
Question:	What is the method of how to open them? Do you need to have a separate tool for that
Answer:	These are absolutely real geodes, as you would soon discover when you try to break them open. However, as I have recently discovered, they are not all geodes. Of the five I've opened so far, one is a very dull nodule, not a geode, and another is nothing more than a roundish rock. So, two duds out of five so far and, based on the feel of the weight, I suspect another of the remaining five may be either just a rock or a nodule.

Question:	What are average the sizes of the rocks? Like half an inch
Answer:	No, our NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Rocks & Fossils Kit is not a dig kit. This is a beginners rock collection.
Question:	do you actually dig/uncover the fossils
Answer:	This was a birthday gift for a 8 year old boy. He loved it as the rocks and fossils were easily identified and he loves his rocks. It is not a polishing device. So you do not need grit. I have seen where National Geographic does offer a small rock polishing kit.

Answer:	I have looked up most the rocks included. They are not toxic or radioactive. However I don’t really know all of them, so I can’t be positive. This was a gift to my niece that shared it with her granddaughter. Knowing her I think she would have looked most of them or gotten back to me if there was any issues.
