3 best se scissor jacks

A scissor jack, also known as a screw jack or a car jack, is a mechanical device commonly used in the automotive industry and other applications to lift vehicles or heavy objects. It falls under the category of stabilizer jacks, jacks, and vehicle lifts, and it is a fundamental tool in garage shops, workshops, and for roadside emergencies. Here are some key features and information about scissor jacks:

  1. Design and Mechanism: Scissor jacks consist of a framework of intersecting metal rods, which, when turned by a threaded screw, open and close in a scissor-like fashion. This action causes the jack to extend or retract, lifting or lowering the load, such as a vehicle.

  2. Portability: Scissor jacks are relatively compact and lightweight, making them easy to store in a vehicle's trunk for emergency tire changes or other minor repairs. They are also used in automotive repair shops and garages for lifting vehicles during maintenance and repair tasks.

  3. Weight Capacity: The lifting capacity of scissor jacks can vary, but they are generally designed to lift smaller to medium-sized vehicles. They may not be suitable for lifting heavy trucks or larger vehicles, which may require hydraulic floor jacks or other specialized lifting equipment.

  4. Use Cases: Scissor jacks are commonly used for tasks such as changing flat tires, performing brake and suspension work, or accessing the undercarriage of a vehicle. They provide stability and safety when properly used.

  5. Operation: To raise a vehicle with a scissor jack, you typically insert a crank handle into a designated slot on the jack and turn it clockwise. This action causes the threaded screw to lift the vehicle. To lower the vehicle, you turn the handle counterclockwise.

  6. Safety Considerations: It is crucial to use scissor jacks on a level and stable surface to prevent accidents.Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper usage, and use additional safety measures like wheel chocks and jack stands when working under a raised vehicle.

  7. Maintenance: Regular inspection and maintenance of scissor jacks are essential to ensure their safe and effective operation. This includes checking for any signs of wear, lubricating moving parts, and cleaning the jack to prevent rust and corrosion.

In summary, scissor jacks are a common tool in automotive repair and maintenance. They are designed for lifting vehicles in a controlled and stable manner, making them indispensable for various tasks in the automotive industry and garage shops. However, it's essential to use them safely and within their weight capacity to avoid accidents and injuries.

User questions & answers

Question: I lost the jack arm, how can i get a replacement

Question: How do you release the safety latch? Help
Answer: Raise the jack, lift the latch while lowering the jack.
Question: What is the exact measurement of this jack? For storage purpose
Answer: I measured it in half light so do not bet the farm on the answer but it should be close. The base is 9"X9" and it is nearly 13" tall. That will get you close.
Question: I see a lot of bad reviews on quality, does anyone know if they are better built now? Has there been a quality control or design improvement
Answer: You must be working for a company that does not make or represent the Powerbuilt name. By your question about quality, you are going off of rumors and gossip.I have been in the very dangerous employment of glazing, sandblasting, industrial coating, waterproofing, painting, industrial and commercial building repair, and skyscraper window washing. Safety and quality of tools for myself and my crew is my first concern. I actually was a consultant for Landa Pressure Washers, and many Industrial Chemical Companies like Shermiin Williams and Miller Paint. Many things can go wrong when you'r 80 feet up on a crane at the shipyards,or sandblasting, testing , and coating a Bridge in Portland Oregon, or just fixing your truck or car. Powerbuilt tools, and especially this #640912 keeps me verysafe, better than a car jack alone or a jack stand alone. Look up what the Fire Departments and first responders use at your local Safety Equipment Supplier.Look up the Fisk Descender, a safety device made by my previous employer and inventor, Brian Fisk. We used this safety device to descend from buildings andCranes, and Holding Tanks at the Refineries. I pressure washed 8 to 10 story buildings hanging to prep them for coating or waterproofing or caulking. When I needthe safest support product I know to crawl under and work on a heavy machine or vehicle or industrial motor at Frito Lay or a support beam at Robinson Dairy, you'llsee this Powerbuilt 640912 keeping me safe. Now that I am retired from the Industrial world, I will continue to stand by and consult and train people with manyother Powerbuilt products.

Powerbuilt 3 Ton All-in-One Jackstand/Bottle Jack

The Powerbuilt 3 Ton All-in-One UniJack is designed to safely lift and hold both regular and unibody cars and trucks.

All Unibody vehicles have factory-approved lifting points to prevent damage when jacking up the vehicle. But with a conventional jack, it’s challenging to properly lift and hold a unibody vehicle, because once the vehicle is raised with a jack, there’s no space left to add a jackstand.

The Powerbuilt 3 Ton All-in-One solves this problem with an ingenious design that both safely lifts and securely holds a Unibody vehicle using a single lift point. The Unijack offers both concave and flat lifting surfaces to accommodate a wide variety of lift points.

What’s more, it eliminates the cost and hassle of a floor jack, it’s easier to lift, move and store and costs a lot less too.

The 6000 pound All-in-One offers lift range from 11 to 21 inches, which makes it perfect for trucks, SUVs and vans.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you tell me the width of the base on this jack? Thanks. RMW
Answer: The base is 6&1/2" wide, is 4&1/2" deep at the ends, but narrower at the middle. Realize that made-in-China items can quickly change depending on their latest vendor, i.e., low-bidder. I'm happy with mine, although the picture for mine showed it had a flat top, and mine has two small bumps that protrude--although only a very little bit. These might provide stability in some situations, don't pose a problem in most, but I'd have peferred that the top be flat.
Question: what is the fully collapsed height -- will it fit within a gap of 3-3/4 inches
Answer: Yes. It will clear that distance. Its collapsed height is 3 1/2 inches.
Question: Can you tell me about the length of the jack when it closed , I want to see if it match it's place in my car ( Toyota Camry
Answer: When completely closed, as flat as can be, this item measures 5" high, 5" wide and 18" long.
Question: Will this jack for toyota corolla le 2009 model
Answer: I'm sure it will work for the 2009 Toyota Corolla. The limit on the Jack is 3,000 pounds. This jack should easily lift the weight from one side or one corner. Be sure the jack is firmly under a frame member. I would recommend a Jack stand or blocks to place under the frame in the event of a mishap.

User questions & answers

Question: the 40lb item weight, is that for all
Answer: Yes, I purchased them and they actually weighted about 11lbs each jack...
Question: How far apart are two top bolts/scissor-arm-axles, center to center? Want to use existing welded plates on frame
Answer: Hello, If you talking about the bolts in the mounting plate. They are 2 inches apart. Front to back. That is center of bolts. Hope that helps.
Question: Do these have to be mounted in order to use as stabilizer
Answer: Yes, have to be mounted either by bolts or by welding, it’s for the safety
Question: What is the retracted length, is it 12" or 26 ½? Please reply soon
Answer: I can only verify information on items sold by classacustoms Extend Height: 24" Collapsed Height: roughly 4" Collapsed Length: roughly 27" (this includes screw) If the distance between the ground and your trailer frame is less than 20 inches you should use 24 inch jacks (not 30 inch jacks) Do Not use the scissors jack to lift excessive weight or tires off the ground. Jack is made to stabilize your unit, not lift unit off the ground. Vehicle frame and door jam damage may result. Do Not use these scissors jack as a tire changing jack.
